  1. Incase you guys missed this. Should be a crazy weekend at the Dome. I mean, $12.95 for a all-day ride pass? That's crazy cheap.

Cupcakes, confetti and clowns will abound as The Adventuredome at Circus Circus prepares to turn 20 years young on August 23.

To mark the milestone, one of America’s largest indoor theme parks will host a month-long celebration that will include special pricing, commemorative gifts and a birthday party in true circus style.

Beginning July 29 guests are invited to submit their favorite park photo memory to The Adventuredome’s Facebook page for a chance to win a staycation prize package including:

-Two-night stay in a newly remodeled Casino Tower guest room

-$50 dining credit for the Garden Grill or Blue Iguana

    -Family four-pack to The Adventuredome

    Thursday, August 22

-Throwback Thursday with 1993 opening day prices for all-day ride passes; $12.95 (Premium: 48 inches or taller) and $8.95 (Junior: 33-48 inches tall) for savings of $15 and $8 respectively

-Free commemorative button with the purchase of an all-day ride pass

-Free T-shirt and birthday hat to the first 50 guests purchasing an all-day ride pass

-Join the entertaining Circus Circus clowns at 11 a.m. to sing “Happy Birthday” around a special cupcake tower and salute the confetti cannon as it fires off in celebration

-Guests are invited to enjoy sweet cupcake treats while supplies last

-Enjoy $20 meal deals at the Main Snack Bar where guests can choose one of the following:

---One 16-inch cheese pizza and two medium soft drinks

---Two cheeseburgers with one large order of fries and two large soft drinks

Friday, August 23 Sunday, August 25

-Premium (48 inches or taller) all-day ride passes for only $20; Junior (33-48 inches tall) all-day ride passes stay the same at $16.95

-Free commemorative button with the purchase of an all-day ride pass

-$20 meal deals at the Main Snack Bar

The five-acre, family favorite opened in 1993 with four major attractions and has grown to 25 rides and attractions 20 years later. The Adventuredome is a hit with guests of all ages, especially during summer months when the park maintains a constant temperature of 72 degrees.

“I’ve had the privilege of watching thousands of families enjoy this thrilling theme park for the past 20 years, and I can’t wait to see what the next 20 has in store for us,” said Tom Nolan, vice president of attractions operations at Circus Circus.

Along with celebrating the past, The Adventuredome is looking ahead to the future with the addition of the El Loco roller coaster. This gravity-defying attraction will take coaster enthusiasts on the ride of their lives with negative G drops and heart-pumping twists and turns. El Loco will become part of The Adventuredome family this December.

  2. Most of them were back up and running the next day in some capacity. Gilly's was even open on Saturday. There are still some visible remnants of the storm. Circus Circus just got the sign on the Skyrise tower facing I-15 working at full capacity again, Mandalay Bay still has some of the upright lighting out in sections, Luxor has one the chaser lights on the southwest corner out, there is still a completely destroyed billboard near Mirage on the Spring Mountain exit. Other than that, most everything that I've seen is back to normal.

  3. Had very limited expectations for The Wolverine (can you blame me after X-Men Origins?). The movie turned out to be pretty great. It felt like a long delayed sequel to X3, but seems to have gotten the series back on track combining the original X-Men world while setting it up to clash with the First Class world. Really looking forward to Days of Future Past now.

  4. The storm was pretty awesome. A lot of hotels have lights out on the building as a result of the rain and high winds; but for the most part everything is fine, just a bit soggy. It continued tonight but really didn't hit the strip much. Supposed to keep going through Monday night into tuesday morning and then finally clear out.

    Gotta love summer monsoons.

  5. ^It's scheduled for 2016, but they were supposed to restart construction in June and it's just sitting there. I've yet to see a single person out on the site and I drive past everyday/ work next door. Hell, I even saw a work crew on Fountainbleu the other day and that's deader than dead right now.

Right now, I'm most excited to see what they do with Sahara turning it into SLS. They are moving fast with the demolition of it right now.

  6. Couple photos of Monte Carlo's facade update. They've torn up a lot and began to lay foundation. The photo's aren't great, just iPhone pics from spots where the banners on the fence had gaps, but you can get the idea of what's going on.

Also a picture of MGM's marquee that is currently undergoing a major renovation. Maybe once it's done they can take off those awful wraps on the building.

