  1. Check out these photos that Jeffrey Siebert posted on Facebook today:Looks like Rockville is getting some fresh new pavement.
  2. September 3rd is quickly approaching, and SFFT has dropped a rather unadvertised new hint. Calling the phone number in the picture below now plays a new recording that adds to the previous one about scenic views:Do your speculating now, because next week the truth shall be revealed!
  3. Last time I rode Scooby Doo at SFFT, a good number of the props weren't working. Probably good that they're getting replaced I suppose. Where did you hear this if you don't mind me asking?
  4. ^The looping music thing was mainly a joke. In all honesty, I thought his demeanor was very inappropriate, especially on a preview day when the park is trying to make a good first impression about a ride!
  5. Just got back from the gold season passholder preview today. After riding Batman the Ride a couple of times, I have to agree with the other reviews of this coaster from previous riders...it's awesome! Comfortable restraints, smooth ride, and just enough spinning. It's definitely a nice addition to the park as it offers a change of pace from the other coasters. I will say that it is a tad bit short (especially since the wait time for it was rather long today) but really the intensity of the ride makes up for the length of it. There was a small portion of the ride after the first raven drop that I felt total weightlessness, even more than I've felt on most of the coasters I've been on! The theming is amazing as well, in fact, I would argue that it is one of the best themed rides in the entire six flags chain. All in all, I had a wonderful time, and I'm definitely going to ride this again and again on future visits! That being said...I do have one small oddity to point out: one of the ride operators on BTR today had a very negative attitude about the ride. When I walked up to the station, he had a sour look on his face and wasn't polite at all (which really doesn't bother me most of the time). When I was getting strapped into my ride vehicle, the guy sitting across from me asked this ride operator which side was his favorite. The op responded by saying that he thought BTR was lame and not worth his time, and that he refuses to ride such a weak ride. Not exactly the answer you want to hear before being dispatched, but, he was being honest, and I respect him for that I suppose! I'm not really complaining, I just wanted to point this out because I found it odd. I've seen depressing ride operators in the past, but I've never seen one actually put down the ride that they're operating. In his defense, he does have to listen to the station music loop all day haha.
  6. ^It was just a video on the SFFT facebook page. No big announcement really (although that's what I was expecting too) but it's kind of a cool video, I guess. Here's a link for ya
  7. Check out this new SFFT tweet: BREAKING NEWS on May 10 @ 11am. You thought you knew everything about #BatmanTheRide ... #SFFT2015
  8. I'm going to ride B:TR during the golden season passholder preview next Saturday. After seeing these videos, I'm a bit nervous now...I can handle spinning, but damn!! I'm sure they'll get it well under control before then, though, and if they don't, well then who knows! Maybe this intense spinning could be really fun! Always stay optimistic
  9. ^Wow, now THAT is some attention to detail on Six Flags' part! Thank you for clearing that up for me. I wonder if the rest of Rockville is going to get a DC theme like this, or if only the buildings around B:TR are.
  10. ^Oh my! Well, I'm sure glad I didn't visit SFOT today then! You are absolutely right about the ride crews at Fiesta Texas. Even though the park was crowded, iRat operated like clockwork! Same thing goes for SKC. I really do appreciate the increase in quality of staffing at SFFT. Not only are the rides operated very well, but the employees are so friendly too!
  11. Hey guys! I visited SFFT today, and although there's not much change from Chad's recent report (and quite an excellent report at that, thanks Chad!), there is some stuff to take note of on Batman: The Ride. A quick side note: Today, I made a terrible mistake. I'm sure most of you on this forum are already fully aware of what I'm about to say, but for those of you who aren't (like me), this is your warning! Try not to visit a theme park at the end of a school year!! I must've counted at least 50 school buses in the parking lot. The park was very crowded, and because I had limited time today, I was only able to ride a couple of rides. That being said, I still had a very fun time and I'm really happy to see Fiesta Texas getting so much business! Anyways, back to Batman. There's only two weeks left until the Golden Season Pass preview date! Now that the track is 100% done, they've put all of their focus on the themed queue. Landscaping dirt has been put in around the unfinished queue paths, and some kind of signs have been put up throughout the queue. These signs appear to have digital-looking blueprints of the Batmobile and other bat-vehicles on them. Also, they've started working on the entrance facade for the ride. In regards to the theme, it would appear that this ride is going to have a bat-technology theme to it. Instead of focusing on crime-ridden Gotham like the rest of the Batman rides in other six flags parks, this ride is going to focus on Batman's arsenal of weapons and technology. This, of course, is just speculation. Now, enough talk! Let's get to the pictures! A beautiful day for a construction update! The site smells of fertilizer and topsoil...gross This is one of those signs I was talking about. Unfortunately, I couldn't get good pictures of the fronts of them. The entrance sign has been put in place! Also, the "buildings" around the entrance are receiving new themes as well. As you can see, the building to the right of the entrance is now themed to a...coffee shop? Maybe?? That "Big Belly Burger" sign next to the Gotham City Gift Shop is new. Now, before you go thinking SFFT has a new restaurant, this sign is for theming purposes only! The BTR gift shop takes up the space in that building.
