gldude Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 When i started out yesterday (5/13) leaving my house at 2:30 for a drive that takes about 90 minutes to get to cedar point, i was a little leary of it all. After all what can one possibly do at one of the most popular amusement parks in the country with less then 3 hours? turns out, a lot! We arrived at the park at 345, excited to finally start the coaster season. After seeing no pass line at the front of the group ticket/pass office, i was excited. I usually get my pass processed at GL since it is 10 minutes from where i live, so naturally i thought, look no line! turns out the line was in the back, and was a line that would take upwards of an hour at geauga lake. Me and my brother sighed and got in line. To our surprise we got our passes in under 10 minutes and we were in the park by 405. First up- Demon Drop- I love First Gen. Intamin Free Falls , and was sad when mr. hydes was removed from my home park, and being that there was no line, we got on. The best thing about first gens is the stomach-in-your-mouth feeling that seems to be lacking on the new drop towers. As always awsome-9/10 Then on to my favorite coaster at the park, Maggie. After a 10 minute wait, we snagged the front seat and had a great ride. A couple good pops of air, but nothing like the insane air-time we got during ERT at CoasterMania last year. None the less, still the best coaster in the park-(10/10) We then made the logical jump over to Gemini with just a 3 train wait for the back. It was a surprising ride as i never knew this thing delivered air like it did, and still gives a smooth ride. (9/10) Next we checked out Maverick. After not being too impressed with the themeing on the construction gallery, i got to say the ride looks great. I also couldn't believe how compact it was. After the modifications, this ride is surely going to kick ass. We then hopped on Cedar Creek, which gave a slower then usual ride but as always the head choppers made it a great ride. (7/10) After CCMR, we decided to take a swing on Skyhawk, one of the best bird rides Cedar Fair has. To occupy ourselfs for what would be the longest wait of the day (a mere 30 minutes) me and my brother tacked on a bird to the end of every ride in the park, as cedar fair really seems to dig their hawks. After that was all said and done, i really think CP should consider the Names of Gemihawk and Jr. Gemihawk. (yeah, we're cool). Anyway, Skyhawk was awesome and is still one of the best rides out there (10/10). We also saw Mr. Bill Spehn (Geauga Lake's GM) on the ride before4 us, and he didn't seem to enjoy his ride too much. I now know why he prefers GL as a water park. After a pleasant walk down Frontier Trail, we hit up Wildcat and Iron Dragon as there was no wait. Fun, but nothing to write home about, which was expected (7/10). We were then going to Take a ride on dragster but saw that it had broken down so we went over to Wicked Twister. WT has alluded me for years as i never get around to riding it or it is broken down, but i finally can say i have all operation coasters at Cedar Point under my belt. As for the ride, Steel Venom's launch is better, but the second trip up the back spike left SV in its dust. (8/10) We then had to ride Disaster Transport. This ride is so bad that it is almost good. However, all the lights were on in the line, a sure sign that Cedar Point truly has come to terms with the fact that they should stick to western themeing. Still a fun ride though (6/10). With 15 minutes till close (which was at 7:00) we figured we might as well get on Millie. I have to admit that Millennium Force has never been a favorite of mine, as i seem to like coasters that everybody hates and vice versa, but i got to say I had a great ride! We got floater air on all of the hills and it seemed to be going faster then it was at CoasterMania last year. Our on-ride photo was also a pleasant surprise, so we picked up two pictures. But the best part was the 25 minute wait. (10/10). Over All, one of my best days at The Point. I got on everything i wanted and had a blast at America's Rockin' Roller Coast, and all in under 3 hours!
hemmy Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Wow nice, 3 hours. Can't wait to go the week after memorial day even though Maverick probably won't be open yet it was either Maverick or floorless Sheikra. Nice TR
