Hi Gutterflower !
Concerning Harborland in chinese "Phoenix Mountain Happy Park", here is a new report about it :
I'm Helloningbo Editor-in-Chief and will soon do a report exclusively on the coaster and I'm now waiting for a better weather (a bit rainy this week)
Need anymore info, don't hesitate to contact me.
See Ya Funriders !
Hello and welcome to the site
Looking forward to the coaster report and thanks for the previous ones.
i hope to head back out to china when i have finished university. at the pace things are moving it could a long trip . out of interest do you know if the park at Chime Long Night Zoo has a website? it sounds pretty interesting.
-
that went up fast

It appears these rides can fill most niches with the launch just taking the place of the lift hill. With Loopers like Speeding Car, Speed Monster and Kannonen (sp?) and more hyper like layouts like Superman. while creating their own phallic catagory with Stealth, KK and TD. Intamin can pretty much tailor the ride to whatever a park wants.
I'll bet we will be seeing lots more of these rides in all shapes and sizes. Id love to see a rocket with a traditional hyper layout after a tophat

SOrry for double post (but they are several days appart and its new news)
this web site http://www.sankei.co.jp/news/060220/kei056.htm has it at 130 kilometers per hour (80miles per hour) and 65m (214ft?)
Not 500ft but not too shabby
-
I'm not sure
http://bj.happyvalley.com.cn/images/news/2006123141916540.jpg
this picture makes it appear much taller (see far left) and the news report suggests 800m long ant 39.8m tall which is both taller and longer than Superman. but i dont know how accurate it is.
-
just a quick update
the track for the flier is on its way up. not great pics though
-
another new blog and some new supports are up.
dont think im expecting much more than a stealth clone here though
-
Its actually a clone of Shenlin at Happy Valley and the new one at Happy Kingdom in China. but i agree its an interesting if rather short layout.
-
Space world are getting in on the whole construction bloging thing now too not very much info yet but worth keeping a look out on.

A bit more than a year and a half ago while i was living in thailand i got to visit Dreamworld for the day. the parks packed into a small strip of land outside of bangkok but has a lovely atmosphere and some nice suprises.
Rides of note are the 2 vekoma coasters and a nice variety of flat rides. Although the park doesnt contain that many rides there are plenty of odditys to keep you amused.
When we arrived we caught the sky ride to the back of the park in order to beat the crowds. only to find you cant get off at the other end and it sends you back to the front.... Doh.
There is some good themeing on some the rides as well
anyway i shall let the pictures talk for themselves
One the way home we passed the giant phallic symbol that is victory monument
The park has plenty of little things to keep you amused
A not so good vekoma. The indoor "space mountain" was smooth but a bit dull.
Considering it was almost 100degrees this guy must hate his job.
I believe this ride used to reside in Australia. Its actually pretty good fun.
The parks main attraction. a suspended coaster full of Vekoma goodness.
this well themed rapids ride contained a deer that once again peed on you on the way round
Even the trees were friendly
Possibly the strangest thing ive seen at a park yet. this dog had a sensor that made it pee on you as you walked past
The parks top spin. THe park was so empty we got a quadruple cycle... not to be done on a full stomach
the parks short but pretty cool splash boat ride.
After arriving an hour early there wasnt much to do except take pictures of the gate.
-
Having only been on the 2 i still love them. and with Kumali this year i cant see why it would change. But then ive never had a problem with head banging at all. Odd.
The idea behind them is genius and one that has served Vekoma well. helping many smaller parks get an iconic ride for their area and help them boost attendance for very little.
-
cool thanks. I've picked up some invaluble tips from backpacking around china and thailand about how to keep costs down so when i do go i should be able to keep the costs at student levels. Although im expecting japan to be considerebly more expensive.
i think i shall purchace a lonely planet guide in the next few weeks and start estimating
-
Hope you dont mind me asking but how much overall did this trip cost? im looking to head out there soon. Trying to get some ideas on the average cost.
-
a few images of Mysterious Island and rides. a nice little collection for such a small park
a very phallic building lol.
First TT in asia i guess?
Edit: nice layout pic you managed to post that as i was typing this post
Edit 2: (will keep edited as i dig stuff up )
Heres some construction shots of Another brand spanking new Chinese park called Haborland and yet another intamin coaster
The coaster takes shape
This ride opened last month
Intamins plan to take over the world continues
Also a piece of artwork showing in it the B&M flier for the Bejing Happy Kingdom (doesnt show much though lol)
http://www.actoys.net/bbs/attachment/Mon_0601/85_135131.jpg
Just came across this though. a superb construction pic of the whole place. Looking pretty damn cool. THe SLC is in the top right. The supports on the building to the left are the B&M flier...... and the bottom right is the Mine train. Now thats themeing
http://bj.happyvalley.com.cn/images/news/2006123141916540.jpg
oh yeah and one last thing
hows this for a themed flat ride
Edit (again)
http://bj.happyvalley.com.cn/park/map/atlantis/images/servemap.jpg
This is interesting a park map taken from the offical site. Shows the atlantis section.... notice anything interesting about the Layout of the flier? an oddity if ever i saw one. i can only assume this is left over from the planning days
-
did a quick hunt
That is a big loop
-
Indeed the B&M will be themed to atlantis and according to the artwork will be very well themed. The ride is supposed to be simular to S:UF at the SF parks.
The vekoma track you mention above is representative of Shenlin and the mine train found at Happy Valley. (the far right logo of the four) Shenlin is a a clone of the one going to happy capital (or kingdom depending where you read (Far left logo)) and also a clone of Kumali going up at Flamingoland UK.
I agree with rollermonkey about china. while i was there i only visited 2 smaller parks but the place is incredibly large (especially for someone from the UK ). although thankfully the best parks are situated around the main cities and overnight trains are not too hard to come by. but its something you should research thourally before embarking on a trip
-
Actually i believe this to be the same as the habourland coaster. Phoenix Mountain is an area of the habourland complex. The photo above clearly shows the octolooper. i assume the artical is refering to this coaster. Although interestingly the Habourland offical site shows a picture of a Vekoma SLC but with the same colours as the Looper. odd....
Edit: beat me to it there
-
Last year it was believed that Intamin had sold 2 rockets to asia. Zaturn Popped up last week in japan and it turns out the other one is heading to China at what is believed to be a new park.
The same park is getting an S&S screaming squirell too
This goes with the announcement earlier of the Vekoma Motorbike At Chime Long Night Zoo.
the already confirmed Vekoma SLC, Mine Train and the B&M Flier at Happy Capital
as well as this months opening of a Monte Makaya, Avalancha cloned Intamin octo looper at habour land
A couple of pics of that park here
The chinese scene has taken off recently might be worth taking a trip back out there one of these days
-
This picture complements yours nicely rollermonkey
Doesnt show much more appart from those lead up or lead off supports... the mystery deepens
-

Came across this page. plenty more here although the pictures are dark. Roller monkey any good info? my japanese is basic to say the least
-
loving the look of this. love that awesome looking Horseshoe bend after the air time hill.
-
I read on a japanese message board that the Park has stated it will be taller and faster than Titan (which i believe is 197ft but not sure on the speed) and they said a cost of 250,000,000 yen which works out at about £12million (i assume thats a little over $20million) that should budget them for something on the size of superman: escape i think.
RCDB has it down as Blue track and white supports too
Edit:
Track has arrived on site. hopefully more pictures tomorrow
-
Not a mirrored clone.
If you look at the footer layout the ride is obviously not a mirrored clone.
Check this forum where someone has drawn a possible layout sketch.
Its very simular but baby steps
We also know that the ride will feature the Full-Full Element. which X does not.
