  1. They were on last week except for the one in the first queue room (it's not really needed since it will loop a minimum of two times in the second room). Maintenance might have forgotten to enable them in the morning as the are separate from Cyborg's audio and movement and the main screens and audio in the loading area.
  2. Its not being marketed as a new coaster. Its being marketed as a virtual reality experience on Ninja and as a modern twist to an old ride.
  3. That aint a bad idea at all! The only issue I see with this is another ride would add another obstacle on the island to try and get around with a crane to work on Freeze or Thunder River's pumps.
  4. Justice League update: Justice League reopened Saturday. The ride experience is the same but the car movements felt more aggressive actually causing me to slide around a bit. Most people I have talked to think the ride is more aggressive than it was, others disagreed. The ride ran Saturday and Sunday with significantly less downtime than before. Oceanering and Sally are still on site working on the teething issues of the new system. There have been less reports of scenes not working and guest seem in general very thrilled with the ride were as before the upgrades people's reaction was less enthusiastic. Be sure to ride it and post your thoughts.
  5. The park is making a nice slow recovery from the bankruptcy and is not quite ready to be the park everyone wants it to be. There are still things to be fixed and painted, upgrades to be made to prepare for future growth. I predict "it" will be built in either 2020, 2021, or 2022 to coincide with the park's 50th anniversary. We can endlessly speculate or wait and see....... or we can do both and have a lot more fun.
  6. Depends, what are you looking for in a park? I can tell you yes and someone else can tell you no, but it ultimately comes down to personal taste. I've heard people that normally vist parks like Six Flags Great America say that they like SFSTL mostly because they consider it smaller and more charming. Others prefer Six Flags Great America's larger selection of rides.
  7. I've said it before and I will say it again. Parks outside of the St. Louis area have no effect on SFSTL's attendence. Now if I were to open a park 10mins. down the road it would be a different story. There is no invasion into the STL market. Now if a company came and opened a park near the STL area then yes, that would indeed be a threat to SFSTL's attendence. I always value your opinions and agree a lot with what you say on here, and Im not trying to argue with you, but they absolutely do. They didnt used to maybe 10 years ago, but they definitely do now, trust me tey do, surveyys dont lie. Not to mention the amount of people who from this area now are not onlu going to HW, but getting season passes there. Now this next part is my opinion, but I truly believe you can see this yourself when walking around the park.... take a look at the type of clientele that walks around SFSTL, its getting trashier and rougher looking all the time, and thats because people that have more money to spend are going elsewhere. Look at the STL region. It seems to be getting worse every year. In a regional park the actions and attitudes of clientele refelect back upon the region the park serves.
  8. Can you give us an estimate on when it will reopen? Unfortunately I can not. If I find out more information I will be sure to pass it along.
  9. Quick updates from today. JLBFM will be down a bit longer than originally planned as the manufacturer is working through bugs in the system. No official date has been set. If I remember correctly someone mentioned how Fireball need baskets like Freeze has. Well your prayer has been answered, baskets are now located across from each row. Drinks must still be placed in the holder at the exit. Also I rode Fireball for the first time. Must say that I love the hangtime. Thats really the only thing that stood out on the ride. Rode Boss in the last row of yellow train and experienced something that I thought the ride had forgotten years ago how to do. Trimming in C-block. I'm not talking a light dragging of the brakes as the train first enters like it normally does (if it trims at all). I'm talking a hard trim (it was more like the trimming experienced on Ninja than typical Boss). Yellow was screaming through the first half of the ride (especially considering how chilly it was today) it was running so fast the the bunny hop after the double down that normally is just kind of there or give a little airtime was giving a little ejector. Purple was running slower and only needed a light trim (not bad considering its the slowest train out of the three). By far the best ride I have ever gotten out of Boss. Modification are underway at Ninja to prepare for VR. The dock has been extended to create a place to hold the VR cabinet and modifications are being down to the queue.
  10. I've said it before and I will say it again. Parks outside of the St. Louis area have no effect on SFSTL's attendence. 11. Knowing how to run the ride > knowing where the light switch is for ceiling fans. They will figure it out before the insane heat arrives. At least the queue isn't enclosed so at least you can get a natural breeze Freeze has never liked doing short shots. They are certainly interesting to ride though.