The middle of the facade. You can still see the glass doors in place.

  7. Disney always does huge media announcements. Like previously said, they did the Monstrous Summer announcement, but they also do those big announcements in Times Square like Celebrate Today and all that. It's rare Disney doesn't have a huge press event for their stuff.

For someone like me, who absolutely loves Disney Parks but doesn't partake it the crazy fan events, I could care less where they announce it. I just like reading the details when it happens.

  8. Man of Steel: Just like The Avengers and Transformers 3, this is a film about aliens destroying New York.

Only Avengers was New York. Transformers 3 was Chicago and Man of Steel was the fake city of Metropolis.

Saw Monsters University. It was surprisingly hilarious! I always liked Monsters Inc, but it was never close to being my favorite Pixar movie. That said, I thought Monsters University was much better than the original. I feel like this is finally Pixar getting back on the right track. I haven't been impressed with any of their movies since UP came out in 2009.

  9. Watch the new coaster be a mad mouse to replace the old one. But hoping it's something unique to the area like a Euro Fighter or something. I'm excited to see what's in store for the park. I think it's safe to say the "adventure river" will go in Chang's old spot along with some of the new slide complexes. It just seems like the logical spot with it's size and proximity to the water park area.

Glad to hear all the coasters are staying (except maybe GL). I was expecting Twisted Twins to go bye bye since it's been so long since it operated, but glad to hear they have something big in store for it. The way it sounds in the release, they may be combining the tracks? "...we are well on our way to converting the two intertwined wooden coasters known as Twisted Twins into a much superior ride, which will debut in 2016." It goes from refering to them as 2 coasters to a much superior ride (singular). I may be reading too much into it but that's they way it came off when I first read it. Maybe an Iron Horse remodel combining the tracks like the rumor for Colossus at SFMM.

Interested in what they will do to T2. I've always heard it was the absolute worst of the SLCs so I wonder if anything can be done to improve it.

  10. Man of Steel - It was by far the best Superman movie to date. Gone is the overly cheesy boy scout Superman from the previous films (Ok, there was still some cheese). But, the action was something that we have all wanted to see for so long, so long. Good lord, how nice it was to see someone get punched through a building. My only major issue with the movie was with it's editing. I would have preferred the more linear approach than the flash backs. It was sometimes obnoxious that it felt like the movie was rolling and then BAM, flash back, everything slows down. But overall it was a great film and one of my favorite Superhero films to date. Bring on Man Of Steel Rises and Justice League!

Fast and Furious 6 - Wow this movies are stupid, but how I love them so. This is yet again just ridiculous, off the wall hollywood no-brainer action... but it's done soooooo well. This movie never apologizes for it's absurdity nor does it try to act like it's ever real, and for that it's easy to let it all just happen. Not sure this one beats Fast Five, but it's a close second in my opinion. And it's ability to finally tie Tokyo Drift into the overall storyline was very welcome.

  11. The park opened Spongebob Squarepants 4D: The Great Jelly Rescue on Friday. It's a pretty great little show and in my opinion far better than the old one. I like the old one but this film has more of the Spongebob humor and some pretty funny jokes. Also the film has alternate versions so it has a built in re-rideability to it. The picture below shows off the new sign and some of the facade. The front isn't finished yet as they still need to hang the 4D theater sign again as well as reinstall some lighting. To the right of what you see in the picture there is also a Dora area of the wall making it easier to find that attraction as well (Spongebob and Dora share the same theater).

  12. Despicable Me is the most popular ride right now at USO and should fit in great here.

I don't know that it's the most popular, but it's capacity and appeal to everyone does cause it to have some lengthy lines. I hope that the USH one has improved capacity based on the larger building size. I'm excited though, it was by far one of the better 3D attractions I've experienced and I think it will fit in great at USH. I'm stoked for the flat ride too, I guess I never realized that USH never had one. Nice to round out the offerings of the park a bit more.

  13. Finally saw Django Unchained. It was easily my favorite Tarentino film (but this is coming from someone who doesn't really love Tarentino). It worked at a great pace and never left me bored. Leo was outstanding as the villain and Sam Jackson was such a d!ck.

It's funny. I read Will Smith passed on the title role because he thought the violence and language would negatively effect his image and career. In unrelated news, After Earth is on track to be one of the biggest flops of all time.
