CoasterJunkie
So we decided to check out some of the offerings in our home county...and Phobia was about it. It seems that they got a good deal at Kmart and Walmart on the decorations. We saw them there. They really tried to put on a good venue, but just were lacking people. The houses were very short, and had about 4 people working them. We also saw Phobia on Ice...just to beat some of the heat. It was OK..There were TONS of prosti-tots running around too. One of the coolest things was a guy measuring you for your casket. He would put a person in one, then close the door. He would then re-open it to find the person gone. He then would open a diff one and they were there. Simple idea, but just fun to watch and do. Overall, an OK effort but needs more work. Here are some pics. Yet another house. Could have been good. There was a chainsaw dude hanging around. This is one of the houses. Yes, thats a tent with a cheesy house front Sign in the alligator area Scarecrow man Opening parade..this was ALL of the actors...about 50 total. Ahh Starliner...we may never see it.. Center Gazebo, now with blow up spider! Lots of pumpkins, people smashed a few too. A set piece..not used for anything though Cobwebs everywhere..not too bad. Shavethewhales
Aw, I can't believe they still haven't gotten to the Starliner yet... anyway, sweet pics. Looks like they tried, but some parks are just to small to be able to pull off much of a frightfest.
CoasterJunkie
Some more info to add about the event... There really werent any "scarezones" to speak of. There were some people in the front area and thats about it. The houses(3total) were ok, and were a good effort, just they only had about 3-5 people in them. One good thing is they do stagger how many peeps are allowed in to the house at a time, so they had that going for them. There was a 3d house, with clowns. We hit it twice, and the second time was fun as there was a clown wearing a Mike Myers mask who basically chased me out of the entire house. I ran through it. That was fun. They also had an area called Black Forest. Basically it was a junkyard(or a redneck backyard) full of old crap, and about 3 people to scare you. Soo much potential. Overall it was a good try, but there was just so much cheap, cheesiness to it, it was hard to enjoy. Maybe if they werent going bankrupt they could do better. On the plus side...Disk-O was open!! It usually is closed. Skeletons on a ferris wheel!! Sunset on the lake. Hopefully this view won't get replaced by condos
tacoking
Seems like a slight improvement over last year, but that's not saying much.
