  1. Great adventure had two log flumes? Operating at the same time?
  2. In my opinion, the initial release after the pull back is one of the most exhilarating feelings i've had on a coaster. Being in the front going up the second tower is a bit creepy too as you feel you're never going to stop. But the rest of the coaster is just typical boomerang style where you may or may not survive without a headache. If you are going with a FP, you will definitely be able to do everything you want. Especially that early in the season. Typically wont be too busy in the first place. I had a gold FP last year, mid September when the park was slammed, and we were able to get on everything we wanted multiple times no problem at all. Even though Superman had a 2+ hour wait, so our flash pass gave us a ride in about an hour so we slotted in right after lunch and it worked perfectly. And as the day went on Superman waits went down so rerides weren't much of an issue. Enjoy SFNE.
  3. Haha. I was planning on taking the trip that weekend and then I heard about the event so figured Toro is my favorite ride how could I pass it up. Im just doing it for the ERT. And Mexican fiesta lunch? Sounds alright by me. Im sure people are wiped out by the second half of Toro so that makes sense itll be the time to get the most. Also is Skull Mountain VR in session by then? Would really just like to walk in and get a quick back row ride before the nightmare of VR takes away that option.
  4. Has anyone here been to the riding of the bulls event in the past? Coming down from Boston for it and it will be my first ACE event. Just curious to see how many people usually show up for it. Says there is an hour of ERT on Nitro in the morning and two hours on Toro after close. Just curious to how many rides we can actually get in on those rides in those times. Thanks!
  5. This this this. The last time I went it blew me away at how quick this crew was every single time. Compared to the crew at bizarro... man that was a nightmare. even with the half empty trains that there was that day, there would be two waiting to unload and they were still trying to get one out of the station. slow as molasses.
  6. Definitely, definitely try to drive down Saturday night and stay at a hotel. Otherwise leave even earlier to ensure you're there for park opening. From Boston myself and the couple times I've gone down this year I've stayed the night before. It'll never take you only 4 hours. My sisters left on a Saturday morning at 6 and got there at 12 and with security, as you've said it is an extremely busy park, every day I've gone at least, security alone can take a while to get through. And if you want to hit up everything without a flash pass it's doable but I would plan on staying the whole day. My suggestion would be drive Down Friday night and spend a whole Saturday at the park. Also, skull mountain back row. You won't regret it.
  7. Was at the park on Saturday.. regarding goliath, it appears that on the first tower there is a missing platform that is on the other tower, which was most likely damaged when the cable snapped. I cant exactly remember if both towers had a platform in the same place but I would assume so, and it looked the the beams there were missing screws that would be attached to something else. No indication on when it will be reopening. Going to highly doubt it will be open for you trip but I hope so. As far as Superman goes, I intended on getting to the back as it open and hitting up superman right away to avoid waiting two hours, but with traffic we got in through security at 11 and by the time I got to Superman it was already at a two hour wait. Go right away, or wait til the last hour of the night. It appears they shut off the VR an hour before close and the operations start running normally again, dispatching every 2.5 - 3 minutes or so. As long as your not dying to try the VR, I would suggest waiting until the end of the day if you are planning on being there all day. VR is a nifty little gimmick, but that's all it is; a gimmick. The ride is amazing as it is. And a night time ride is well worth it.
  8. I was lucky enough to go about a month ago on a Wednesday and everything was just about a walk on. A friend and I went on Goliath and we were literally the only two people on the ride. So we sat front row and man it was a hell of a lot better than the back. We sat second to last row on it earlier in the day. I hear a lot of negativity about that ride, but I have to say that front row ride was damn exhilarating. Going up that second tower being in the front, I didn't think we were ever gonna stop.
  9. With the flash pass.. Say you have the Gold pass, which cuts the wait time in half. Say its 1 o clock, and the wait is a half hour, so you reserve the ride.. with a wait time of 15 minutes? Does it give you a time to show up.. Like you can't show up until 1:15 and then is there timeframe where if you don't show up its voided? Like say if you don't show up by 1:25 or something? Just curious as I have never gotten the flash pass.
  10. Went on it this past weekend. Honestly had a horrible experience between the group of kids that were on the ride and the horrible ops lady that kept telling ppl to put loose items in the hallway, then had to tell them oh those actually need to be on a shelf. And she spoke so quietly no one could hear her anyways.. it was just a terrible experience in that regard. Because of the horrible children in our group, I couldn't really hear the voice over's particularly well, but it seemed to be a more coherent story than the SFNE version. In ours the lady says lets try to bring him back from the dead, then the room spins, ride over. Never really sure if he ever came back.. I do agree the theming and everything looked a lot nicer in Jersey. Hell, nobody even realizes theres an attraction in the building in SFNE, its so poorly themed or whatnot on the outside.
  11. Houdini is fun as long as you don't have a bunch of kids who don't speak English on the ride, not understanding 30 people sssshhing them, and screaming the whole time as if they were on kingda ka. But can someone seriously explain Houdini. We have one in New England and I've always enjoyed it as a flat... My assumption is that the room moves around you as the seats move slightly back and forth? Or it could legitimately be magic.
