Why do we need a halloween event, theres just no point for it....plese don't take this the wrong way, but do we have to americanise ( sp ) everything..

Yeah mate, very constructive...

Halloween would be awesome at Movie World, judging by how well they theme their attractions, one can only assume they would do a great job.

Because Halloween was not celebrated in Britain it did not travel there with British colonization, but has some recognition due to American cultural media influences. Compared to the USA, Halloween is reasonably uncelebrated in Australia.

Halloween is most popular in Ireland, where it originated, also known in Irish Gaelic as "Oíche Samhain" or "Samhain Night". The Celts celebrated Halloween as Samhain, "End of Summer," a pastoral and agricultural festival of fire, when the dead revisited the mortal world, and large communal bonfires would be lit to ward off evil spirits. (See Origin: Celtic observation of Samhain below.) In Ireland they continued to practice their deep-rooted, ancient pagan rites well after the arrival of Christianity in the middle of the sixth century.

As October 31st is the last day of the bright half of the year, the next day also meant the beginning of Winter

There is no Cultural history for us to have this hallmark holiday, it would also need to take place during March.

But then again it does not matter what i think, if Movieworld thinks it would draw crowds in over that quiet period go for it.

As much as I would like to see such an awesome event hit an Aussie theme park, im not to sure of its relevance. Halloween isn't widely celebrated overe here, and I would have thought that would be the basis of their popularity in the States.

Perhaps theres some big event on our calendar that we could theme a park too? Australia Day?I think id rather see some Christmas type event, i.e. Grinchmas

Definetly give it a try tho, If an aussie park could pull off something that great, then go for it! MW is fantastic with the themeing, which should lead to some great houses! A Cornfield effort would be great to see, perhaps Evil Superman/Batman. Spooky Chinatown before jumping on Leathal Weapon. Id like to see some rides changed for the event? Scooby Doo runnig completely backwards? Some different effects in the indoors part of Wild West? Haunted Street Parade? Have the whole park being taken over by Villians? Have the fountain area taken over by the Joker, leading into a Haunted House, perhaps the faux Wayne Manor?

^some nice ideas.

And just remember fellow aussie none of our parks open after 5pm as it is, so I thought you guys would be jumping at the chance for something different that allows you to ride at night as well.

AS for halloween down under I think its a great idea, as I know for a fact halloween is getting bigger each year down here this year ive already been invited to 3 halloween parties, but will be in the states so thats ashame.
