  1. I've heard some whispers about Tidal Wave (I know, same old, same old). One thing they might be considering is removing TW and actually moving the Moon Cars over to that area at some point. What seems most likely to me is if SFStL continues the 'recent' trend of essentially replacing rides with newer versions (ala Skyscreamer, Tsunami Soaker, and JL:BfM). With a bunch of rides (especially flat rides) really getting up there in age, it would help to spruce up the appearance of the park while continuing to provide essentially the same experience. One in particular that I think could be a candidate is Highland Fling. It'll be 40 next year, and although they had the refurb last year with new (relatively speaking) gondolas, it's probably getting harder to maintain and is down a lot more for maintenance issues this year than it seems like it has been in the past. A good replacement would be a Zamperla Endeavour, like the one they just opened at SFOT. The complete refurb of the Carousel that's been talked about for a while has been pushed back a few times, so that might come in the next few years as well (it is 101 years old, after all).
  2. As far as Boomerang's concerned, it shouldn't be going anywhere, at least for a while. However, the GP shouldn't expect it to be reopened any time before at least Fright Fest. On another note, Superman went down for the night yesterday a few hours before close, and from the sound and look of things (they've already parked the cars at the top) it might be a few days before it's back up. Maybe not, but it's worth noting.
  3. Not really. They've known what happened for at least two weeks now, and as far as I know also why it happened, but haven't said anything publicly aside from the standard press release they gave immediately following the incident (therefore I won't/can't really say anything either; however, I imagine it'll still be a fair bit of time before Boomerang's up and running again).
  4. This is probably nothing, but I believe the chain dog that "catches" the chain is on either Car 3 or 4 (the ones that derailed). From the SFStL (Arrow) video, you can see just how much the train wobbles at those two cars when it catches. Any link?
  5. At B:TR they even used to wear tuxedos.
  6. Here's a video of Ninja in 1995 with the old color scheme.
  7. The AC at BTR has been broken for quite some time now. In fact, they just got a new compressor put in but the whole system still isn't working right, and so now they have to have someone come in and break something down to get at the problem(s). Hopefully it'll be working once that's all taken care of. Thunder River has 8/9 boats technically available for use, however there's usually a few parked in the reservoir due to lack of daily need. The 9th boat I've heard they can't get on until both wave makers get fixed, which is still in the works. The Boss just got its third train back from the shop last weekend, so not everyone on the crew was certified for three-train operation immediately. They worked very hard to get as many people certified for three trains as quickly as possible, including many of those who are not part of Boss's home crew but are just cross-trained at it. Three-train operation is only used on an as-needed basis; three trains do not start the day on the track (unless high park attendance is expected), so whenever the line gets long enough to warrant a third train, the ride has to be shut down until maintenance can transfer the train onto the circuit. In situations where they need to keep three trains on the track in case the ride gets very busy, but the line isn't long enough to warrant actually loading all three trains at that time, one train (typically the yellow train when all three are on) will be leaded (those bags are actually filled with 40 lbs of lead) so it will make it through the whole circuit without any trouble, and so it's easily able to made operational when it actually is needed.
  8. A few days ago we overheard one of the managerial supervisors talking with one of the maintenance guys about them having seen the plans for a "big new ride" that was going in next year(?) and that Tidal Wave was going to close after this season and removed in order to make room for it. When asked if it was a roller coaster or not, they went stone faced and replied that they "Weren't at liberty to say". Interpret that how you wish, but the general tone around the park was that Tidal Wave is indeed on the short list to go soon.
