Homer Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Alright, I have a question about GBA cartridges. On two of my games (Sonic Advance and Mario Kart Super Circuit), my Nintendo DS doesn't read the cartridges and I have to take them out a few times and put em back in and reset the system. They work, and then the game gets garbled sound and locks up after 10 seconds (Sonic Advance- during the SEGA/Sonic Team logo, Mario Kart during the selection screen). After re inserting it again, it works smoothly, but when you take it out and put it back in again, it craps out again. It also does the same thing on my GBASP as well. Is there an answer about GBA cartridges crapping out? The games I had were released back in 2001/2002 and is it something to do with age or a certain card?
Angry_Gumball Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 It sounds like you haven't used a game cleaner on the cart yet. Try using one of those (I just use a Q-Tip and Rubbing Alcohol) and clean the contacts. My Metroid Fusion sometimes jumbles up the nintendo logo on the GBA Bootup screen thingy so I just pull the cart out and blow in it and problem solved. I do though happen to have some messed up GBC games (Pokemon yellow, Donkey Kong Country) that are just dead. I've cleaned them countless times and eventually able to run the game but the save battery is dead.
