Hi everyone
I'm finally planning that coaster-trip I've been dreaming about like forever...I'm pretty new to this and really impressed about all the info gathered in this Forum. Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions!
About me...I'm 26 years old and from germany. I love action and adventure and can't get enough of the adrenaline. Open-minded and easy going
Now about the trip. I plan on flying in and out of New York JFK and take a rental car from there.
October might not be the perfect time for this since most of the parks are only open on the weekends but i hope the Halloween theming and long operating hours will make up for that at least somewhat. It was the only long enough period for me to get off work so i didn't really have a choice there.
Let me start with my basic plan:
11.10.____Fly to New York
12.10.____SFGA(open 11-10pm)________________drive to NY__________1h20min
14.10.____Lake Compounce___________________ drive to SFNE________0h50min
15.10.____SFNE(open 12-11pm)________________drive to Hershey______5h00min
16.10.____Hershey(open 12-9pm)______________ drive to Dollywood____8h30min (3 days time for the distance)
17.-19.10. no parks open...find sth else to do
20.10.____Dollywood(open 10-6pm)____________ drive to SFOG________3h55min
21.10.____SFOG(open 6-Midnight)______________drive to Carowinds____3h55min
22.10.____Carowinds(open 10-5.30pm)_________ drive to King Dominion 5h00min
23.10.____King Dominion(open 10.30-10pm)_____ drive to New York____ 5h00min
24.10.____Fly back from New York
I planned this trip with a fellow coaster friend but unfortunately it looks like he might not get the time off from work.
So now I'm trying to figure out if it is doable on my own.
Several things to consider:
1. Money: splitting the costs for rental car and hotel rooms would have made it a lot cheaper, so trying to find ways to save money on that regard. I was thinking carpools for example but might be difficult because
2. Driving Times: with 2 drivers i was sure the distances between parks are manageable. Now I'm wondering if it is reasonable to be driving so long especially since i can picture myself being tired after the parks. I think splitting the drives will make sense (2h in the evening and 2h in the morning). Check-in times at the various Hotels also sth to consider here.
I would appreciate some opinions from people who have already done a trip like that regarding the route and parks I'm planning to visit and the logistics.
Also i invite anyone interested to join in on the trip or maybe part of it and would love to find people to meet up with at the parks!
