  1. I went to the park on Wed Thurs 7-12 and 7-13. Crowds were surprisingly light. On Thurs rode X2 twice in a row around 3PM since there was no line. Worst lines were for rapids as it was the only water ride open at about an hour....mostly walk ons and short lines all day. Rode Justice League Battle for Metropolis 5 times. Got the high score in my vehicle except for the first ride and was in top 5% of all time each time I did well. Wait time for the ride was very short. Seemed like a long cue would get some shade but the short line just before the doors is in the blazing sun. At one point they were making everyone dump their liquids except water bottles with caps (no souvenir cups with liquid) but later they were allowing it. You have to take all your stuff on the ride with you as you enter and exit the vehicle at different spots and no lockrs. At one point they were allowing groups of one or two through the single rider line and at another point they closed this line for no apparent reason. The ride itself was pretty cool. I don't feel the 3D is that good and I had trouble with my shooting accuracy (while still getting top 5% scores) but the practical effects and motion simulation with the immersive screens is pretty cool. The first pre show room on the first day had some screen distortion, a horizontal line of distortion on the screen. Seemed they fixed it by day 2. I still haven't been able to find the one target worth 6,666 points (only way your score will end with a 6).....signage indicates 20,000 point targets too but I didn't find them. Anyone got some scoring tips post them up
  2. Is the JB's barbecue place that used to be right in front of where JLBfM is still there or did it get replaced by this pub thing? That BBQ was one of the best places on the dining plan. Going to make a trip out to the park in a couple of weeks......
  3. We had a platinum pass so we got everything done (left the park 2 hours ago) but I really would have liked to ride twisted colossus one more time without waiting 2 hours Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk I got in line for Twisted Colossus when the wait time posted was 3 hours yesterday and it was the longest I had ever seen the line for the ride. The wait only took 1.5 hours, I knew it was super crowded and figured it would be faster than the X2 line and I couldn't stay till close. That line moves fast all the time. 45 minutes inside the que and 45 minutes in the overflow line.
  4. I started visiting the park in the 80's and currently have season pass and have been going regularly these past 2 months. Apocalypse has been closed for awhile but I remember it as fast and fun when I rode it a few years ago but I have trouble ranking it since it's been awhile. I remember it well. 1. X2 - still the best ride in the park, most intense experience in the park and enthusiasts who whine about roughness on it are just babies who can't handle it. Its a bit jerky in a couple of spots sure but it's never caused me pain. It's like doing insane skydiving maneuvers...no other coaster is even close to that. 2. Twisted Colossus - Holy hay this ride is awesome and a close second. I get duels all the time riding this (not every time). I finally know what air time is and it's fun. tier 2 3. Tatsu - I am not a fan of the flying position but this is a great coaster. Pretzel loop is amazing, terrain and views are cool. I think trying to lift my head and look forward puts strain on my neck on this ride, maybe I should look 90 degree down at all times? 4. Superman- only ride that dislodged a contact lens for me. The weightlessness, launch, and drop are great. Backwards is an improvement. 5. Fool Throttle - I don't dig the YOLO theme but this ride is surprisingly good and unique. It's close with Superman but loop is not as cool a high drop to me. 6. Goliath- I used to find this kind of boring but I have been enjoying it more. The MCBR sucks but it's kind of nerve racking on the left side as it leans in to the turn after tier 3 7. Drop of Doom - this ride is guaranteed nervousness and butterflies and the drop is long and the brakes are smooth life savers.. Superman shakes are cool. Awesome ride but it's marked down for not being a coaster 8. Apocalypse- I remember this as super fast and fun but haven't ridden it in awhile 9. Riddlers Revenge- I ride comfortable and smoothly with no headbanging but I pretty much never bang my head on a coaster. 10. Scream!- This is a solid smooth ride in my view even if there is no theming 11. Batman The ride- this seems like Ninja with out the terrain but better and way more intense tier 4 12. Viper - used to be king. Wow has this park grown over the years. It is rough but I don't bang my head or hurt myself like wimpy enthusiasts. Still love to ride it. 12. Revolution- kill the VR or give us no VR line back! 13. Ninja 14. Gold Rusher 15. Green Lantern First Flight - I have ridden this twice and never flipped. I haven't experienced pain. Short quick drops remind me of flashback which I also didn't like too much. tier 5 the rest
  5. I applied and got a discover card just so I could use the discover card entrance and apparently there is no discover card entrance right now. LAME. Anyone know when they actually have this entrance? Its on their website I have been reading this thread and was wondering if overall the bring a friend free days have been uber crowded like the February day last year or have they added more days this year so the bring a friend free days crowds are more spread out? I used to come to the park a bunch growing up but once I started having kids in 2001 I didn't go much. Did Disney and Universal and for awhile but now I have some kids who are in to the thrill rides again. Those other parks are more themed experinces that cost much more, more of a destination park where as magic mountain is a regional thrill park. I am more of a thrill ride junky and would prefer to go to magic mountain and it's just a bonus that is so much dang cheaper. I haven't been to parks outside of So Cal so I can't consider myself much of an enthusiast but I do have a desire to visit other parks hopefully soon. Enthusiast often seem to come off to me as sort of snobs. I don't skip any rides because they are too rough, I am not that wimpy. Sure some are rougher than others but I'm not riding for smoothness I am riding for thrills. X2 is my favorite and I think it is simply too intense for some enthusiasts....I mean sure I occasionally bang my legs towards the end of the ride but big flipping deal, it didn't hurt or leave a bruise or anything. Its just a wild insane ride with an epic first drop that does insane aerial acrobatic maneuvers, it's as close to skydiving as I have gotten and I love it.
  6. I just got my first season pass on 12-29-16 but not Gold since I only bought two. Obviously I am jealous of the Gold pass early access entrance. I read however that there is another entrance for Discover card holders https://www.sixflags.com/magicmountain/newsroom/tips-to-enter-park-quickly 5. Use your Discover® Card If you bring your Discover card to the park, we have a special entrance reserved just for you. Look for the orange carpet leading to the Discover Cardmember Entrance. Flash your card along with your tickets or Season Pass, and off you go. I am thinking of getting a Discover card just for this perk but I have never seen this orange carpet or entrance. Do they still have this? Where in relation to the Gold Pass entrance is it as I usually get in the line right next to the Gold pass and then slide over when it converts to a regular line. Season Dining pass is awesome, Magic Mountain seems like a great value to pass holders so far. I been 3 times and except for the crowds the first time it has been awesome
