  1. Just a thought - purely speculative. Last year, most of the season, they were running the ride with rows empty. I haven't seen them doing it this year. Since the ride is launched on a pretty steep incline and the LSMs ends before the top, wouldn't the additional weight cause the ride to lose a little momentum before cresting the first hill? I'm not sure that the weight of 4 people or so would cause a noticeable change or if the launch system compensates for weight to reach the desired speed...
  2. I'd assume Dollywood is thinking about it like this: is not having alcohol stopping people from coming into our park? Would having alcohol stop people from coming into our park? With attendance growing just about every year, I can't imagine they see much incentive to sell alcohol, where as they may alienate some of the ultra-conservative beer-is-satanic crowd if they did (go to the shows at Dollywood - a lot of folks fall into this category.) But here's hoping. I definitely wouldn't mind a moonshine lemonade while walking around the parks. I've often thought a Dollywood Food & Wine type event would be awesome - bring in some of the famous restaurants around the state (Hattie B's, Calhoun's, what have you) and some of the local breweries and distilleries. I feel like Festival of Nations is kind of toying with that concept by having some food from various cultures, but I remember thinking there just wasn't a huge variety there.
  3. To further confuse the situation, TT is equipped with a variable-speed lift hill. If they're only running one train, they run the lift hill hill quite a bit faster than with two trains (I've been told it's to avoid long stacking times). You're gonna get a faster max speed if they're only running one train.
  4. I have definitely seen a drop in customer service the last few years, but I think people are starting to reach a little bit. Some misinformed staff, higher frequency of rude staff, dirtier park - sure, it's not ideal, but it's not ruining the experience. I chalk it up to growing pains, but what do I know. It's still head and shoulders above Six Flags or Cedar Fair parks.