  12. ^Yes, this is official. Take a look at this on SFFT's facebook page in reference to Batman: Click here to view the post in its entirety. They've also made opening date announcements earlier in the year, but I can't remember where exactly they are listed. In terms of confusion with Twisted Colossus, many new six flags attractions are opening in late May. For instance, Justice League: Battle for Metropolis at SFOT is also opening May 23 in conjunction with BTR and Twisted Colossus.
  13. ^I believe it will be open on May 16th for gold season pass holders, May 17th for regular season pass holders, and May 24th for the general public EDIT: May 23 for the general public, not the 24th. Sorry about that.
  14. They're getting ready to install the Soaring Eagle Zipline Got this from SFFT's twitter page
  15. As Chadster already made very clear in his excellent report and in his above statement, BTR is going to have an awesome interactive queue. But, if that's not enough to convince you, here's an excerpt of an article on the Six Flags website about it: "You’ll wander through downtown Rockville on your way to board the ride inside Wayne Enterprises. The new interactive queue line and loading area will explain the storyline for your mission. Head into the old-style movie theater where you’ll discover that Bruce Wayne is working with a secret weapons lab to avenge the loss of his parents. The lab of Lucius Fox will display the most advanced Bat-technology, including an illuminated prototype Batsuit, the world-famous Batmobile, and well-recognized Bat Signal." You can read the full article here. Now, it may not end up being Disney-level theme quality, but still, this is a big deal for a Six Flags ride, especially Fiesta Texas.
  16. ^Agreed. If Disney does as good a job as they've always done with scenery and detail, then there's no doubt that this new land will be jaw-dropping. I wasn't the biggest fan of the movie, but I can't wait to see this myself!!
  17. Batman testing is about to begin folks! The chassis for the first BTR vehicle has been placed on the transfer track and is awaiting assembly!! Photo from SFFT's Twitter page
  18. This is good news indeed. Road Runner Express is in desperate need of this! It would also be nice if they brought back the coyote animatronics (were they animatronics or just statues?) that used to be scattered about the attraction, but this is still very good to hear. Thank you for the info.
  19. Hey guys! I just got back from SFFT today and thought I would share some BTR update pics with y'all. So, as previously noted, the track circuit is complete. However, there is still a lot of work to be done! The area around the ride is just dirt right now, and the queue is in its beginning stages of construction. The ride looks beautiful though! These pictures really can't portray how big the structure is in person. Can't wait until it is done! A quick non-Batman side note: Roadrunner Express is still closed and no work seems to have been done on it. I asked one of the park employees what was going on with it, and he told me that the they "can't fix it because they need parts from the manufacturer but they went out of business." Now, he was probably talking about Arrow Dynamics, the manufacturer of Roadrunner Express which became defunct in 2002. Please don't quote what he said as fact, though, for it is just a rumor. For all I know, he could've just been making that stuff up. Anyways, enjoy the pictures! A pic of the completed track from Rockville. I like how the structure looms in the distance behind the ride entrance! Artsy lift hill pic lol The raven drop comes close to the train track! The chain lift mechanisms are on site and ready to be placed (I think that's what these are)! The chain itself is also on site, but I couldn't get a good picture of it Parts galore! This is a chassis for one of the ride's vehicles. I'm guessing it's on site so that they can begin testing soon A bit of a creepy pic...these are roller coaster test dummies in storage next to SKC. I think they're getting them prepared for Batman testing!
  20. At this rate, the track will probably be finished by next week! I can't wait to see the giant Batman logo hung on the side. It's the icing on the cake!
  21. Glad you like the pics! I'm really curious about Road Runner Express too. In fact, today I went by there again to see if anything had changed since Tuesday. As expected, nothing was different. The entrance sign was still gone, and the entrance itself was still blocked off. To be honest, I don't think they're doing any work on it right now. I haven't seen any construction or maintenance crews on the site. In fact, the ride looks abandoned. Maybe I just couldn't see it from where I was. Does anyone on here have any info about this? Any news on what work is being done on this ride?
  22. Hey guys! I visited SFFT again today, and it was SUPER crowded! Because of the crowd, I really only got to ride Superman, but I did walk around a bit and I took some Batman the Ride update photos for you guys! Look at how much progress they've made since I was there on Tuesday! This photo was taken from the SKC loading area The control booth for Batman is also getting built quickly S&S box! So many parts! ...even more parts This is the area that used to be occupied by Motorama Turnpike (right next to Poltergeist). It's been filled in with grass There's so much hype for Batman...even the trash cans are sporting the logo! The official Batman the Ride gift shop is already open!! It's called "Gotham City Gift Shop". This is where the ride will exit ...and here's a picture of the future exit for Batman the Ride! This was taken inside the new Gotham City Gift Shop
