Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

IMO Zach can be upset about the carousel all he wants and has every right to voice it, but it does seem that every couple of weeks when someone decides to finally chime in this thread, Zach always somehow brings up the Carosuel. lol. Definitely see how Kim can get upset about it. I can see both sides. I’m sorry, but in all due respect, just bringing this up completely disproves your “intent” lol. I mean this in all good fun but saying that and immediately following it up is just funny, in other words it’s like saying “No offense, but you are really ugly.” lol. Anyways, some park news for the upcoming season. I would like to be the first to share opening day is April 5th, as of now Friday evenings in the spring are returning, which haven’t since 2021. Of course the schedule is being finalized so it could easily be taken off the table, which happened last year. The entertainment budget has increased this year, which has been pretty much nonexistent since Selim took it away after the 2021 season. The park is currently in the midst of hiring a new entertainment manager. Also it’s to my knowledge the park is likely receiving an attraction in 2026. Contrary to what corporate released. -

It’s a Giga Dive, kinda funny how Great Americas Dive will only retain its record for one year. -

Completely correct, they only listed here what has been confirmed with ride manufacturers and has funding already. There are things still in development at parks and not everything was announced. I know something not yet announced is coming to Six flags America, and I wouldn't doubt if we have something too. Our park does not have a track record of announcing things years ahead, neither does Six flags or Cedar Fair as a whole. This announcement was unprecedented, and was posted to overshadow the negative press Six flags has been receiving regarding the possible park sell offs (closures), as well as the many unannounced ride removals across the chain including Kingda Ka. In fact I believe we could see a couple ride removals ourselves. -Tsunami Soaker: Remained SBNO for the 2024 season which included boarding up the rides exit. Its very expensive to operate, water is expensive. Usually water attractions make the expense worth due to their high popularity, ie: Thunder River, Log flume, however Tsunami Soaker when operating almost never sees high wait times, which proves the expense just isn't worth the while. Not to mention its high maintenance costs. -Fireball: Removals from across the chain. Cedar Fair has a bad relationship with the rides manufacturer, Larson, which is owned by RMC. The LED light package was also broken last time I went. Both of which I could see being replaced with a flat ride in place. I recently brought up that a reimagined Holiday in the Park could return. I would like to mention that while overshadowed by the news of possible park sell offs. They mentioned a return of days removed from Legacy Six Flags Parks in Q4, which is the aforementioned, Holiday in the Park. They will begin rolling them out and further announcements would be made down the line. Currently, I dont know if thats news of whether its coming back or not. But the fact they brought it up, looks promising. -

I feel like both arguments are in play here, obviously building a show stopping investment, it will drive up attendance people will come. But to a degree they aren’t going to put that investment in a park that can’t prove it will be worthwhile. We do need to earn it. In my opinion, we did. I hate when people insist “Corporate hates our park” when they really don’t. We have received two flat rides, a coaster and a water park addition all within the past three years. We haven’t actually had an open plot to put a large coaster until tidal wave closed not that long ago. And since then the only small park to receive a half decent roller coaster is Bobcat at Great Escape, which waited much longer than us. Corporate doesn’t hate our park, they just invest in what they see fit. Of course we all would love our park to receive a big coaster, we just need to show up and give feedback. But I do agree that it’s long overdue. We were supposed to revive RMC Boss in 2021, as far as my understanding, the huge layout cut wouldn’t have made it the top coaster it should’ve been. We should get that investment in the next couple of years hopefully, and Six flags is already planning large attractions for 2026, with a coaster already planned for Magic Mountain, and the ride removals at Over Texas and Great Adventure. I hope we don’t see any removals but If we see any, I’d consider it confirmation of a 2026 attraction. -

Crazily enough, they already did Christmas in July! I remember it, in 2021 the Britannia section had a couple Christmas trees, and decorations. The one day I went the big inflatable marshmallow snowman was out on the roof. I also BELIEVE, but I can’t be certain, that the current lights strung up in that section of the park was added for Christmas in July. I couldn’t find almost anything regarding the event besides these screenshots from a short clip of an ides of march video. But the video was from July 4th Fest so most nothing was up yet. Six flags social media never posted about it from what I can tell and I don’t remember it even being listed on the events tab, which I'm sure you don’t remember either. I can’t be the only one that remembers this, right? -

