  1. Actually, it does. Robb owns this website, and therefore gives him the right to do as he pleases with it. There is no "Internet Rule Book" saying that he can't. I suppose you're right. There is no Internet Rule Book, and there's no "etiquette police" to make sure everyone is playing nice. But shouldn't everybody treat others with respect? Why should he get a pass on being a decent human being? I don't care if you're Michael Jordan, the President of the US, or Robb Alvey, everyone should treat everyone else with respect. That's all I'm saying. No "status", especially being an administrator of an internet forum, makes it okay to act with such arrogance. Anyone *can* act like a child, but nobody *should*.
  2. If you read his post again, then you can see that it's more towards the way people are talking to each other on the internet, rather than the videos. I personally love TPR videos, and will continue to do so. Thank you. As you'll see in the very beginning of my post, I quite like that there is screaming and yelling in the POVs. That's not at all what my post was about. I understand that this is Robb's website. I respect all the time and effort he puts into this site and his videos, and as I said, I love his videos and will continue to watch them. But the fact that Robb pays for and runs this website does not automatically grant him (or others) the right to act as immaturely as he (and others) did. The fact that he pays the bills around here doesn't excuse him from the simple rules of decency and etiquette. I think my post was clear enough. If you could not be bothered to read my entire post, please refrain from calling it "nonsense".
  3. Long time lurker, saw this on Twitter and thought I'd finally register to share my thoughts. Let me be clear. I don't at all have a problem with people on a roller coaster screaming, having fun, or otherwise enjoying the ride. And since I like to view POVs as a representation of riding the ride, I don't mind screaming and yelling in the videos either. I enjoy most of Robb's POVs. I am less likely to enjoy the video, however, if there is lots of commentary during the video. When I say commentary, I'm referring to explanation of elements ("Now we're going through a cobra roll!") or generally talking about the ride ("And at the bottom of this hill we'll be going 93 mph!"). I don't like hearing someone ramble on about the ride while I'm actually riding it, so therefore I don't like it in the videos either. If I'm not mistaken, it was this commentary that douggw and Vikings22 were referring to in their respective posts as opposed to general screaming, yelling, and enjoyment. My opinion, however, is irrelevant. They are, as you said, your videos and I will continue to watch them as they are usually of high quality. I don't usually have a problem with your POVs at all. I do, however, have a problem with the way you go about expressing your feedback to the criticism you got. I don't see where Vikings22 was at all being "abrasive", as you said. Could you point out where, exactly, Vikings22 stepped out of line? He raised valid points. In fact, the only place where I see abrasiveness is when phrases like "Jesus effing Christ!" and sign-offs like "Robb "Please don't ever tell me what I should be saying." Alvey". You seem to have plenty of advice to offer Vikings about responding with maturity to things people post, but you responded quite childishly yourself. I don't see anything in Vikings22's posts that warranted the full-page, defensive, and obnoxious replies that you provided. It seems the phrase "most people" outraged you, and I'm not entirely sure why. It's just as easy to politely explain that "most people" don't share the same opinion as Vikings as it is to write a passionate, defensive monologue explaining why Vikings is supposedly acting like a child. Additionally, the fact that this website is less "harsh" than 4chan or YouTube is irrelevant. Everyone knows that those forums are the lowest of the low when it comes to internet communities -- being more respectful than them isn't exactly a point of pride. This post is not directed solely at Robb, either, but at the community in general. Seeing name-calling like "douchebag" and schoolyard insults like "Perhaps Mommy should have taken them off the teat before their 5th birthday?" really makes me nauseous. You people ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Forums are a place for people to respectfully voice their opinions and engage in discussions with others that share their interests. The responses to Vikings22 and douggw are anything but respectful, and were completely unwarranted. I'll step off my soapbox now.