  12. Definitely all good points. I have an extended family member who lives 20 minutes from SFOG and the company he works for runs the Flash Pass system, So if I'm with him, we can get free access to the pass. So I am legitimately trying to plan a trip just for that. Will definitely be looking into it in the future. Appreciate the advice. Especially that part about the back row of skull mountain..
  13. Haha that sounds fantastic. Friday was a decent day at the park, and after the school groups cleared out the park was quite empty, was able to re-ride Nitro three times without even getting off. Toro ops were blazing fast and was able to ride three times in 20 minutes even though we had to walk through the queue again with just a station wait. Longest wait was Ka and that was only 20 minutes, and we got back in line and waited maybe 10 minutes. Satruday.. well that was a different story. So I appreciate the flash pass advice. Definitely think I will be investing in that if I can get back to the park this summer. Damn I wish I lived closer. Superman and cyclone are fantastic and all, but now with the VR I am dreading even attempting to go back to SFNE this year.
  14. Never used the flash pass, but thinking of getting it if I can make it back to Jersey this summer since I can see how damn busy it can get there. So stupid question, but it sounds like you say you can only reserve one ride at a time, and not another ride until the pass has been scanned on the current ride? is that what you're saying?
  15. I wanted to throw this out there.. On my trip to the park this past weekend, I happened to get in line for skull mountain and made a point to wait for the back row. I am gonna say that I was very pleasantly surprised by that airtime on the first drop haha. It was worth all the hype. Only place to ride.
  16. I was there on Friday and Saturday and that thing was clanking quite loud going up the lift hill. Now, im not a regular, only my second trip to the park, but I can't recall if it was that loud my first trip a couple months back.
  17. Well, I can't speak on it for sure because it is not rolling out to the public until tomorrow I believe. When I was able to get on it there was only a couple people on each ride actually doing the VR. For me it took probably two minutes for the girl to initial get the thing on my head ( they tighten all the straps for you) and then once I sat down they had to put a new one on me because it wasn't calibrated right. So multiplying that by a lot more people getting set up with them and countless issues of calibration I don't think its gonna be too smooth. Not right away at least.
  18. Haha I appreciate the spelling out, and I completely understand the whole tongue-in-cheek nature of this and all other back row discussions I've seen on here. I will not be making it my legitimate first or last ride in the park, but I will definitely be stopping in on my way to or from Nitro. As I said I was pleasantly surprised with SM. I have only been to great adventure once, (two days) and I would rank the coasters as my favorites like this: El Toro Nitro Ka Bizarro Batman Superman Green Lantern (I did actually enjoy this as it was the only stand up coaster I've ever been on, didn't bother me too much as I've heard tons of complaints)
  19. Hotel I stayed at a couple months back was perfect. Hampton inn in robbinsville. Bout 15 minute drive to the park. Nice hotel, had a pool and all. I looked into getting it again for next weekend, a month back and it was already booked up so we're staying about a half hour away. Can't speak for availability of rooms but that will be my top choice on return trips.
  20. I am loving all this back row love. Ill have to pencil this in as my first and last stop of the day.
  21. So im planning my return trip to SFGAdv next week and im trying to do my best to get in on this whole skull mountain back row thing.. I was thoroughly impressed with skull mountain based off what type of coaster it is. Really enjoyed it. Is this back row all its made out to be???
  22. Great day at the park today. Plenty of school groups but other than that the park was dead. Everything was a walk on or barely a 5 minute wait besides superman. Our first go on superman was probably a 20 minute wait. We tried to hit up superman right before we left and it was a walk on and they were doing technical rehearsals for the VR. The catch was you had to buy a t shirt to try it out. Figured I might as well since I wanted to try the VR but have no desire to see how nightmarish the lines will be once it's in full swing. My two cents in the VR: it was definitely pretty cool. Video was superman saving you from some villian and guiding your train to safety as he beats up on the villian. Flow with the ride was pretty good. Didn't seem awkward at all. But I can already see all the problems. It took the girl like two minutes to fit it on my head when I got in the station. When I sat in the coaster and put the goggles all the way on and saw the image I saw a building in front of me and looked around and saw some city streets. After about a minute I noticed what I was seeing to the left was probably supposed to be straight ahead. So I had an ops person come over and they had to put a completely headset on me. All in all its a cool gimmick but it's gonna wreck wait times as expected.
  23. Have a planned trip to head there tomorrow. Hopefully Superman is up and running all day. Would be a bummer if I can't get one last go round before the nightmare of VR hits. Is anybody out at the park today with knowledge if its up and running?
  24. I have a gold pass from SFNE and I went to SFGadv in April.... Parking was free.. just flash the pass and it gets you in. As for the Bring A Friend free days, if you have the six flags app you can view the restrictions, it will tell you if its only good in your park or which other parks it is good in.
  25. Quite interesting, but I guess it must make sense somewhere along the line. Regardless, still loved the ride and can't wait to get back on. Just glad I wasn't on Zumanjaro when that was stuck. Considering that was mid-day I am guessing there is more of an issue with that one.