I went to the park friday and someone on the team was out answering questions. From what I heard from sources over the past season I have put together to my understanding- the parks plan as of now. To get things out of the way, there will be no new attraction for next season. As of now nothing is planned or being relocated. This is in anticipation for the park to finally get "A big investment" in 26 or possibly the year after. I dont see this being RMC boss, the park had previously talked with RMC and with the parks budget it would cut down the layout of the attraction so much so that it wouldnt be the show stopping coaster everyone thought it would be. Then Covid came along and it got the Axe, it likely would never see the light of day. IMO Id expect something more along the lines of a B&M dive. The park should receive its own park president soon, my choice for it would be Ron Mckenzie. Previously the President at Over texas, He worked with St louis for many years, knows and loves our park and I believe if given the chance, he would return. I sometimes see him post things about our park on social media and make jokes about returning on his old coworkers posts. In the meantime, the focus for next year is really just looking at what the park has done right the past couple seasons and continue with it. A return back to entertainment, how large scale the shows would be, im not sure. But also continuing to focus on events and looking at guest feedback. I believe a return of Holiday in the park has been thrown around but Id doubt it would be for next season. -

Did the park announce anything about future enchancements, additions, events, etc? I couldnt make it this year but last year I felt they talked about a fair share of future projects and such. -

He got the job at some point last season, he has been working at six flags for a while, and he got the role. But we did start off sharing the same president, but I’m glad we have one of our own -

So with the topic of park presidents and social media. To my understanding at one point the park did have a social media manager, but it looks as though they left sometime in the 2022 season. I believe the social media accounts are run by park public relations director, Elizabeth Gotway, who is on the older end and has had much going on lately. Which could explain the lack in off season posts. On the topic of park presidents,Our current park president, Daniel “Danny” Snider, was there during the Dave Romer period, and is passionate about our park. I had the pleasure of meeting him briefly at the opening of rookie racer, and I touched on the topic of Holiday in the park, which he wasn’t too keen on talking on, but when asking whether they got rid of the decorations, he said that they lended some to Give Kids The World last year, for their christmas event, and it’s currently in Six Flags storage somewhere, but not at our park. But he confirmed that most of it is still in storage at our park, and to never say never. I think he is going to be a good fit for our park. -

Though getting a new ride is great, I would like to talk about events. I saw on twitter that Six Flags St. louis had a slide for events. I noticed a couple of the events they had announced were missing, I had just thought that they were smaller and shorter events that they didn’t put on the slide. So I went to check the website, and they had taken some of them off. They took off Cinco De Mayo Celebration, Summer Vibes, and Slushy Sundays. I am not completely distraught about Cinco De Mayo Celebration or Slushy Sundays, as I didn’t have any plans to attend them. Though I am a bit disappointed that they’ve removed Summer Vibes. It looked like a cool and big event. They had it at Great Adventure this past season and I was looking forward to it. But hopefully these event removals mean that Six Flags can put more funding into the other events. Six Flags did announce that Oktober Fest, which they had at many parks this past season, would come to ours. They also announced that Holiday Square would return this season. So I guess that means another year without Holiday in the park, it wasn’t expected. I am hoping that they remove the weird Cosmic Sleigh ride, in favor of expanding Holiday Square. They said that they weren’t doing HITP because it was hard to operate rides in the cold weather. That probably wasn't true, but if it is I would like them to open up the park with no rides. It would have the lights and entertainment, just without the rides. I am interested to see how this season turns out. -

If you haven’t heard, We’re getting a new ride for the 2023 season! It will be located in the go cart location and will have a minimum height requirement of 36’. I believe we might finally be getting a coaster, rumor has it Six Flags bought five of the single rail spaghetti bowl coasters. Also our opening date it April 1st! No fooling! We also are sharing a park president with great America. -

I’m sorry I have optimism that our park is going to stay open. I just think it’s a pretty bold claim that our park is closing within the next years. We will get a new ride eventually, just be patient. Most theme parks don’t get new additions every year, our park is not a big park so it obviously won’t get a ride every year. Yeah I know they can’t advertise those, but I see it as Six flags improving our park so it is able to operate for many years to come. -

What?! Our park isn’t going to close? Where are you getting that? Worlds of fun hadn’t gotten a ride since 2017, and no one thought they would close. Us not getting a 2023 addition isn’t the end of the world, in those “rival years” they’d go a bit without getting a ride. Holiday in the park was simply not profitable, they had it for 6 years, it’s not like they are taking away fright fest. They replaced most roofs last year, we just got a new ride if that means anything? We are still getting investments, they just aren’t as noticeable. Sorry but I don’t think our park is going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
