So I ended up getting to go to Cedar Point last weekend for opening, no Maverick, but I had alot of fun. No pictures though, because I don't have a digital camera, just a camera phone.

Day 1 (Saturday)

Woke up at 2:15 AM, got ready and then left at around 2:45. Got to the airport (Bradley International in Hartford, CT if you want to know) around 4:30 (It was my first time flying), and got on it around 6, and got to Cleveland around 8. We headed over to the rental car center, then drove to Bob Evans to meet my grandfather for breakfast. We ended driving atleast like 2 miles down the road, only to find that it was right next to the on ramp. We eat, then my grandfather invited us to his house, and we hang around for a little while.

At around 1:30, we left for the park, and got there around 3:30. As we passed by, we noticed that the park was packed. We checked in at the Breakers, then lounged around for a while before going into the park for starlight admission. We went in the Magnum gate, and got right in line for Magnum, which said 45 minutes, but the line was moving quickly, so it seemed like only a half hour. Got the front row, and although a great ride, wasn't better than S:ROS SFNE (which from now on I will refer to simply as Superman).

After that, we headed around past Dragster towards Millennium Force, and ended up getting on Mantis. After a hour or so line, we got on. Kinda fun ride, but all the headbanging in the second half pretty much ruined it. We decided to walk down Frontier Trail to see Maverick, and almost got a funnel cake, but the line was way too long. We walked past Maverick, trying to get a good look at the heartline roll, but couldn't, then went over to Mean Streak, getting a snack on the way, but it broke just as we where about to get on, so we wen't over to Skyhawk, which was alot of fun.

We saw Dragster running empty, so we tried to get there before there where any lines, but there were already a ton of people there, so we headed out of the park, got pizza for dinner, and watched TV some. I wanted to go back into the park to get the last ride of the night on Millennium Force, but my dad didn't, so I asked him f I could go in alone, but he said I would have to call my mom about it, and she convinced into going in with me. We got there, and found an hour wait. Awesome ride, but I didn't think it was quite better then Superman. After that, we wen't back to the hotel and went right to sleep.

Day 2 (Sunday)

We woke up at 7:30, got ready, then headed down to the Cofee Shop for breakfast. After that, we went into the park. I had forgotten my jacket, but didn't go back to the room since my dad len't me his. Me got in and ran to Dragster, but found an already hour or so wait. After a couple test runs (most of which where rollbacks) they opened the line. The wind was freezing in the station, and it took ages to get on, and it really wasn't worth it. The ride is fun, but far too short.

We where going to ride Corkscrew, but I wanted to but something warmer on, so we headed back up to our room. After a few minutes, we headed down to the Wicked Twister gate, and found Wicked Twister to be pratically a walk on. We ended up waiting for the front row. Way better ride then Dragster, a must do if you are at the park. I don't know why it gets lost in all the hype for Dragster and Millennium Force.

After that, we headed over to maXair, which had about a half hour wait. Fun, but really no better then Skyhawk, or even normal sized Frisbees. Getting off that, we decided Raptor was next. We found it had an hour line. We got on after an hour with no complications. Great ride, silky smooth and fast and very intense throughout the entire ride. I could even feel the blood rushing away from my head in the Cobra Roll. We wanted to get the video, but it wasn't working.

Afterwards, we wen't over to Blue Streak, and rode twice, once in the back and once in the front. Great ride, tons of ejector air over every hill. It must have been awesome when it had single position lap bars. Just remember to ride in the front, the airtime is more intense there.

We decided to head up the midway towards Gemini and ride everything we missed along there. We waited about 15 minutes-half hour for Power Tower shot, which was decent, but not great, then hit up Corkscrew, which was fun but short. We continued up towards Gemini, riding Magnum on the way. My dad suggested the back, so we rode there. A much better ride then it was the day before, the trim brakes where off aswell. Insane airtime over the last few bunny hops.

After that we bought our photo, then went back to our room to put it away. After going back into the park, we wen't straight to Gemini, which had almost no wait. We managed to get the front seat on opposing trains (me on red, my dad on blue). Fun ride, but nothing spectacular. We then wen't to Frontier Town to get on Mean Streak after missing it the day before. No line, but you can see why. It hurt alot more then Cyclone at SFNE, and had none of Cyclone's crazy airtime. Tear it down and build a record-breaking Intamin woodie.

We decided to get on Skyhawk again, and after a half hour wait, we got on. Still a great ride. I'm hoping to get down to Lake Compounce later this year, so hopefully Thunder N Lighting is just as good. After riding, we headed back down Frontier Trail, trying to get a good look at Maverick's roll, but again failed. On the way back we got a funnel cake, and when we finished it was just after 6. Since the park was about to close, we decided to do Millennium Force right at closing, and do some other stuff before it.

Walking down, we hit Iron Dragon since it had no line, but ended up waiting a train for the front. Cool ride, pretty fun and a nice diversion from the bigger rides. It doesn't deserve the flak it gets. After that, we went down to Raptor and rode it again, and saw that the video cameras where working, but didn't record us. We then wen't to check Wicked Twister, which was now really a walk-on. We rode three times, twice in the back and once in the middle. Ride in the back if you can, the snap through the twist on the second tower is great fun.

By then it was almost 6:30, so we ran to check out Raptor, only to find the line had been closed down. We ran to Millenium Force, and where going to hop on Mantis a second time, but instead just got on Millennium. After about 45 minutes, we got on the front row. After that, I definatly have to say it is better then Superman. We left the park and then went swimming. They have a really cool hot tub at the Breakers now, it is the size of a small pool, but is heated and has two waterfalls. After soaking for about 2 hours, we had dinner at Fridays and went to bed.

The next day, we got up, packed, showered, and had apples my grandfather gave us for breakfast. I had kinda wanted to try Ripcord that day, but we left before Challenge Park opened. We had an un-eventfull drive into Cleveland, but then ended up getting stuck in a really bad part of the city, and had to call back home to get directions. We dropped off the rental car, then met my grandfather again for lunch. We eat at a place not far off the highway in Berea called Donte's Restaruant. I recomend it to people who are in that area, pretty nice place.

After that we headed back to the airport, and got on the plane back around 3. Allthough I was expecting a better ride on the 737 we took back then the little Embraer plane we took there, I was completly wrong, the 737 was much louder and alot rougher too. After getting back, we just picked up stuff for dinner, then went straight home.

Anyway, I had a great opening weekend at Cedar Point, and I hope to be able to get back their this fall and ride Maverick. Also, kudos to CP's staff for being way better then Six Flags'.
