Jumboshrmp
If you would like, you can read my trip report from last month, when I went to Boomers, first. http://coasterradio.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=975 I just went back to Boomers on Tuesday. My school likes hosting events here. You get a free bus ride from the school to the event, and you dont have to pay tax on the tickets or wristbands. This will be a rather short trip report, the main reason I am posting it is to share the pictures and the video. Well, starting off with the bad news. Dania Beach Hurricane was closed for maintenance, and I was disappointed when I first heard the news, but I didn't really miss it that much after all. It seems like everyone talks about how it's such an awesome wooden coaster, and even after riding it over 20 times I still don't see how it's THAT great. Sure, it's a ton of fun, but maybe all of the other wooden coasters just arent as good, and people are shocked to actually find a decent one. Who knows... (Let's hope nobody takes that statement TOO seriously..) Anyway, the highlight of the trip was definitely my 3 rides on the Blender (A 160 ft, 60 mph spinning skyscraper ride). This is now my absolute favorite ride. Better than any coaster by far. I filmed an offride video and an onride POV for Youtube. Here they are: Onride POV: Offride Video: The onride POV is only half of the ride. I took my camera out while I was at the top, waiting for the other side to load. You only hear me in the video twice. The first time, I'm telling the person I'm riding with to put their head back, since she was scared. And the second time you hear me is on the final rotation, when I go over the top without flipping, and I make a very.... "weird" sound, out of surprise when the seat swung forward. I took a few pictures from the top also. These are pretty neat. (I dont want to resize these photos, I want you to be able to enjoy them full size, so I will just post them as links.) http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/8159/nighthf3.jpg http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/7024/lookingdown1nq6.jpg http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/8651/lookingdown2eh1.jpg http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/844/lookingdown3ex5.jpg http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/6901/lookingdown4jt3.jpg This is not a ride for those who are afraid of heights! Surprisingly, my favorite ride of the three times was the only time I rode by myself. My reason for this is because not only was it my first ride of the day, but it was also the only ride I had on it during daylight. The Blender is MUCH better during the day, you can see how high you are, and it's much more exaggerated. But more importantly, I noticed that since the seats were much lighter, I spun VERY FAST! The thing I like about this Skyscraper ride, is that it is included when you buy a wristband. At most parks, these are upcharge rides. While you can pay $9 to ride it once, if you pay $25 you can ride it as much as you want all day, as well as play all of the video games, ride the kiddie rides, play laser tag, and drive the racing go karts. It was very fun! I'm quite lucky to live only 15 minutes away from this place. I don't think it will be long before I start reffering to it as my "home park"...
