  1. Going to be visiting SFOG this weekend for the first time. Any good areas that has nice hotels that is no more than 30-45 min from the park. I like to go further out because rooms are usually cheaper.

Like others have said, the hotels right along the park are decent and not that expensive, but if they are sold out or if you want to save more money I would suggest staying west of the park along I-20. Keep in mind, SFOG is literally 10 minutes from downtown so anything to the east is close to the city. The area immediately east of the park is VERY ghetto and I would not suggest staying anywhere east of the park. I had to stop for gas once off the exit just east of the park and I had a group of unfortunate looking people eyeing me and as soon as the cop that was present left, one came over and asked me if I was looking for sex or drugs. So unless you need a sketchy prostitute or drugs, I would avoid staying in that general area.

    lol thanks for the advice!

  2. Sorry guys, haven't been on in a while and I don't know if this has been talked about yet, but I know we had discussed it briefly a while back, but when it comes to Holiday World marketing very heavily in our area, they are going all the way now it seems. Now they have corporate sponsorships with local St Louis companies.

The apocalypse is here. Imos has defected.

I'm headed there this weekend! 1st time visiting Holiday World!

Rush Street Flyer opened yesterday under it's new name and theme : Gravitor.

Apparently La Ronde did a lot of work on the ride and got a lot of new mechanical parts. It's the beginning of a second life for this "Falling Star" ride.

I went on it today. It looks pretty boring when you look at it, but it's actually a fun ride. I think La Ronde's customers will be glad that the park got it. The park was lacking family rides.

Thanks for sharing! Looks very nice there!!!

  4. Man, it's going to be weird not seeing the bumper cars there any more. My son and I love those bumper cars. But if SFOG is promising something big, I hope they deliver on it and give us something nice. This has been a recurring thing with Six Flags lately. SFSL, SFOT and SFOG have all removed their bumper cars. What's Six Flags got against bumper cars??

SFSTL took our bumper cars away for a Boomerang

  5. Just got back from my first visit to Six Flags St. Louis and I have to say I really enjoyed it! It probably helped that park was completely dead. The water park had some pretty good rides, and even though they do not have a huge steel coaster the wooden coasters make up for it. The coaster lineup was very solid, my favorites being American Thunder, which was so amazing front seat, I loved it. I also loved The Boss, I know this ride has a bad rep but there was something about that overall out of control feeling was just fantastic. The Screaming Eagle was great as well, you can't beat a classic. Overall a wonderful day at Six Flags St. Louis hope to be back soon!

Glad you had a great visit!!

  6. To add to my above post, my personal philosophy on traveling to parks or traveling in general is that if our destination is within 12 hours or so, we're good to drive. Any further than that and we hop a flight.

If I can spend 12 hours in a dirty cramped Ford Taurus while wearing a bullet proof vest strapped around my torso and a heavy belt strapped very tightly around my waist, to the point where my holster is digging into my side, a 12 hour drive in gym shorts with my lovely wife by my side is a pleasure. I guess it's all what you're used to. Three hours on the other hand is nothing.

and... To add to the economy car argument, when we don't take our Crosstrek, we take my STI, which is on 18" wheels, summer track tires, and 'track tuned suspension.' Not to mention the drone from the aftermarket exhaust and constant on and off spooling of the turbo and factory bypass valve noises. Basically the STI is a poor man's race car, being an economy car set up for the track. It's definitely not as pleasurable as the Crosstrek or the Fit, and it certainly makes something in comparison to a 1995 Honda Accord seem luxurious. Grow some back bone, guys.

    Wait until you have kids!

  7. Why are the TVs off in the Justice League queue this year? They greatly help make the line seem shorter.

They were on last week except for the one in the first queue room (it's not really needed since it will loop a minimum of two times in the second room). Maintenance might have forgotten to enable them in the morning as the are separate from Cyborg's audio and movement and the main screens and audio in the loading area.

They were also off on Saturday.

See this is the stuff Disney and Paramount/Cedar Fair get right. I don't mean to draw the comparison, but I do.

It's the little stuff that adds up. I would love to see the park sounds turned back on in the Batman queue.

  8. Park is promoting a new option for dining on the weekend. They are offering an All you can eat buffet on Sat and Sun for lunch and dinner. Dining passes are accepted. Saturday is hamburgers and hot dogs. Sunday is chicken fingers and hot dogs.

This is probably an attempt to lower the wait times for food.

That's not a bad idea honestly! Good for them to coming up with the best solution available.
