  1. I was at Holiday World for a little while yesterday, but did not make it up to check out the spray painted line for myself. I have a few ideas of why the line might be there. I think the Rock the World concert was in that area, so the spray paint could be left over from that. Also, I think they were planning to move the children's bumper boats next to Hyena Falls. They had a contest to rename the bumper boats when they took them out of the Christmas section. The winning name was Water Bumpalos. They were supposed to reopen in 2015 as part of Splashin Safari, but they either changed their minds or postponed the project. There was a map on their website for a short time that showed the bumper boats next to Hyena Falls. It was the map that showed the new entrance to Splashin Safari in Thanksgiving at the old Pilgrim's Plunge/Giraffica location. The map showed the pool being filled in, but the station building was still there. I would love for a new ride to go in there, but judging from that map it looks like that building might eventually be to used for more changing rooms and lockers for Splashin Safari. I don't know if the changes that were on that map were just delayed or if they were canceled. I guess we will find out eventually. I can't wait to see the things they have planned for the future. I go to Holiday World at least once a week and I am always looking around to try to get ideas of they might be planning.
  2. I used to like the Zipper until I got older. I get way too claustrophobic on the ride now. They always have a Zipper at the local fairs and carnivals around here, but I haven't ridden one for close to 10 years. I grew up hearing stories that a girl died at the local fair from falling out of the Zipper. I always assumed it was just an urban legend until recently when I found a few articles about the accident. It happened in 1976. The door lock was apparently worn and bent and the door came open during the ride and she fell out. One article says the girl fell 60 feet and the other one says she fell 25 feet. There was another girl riding in the same compartment and she was able to hold on to the door and survived. Here are two of the articles if anyone is interested. http://local.evpl.org/views/viewimage.asp?ID=690033 http://local.evpl.org/views/viewimage.asp?ID=690032
  3. I seem to recall reading that there was a three year Thanksgiving celebration plan starting with Mayflower. The Mayflower was the first year, Thunderbird was second year. Is there still a third part of the plan for next year or have their plans been changed or possibly delayed? Since next year is Holiday World's 70th year I feel like they probably have something planned, just nothing "gigantic". Thunderbird was huge so I don't expect anything that big so soon, but I can't help looking forward to and being curious about the things they have planned for the future.
  4. Thanks! I was just about to make a post asking about the crowd today and then I saw your post. I am getting ready to head to Holiday World in a few minutes and was wondering how busy it is.
  5. I have been reading here for a while but this is my first post. I cannot wait to find out what Holiday World is building! I will be at Holiday World today for the announcement!!! I should totally be asleep right now but I am too excited. I have been wondering, is it a coincidence that this countdown is ending with the announcement on the 67th day and Holiday World is also 67 years old? Their 68th birthday will be on August 3rd. I believe that Holiday World has made a few of their biggest announcements on their birthday in past years. I wonder if anything is planned for their 68th birthday which is 10 days after the countdown ends? I have no idea. I just keep thinking this announcement is going to tie in with Holiday World's birthday somehow.
