gus1971 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Hey Robb! Hey Folks! Next July I will be travelling to Vienna and Madrid. Needless to say, I am looking so forward to attending to some parks, but with very limited time, I need your advice. What not to miss in Wiener-Prater? In Madrid, which one should I pick: Parque de Atracciones or Six Flags? Any hint is more than welcome. TIA, Gus.
SharkTums Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I can help you out with the Madrid question... Will you have good transportation or are your relying on public transport? Parque de Atrraciones is VERY easy to get to on the Madrid Metro. I did not care for this park that much though. They have: - A bad dark ride - Drop ride - Intamin Invert Coaster (good!) - Mauer Spinner (really fun!) - Evil X-Car thing (didn't ride, but have been on another and they're lame!) - Kiddie Coaster - A Few flat rides Very little theming, and really weird operations. Parque Warner is actually about an hour outside of Madrid. Still possible to get there on trains and buses, but much easier by car. This park is beautiful! They have: - Drop Ride - Dark Ride - A few Flat rides - B&M Floorless (really good!) - B&M BAtman Clone (best of all of them due to the theming) - Worst Wooden coaster on the planet! - Spanish Deja Vu! - Kiddie Coaster - Some water rides - Good selection of food So obviously I feel that Warner is the better choice, but hopefully this will help you out!
ing king Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Hi Gus, i'm from vienna so Prater park is my homepark. You are talking about very limited time - what does that mean in hours? Prater is a park with rides operated by many different companies. So it's a pay per ride park. Some rides not to miss are in my opinion the big giant wheel (built 1897; also one landmark of vienna), the Hochschaubahn (a rather lame but unique coaster, i think it's a listed ace classic coaster), spnning wild mouse, megablitz coaster (best one in the park in my opinion), the bell ride (only one in the world, prototype ride), starflyer, some darkrides, etc ... It all depends on your favorite type of rides, but you can walk around the whole park in - i would say - one hour (without riding anything). And most of the rides shoud have none to short lines. Only of there's some local event attendance and ridelines can get very busy. You can find a list of rides here http://www.prater.at/AttraktionList.php For a list of rollercoasters i'd suggest rcdb http://www.rcdb.com/pd398.htm There's also a tripreport with some photos of the park i've once posted http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=187285
gus1971 Posted March 4, 2007 Author Posted March 4, 2007 Shark and King, Thank you both very much for your help and advices. Shark, I only have a couple of hours at night and will relay on públic transportation. Therefore, I will chose PAD instead of SFMadrid. Another point is that I´ve already ridden many B&M coasters and Deja Vu in US. So PAD brings some new options to me. King, a couple of hours is all I will have to visit Prater. Thank you for pointg me out your fave coaster there. I think I will stop by for a quick ride on Volare, Super 8er Bahn, Megablitz and Hochschaubahn. Thanks and best regards from Rio de Janeiro, Gus.