  12. I don't know. I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't. The hope is that the update will significantly reduce ride downtime. If downtime now means less downtime later I would say its well worth it.
  13. Software upgrade, hardware upgrade, or both? Based on what I've heard the drive system on the RVs (the system that controls all of the RV's movement including tilt and spin) are being replaced. This may require changes to the software.
  14. Why sell it? Now if they ever want to expand they will have to rebuy land. Short term gain, long term loss. There will be no rebuying that land. It is being used for a housing development. Why keep land that isnt being used or will not likely be used when you can sell it for cash for other projects. The park is not going to be in any danger of running out of land anytime soon they still have plenty left over.
  15. You must also factor in that Toy Story cars only spin, they can not tilt, roll, and change pitch to react to things happening on a screen. Toy Story more closely resembles the dark ride built at Knotts then it does Justice League since Justice League has the ability to not only spin but tilt and roll as well.
  16. ^^ I work as a maintenance mechanic, we have a machine enginered and built by a third party (which you seem to think makes it better by default). That piece of equipment took roughly 2 years to get dialed in (the machine runs more hours per year than a coaster does). 2 years of adjustment and trail and error to a machine that the manufacturer had built several of before. So answer me this. If it took 2 years to adjust a machine (that runs more hours per year than a coaster) engineered and built by a third party, is it really unacceptable for a roller coaster that just received a modification to the drive system and a new control system to take 3 years to dail in? No
  17. Last time I checked Universal and Disney darkrides have blasters for gaming or ride vehicles similar to Justice League, not both.
  18. The lift system is a prototype system. Name one other Boomerang in the world that uses electric motors for the lift instead of hydraulic. I'll wait. You'll be waiting a long time. I really and truly don't care what kind of lift system it has. Is it fun? Nope? Off to American Eagle. It doesnt matter if you care or not, the basis of your argument is that Boomerang is just like every other Boomerang and can not be compared to JLBFM. In order to make a good solid argument for said point one must have basic technical knowledge of the ride system of SFSTL Boomerang and a regular Boomerang. Thats a long road trip to avoid Boomerang. Lol

  20. Its a prototype. Reliability issues are common with prototypes. (Thats why they are protptypes to prevent issues from occuring on future generations). Its running a lot better than it did last year. Apparently you have forgotten about the first two seasons of Boomerang. First season, had lots of downtime. Second season, still had lots of downtime but less than first season. Third season, ran fairly reliably with only a few minor issues. Beginning of fourth season, off to its best start of a season so far. It takes time to chase the majority of the Gremlins out of a system.
  21. I just got that too, and had to roll my eyes. Sheesh. How would you describe Fireball to a person that hasnt seen a ride like it before at a park or a carnival? You would describe it as a coaster loop, not a whole coaster only the loop. I see no issue here, they could be calling a looping coaster and running around saying come ride our tenth coaster like the other parks did last year, but their not. I just thought it was funny that a number of people were pleasantly surprised that SFSTL did not market Fireball as another coaster, but then this. I have never seen a Larson loop referred to a as a coaster loop anywhere else. I have not been to the park yet this year, but from the photos that have been posted it looks great up on the hillside. I am sure my kids and I will enjoy it. I like going upside down. Unfortunately it suddenly IS being advertised as a coaster... Commercials, promos, and in news articles.... I thought our PR and promos department was better than this, but that's my dumb fault for thinking that.... Leave it to SFSTL PR to do a dumb gimmicky promo..... Come on SFTSL PR, quit blowing smoke up people's butts, you ain't fooloin' anyone! I've only found one article that calls Fireball a roller coaster. (Its been copied and pasted on to have a dozen news sites but its the same article) Other articles (such at the St. Louis Post Dispatch) call it a thrill ride. The adds I've heard call it "The Ultimate Coaster Loop". Recent Facebook posts and Tweets for the park still dont call it a roller coaster. If this was to be coaster #10 they would be posting things such as #tencoasters and #mocoastercapital.

  23. Yes Is it any smoother than last year? That was discussed a couple pages back
