Last year some hacker got my password and sold some "nasty" stuff off of my screen name. Long story short- I got in big trouble but AOL found out who it was in a day so they got in trouble.

I was doing some research and it said that its a good idea to clear all your history, cookies and all that stuff after signing off or daily. It doesn't allow for hackers to trace you to an unstable site (not like TPR) that can give off info. Has anybody else heard of it? I've started trying it out for safety.

Waste of time. All you need to protect yourself is...

-Firewall (preferable hardware)

-Spyware protection

-Virus protection

-Common sense <<

Clearing your track every time deletes your web site passwords, cache images, and just makes your browsing experience slower. Use FireFox if you're worried about security. As for AOL, you're screenname/email address is your identity, which is AOL's BIGGEST flaw. Getting your password is easy, and can be done in any chat room or instant message.

Just remember, NOBODY of official stature will ask you for any personally identifying information, EVER!
