I am taking my first trip the Carowinds on July 11th. What is the best food in the park? I am hearing the BBQ is good.

That is good news. Maybe they can get it up and running by the weekend or at least by July 4th.

I agree with you 100% I think we are on the same page here. Most people have no idea what it has taken to bring this ride back. Some pics of the folks hard at work on what they are doing to it on social media would be awesome. "Here we are installing state of the art magnetic brakes on T3. Be ready to ride soon!" It would keep things in a positive light, build some hype, cut out the wild speculation and keep them from having to constantly answer "when is T3 going to be open." I absolutely believe it is something minor. Most people just don't get that with something as complex as a roller coaster that something minor can take a bit of time to make right. Then you have the folks on that other thread on that other forum making it out to be that the park doesn't have the money to open the ride...people always assume the worst.

All I am saying is that people assume the worst. If there is a simple explanation that could be given and spun in a positive manner it would go over better than the repeated "coming soon". If it is something truly bad and difficult to solve, I completely understand their silence. I am not saying they are wrong in their handling of the situation, just that depending on the nature of the problem it may or may not be more beneficial to them to be more transparent. Being that we do not know what the issue is, we can not say for sure. People will speculate all kinds of crazy scenarios (I'm sure you have heard some of the wild stories about the original KI Bat) that are far worse than "we decided to make the ride better/safer and it is taking a little longer than we initially planned." Truthfully, its neither our's nor the GP's business what is going on with the ride but people appreciate being kept in the loop, especially if they have bought tickets/season passes with the expectation of riding T3. I'm just looking for a way to turn a negative into a potential positive for them and this is all pure speculation anyway. Maybe its far worse. Maybe there were originally two new trains and one flew off the track and exploded in a ball of flame as it crashed into the old Batman show theater... or maybe they just decided to upgrade the braking system.

I have. I see tons of people asking when the ride will be open. I am just suggesting a well worded truthful explanation might calm the GP down and make them appreciate why it is taking some extra time. It also may be something completely different and would not warrant any further information. We do not know at this point and may never.

It would not be a negative if messaged properly. "In addition to upgrading the train(s) and electrical system we have also decided to upgrade T3's braking system to get it up to modern standards. The safety of riders is our primary concern. Sorry for the delay and thanks for your understanding."

The brake system explanation makes sense as there were maintenance folks working in the station over the weekend. I do wish the park would just say publicly that is what they are doing if that is the case. I think the GP would understand and appreciate they are upgrading an essential safety system after testing deemed it needed to be done.

Either way you did not miss much on that one...Grizzly is not bad but Rebel Yell is the best woodie at KD in my opinion.

Great report. I see you wisely skipped Hurler...I rode it one time for the credit...I wish I could have got both sides of Rebel Yell but they were only operating one the day I was at KD. I agree completely with your thoughts on Shockwave. I felt tons of nostalgia waiting in line and beat up after getting off.

I agree, This forum is the only place where you can have a balanced discussion about Kentucky Kingdom. Other dark places does nothing but make False Claims to attempt to damage KK PR. I wouldn't say all claims made there are false, but several folks are willing to jump to conclusions pretty quick and take shots at the park over pretty much anything. Its a very informative thread but some post are pretty laughable and predictable...The current discussion over how there is no way the park could have got any good press unless it was some how paid advertisement is a prime example...

Agreed. The world needs more of those! I had a really good trip today. There was a pretty good crowd there especially in the water park. I'm probably going back next weekend because my daughter was sick and could not make the trip today. Maybe T3 will be up and running...and the red paint looks a lot better in person.

If you are looking for somewhere outside of Holiday World to eat in the area, Venture north about 30 minutes to Jasper and go to Schnitzelbank. They have some great German food.

haha...yeah you have to read more than one forum on KK to get any sense of balance please share your thoughts on LR. I love it. I will be there Sunday for the first time this season.

I am excited for the new trains. That may or may not change after riding it, but as long as it keeps the GP happy and coming through the gates I am all for it.

I'm sure their safety procedures are methodical for a reason given past managements less than stellar safety record...

Has anyone got video of T3 testing? I really want to see it in action I was hoping to stop in KK after Holiwood Nights on Sunday but circumstances have forced me to hold off my KK visit until next Sunday. oh well...One more week to get the bugs out.
