  1. Technically I am not an employee for the month of December until the first week of January, but I also have *almost* zero knowledge of company-wide expenditures. That would be very interesting though.
  2. Six Flags did as well. For tickets and for THE FLASH PASS. Since it has been introduced at Six Flags, everyone I've talked to (being dozens of people) understood it and actually liked it. It encouraged a lot of people to visit during the week when possible. However, with Six Flags parks, it is only online. With saying that USH is the "first major park in North America" to go this route, I could see it as semi-fair if Universal uses the same pricing strategy at the gate, which I believe they probably will. And as other people have explained, it's just like buying tickets to sporting events and hotels. I'm glad to see USH take this route, as it will hopefully decrease a bit of the craziness coming up with the opening of Potter.
  3. Hmm, the video was largely done by the same people who did the video for Universal, so I wonder if it was just due to difficulties that day. However, Oceaneering has been working at the park this off season to make fixes and improvements.
  4. ^ To be fair to Holiday World, even years where it seems like "smaller investments" happen, the overall investment really isn't that small. For 2011, while they did add Safari Sam's Splashland and the new kiddie ride, they also added new restrooms, changing rooms, more lockers, significantly improved large sections of the parking lot, and built a huge indoor dining area for Plymouth Rock Cafe. While I agree with the overall "spend less some years to save up for big rides other years" point you're making, Holiday World seems to always invest pretty heavily in infrastructure & things for Guest comfort. That's one of the things that keeps them on their A-game.
  5. ^ I think the word fanboy is more associated with someone who becomes so fixated on something that their bias can change their perception of things to always come out with their obsession being the most amazing thing ever. As you may be able to tell by my name "HWFan", I used to be a huge fanboy. I'm still a huge fan, but I'm not quite as obsessed/fixated on it. Here's a story that actually happened: It was my first week working at a theme park. I see the director of operations walking up with the park president (I was already friends with the park president, so I at least knew one of them). The director of ops says, "ohhh, so this is the guy who wants to work at Holiday World, eh?" Later, we were able to laugh about it. Anywayyyyyy, I was thinking about HW's expansion. With the Christmas, Halloween, and Fourth of July areas having little expansion, I wonder if HW would ever have them expand into each other. If Fourth of July had a new area built as part of the park's expansion plans (this would be a long way away of oh course), then Christmas and/or Halloween could move in. You could even keep some or all of the rides there and just retheme them. I think it could be a really fantastic option for their future. They could use that design firm (can't remember the name) to handle all of the cosmetic changes. Thoughts?
  6. ^well duh. They're called magic carpets, so they're powered by magic. Chance's are called falling stars, so they're mainly powered by gravity. But I guess you could say the Chance falling stars are "out of this world."
  7. Doubtful since nearby Kentucky Kingdom is doing the same thing. Wouldn't KK's RMC actually make HW more likely to do a "Mexican Medusa-esque inversion drop?" I honestly can't even speculate on what will happen, but if HW opens with something that can compete with KK's RMC, it could lead more people to keep going to HW rather than KK. Plus, with KK's semi-lackluster announcement (at least when you look at it in terms of teaser campaigns that make you want to pull your hair out *cough*Holiday World*cough*) and then put HW's announcement after the new year, HW's announcement will be fresher in people's minds than KK's.
  8. Well, a lot of enthusiasts said that they messed up Voyage with the MCBR this year (an opinion that I, as well as a lot of enthusiasts, don’t share. Coasters are all subjective. But yes, it is quite fun to hate on Six Flags parks “lol” because Six Flags parks are run by humans who can make mistakes & HW is run by supercomputers who are incapable of making any mistake. Noooo!! Please no!!! While I don't think a Larson Loop would be the best option, the newer, taller models have been getting fantastic reviews from Guests at the Six Flags parks where they are installed...even better than a lot of major coasters. As I have learned (after some unfair speculation from myself), most of us have absolutely no idea what kind of contracts or purchases/refunds were made with the Gravity Group. Even after the Timberliner testing was ended, I believe TGG still donated a thing or two to the Holiwood Nights charity auction. We don’t know what did or did not happen. Even the PTC comparison seems a bit unfair, but that’s just my opinion. I actually have a test dummy femur displayed in my house, signed by some of HW’s staff, including Paula and some of the coaster cats. It’s definitely a great conversation piece.
  9. Well, I guess it's been 14 days, so here are my Rush Street Flyer pics: Ending part two. Ending part two. Ending part two. Ending part two. Ending part two. Ending part two. Ending part two. Ending part two. Ending part two. There were a couple entrance decks on the side of the path that look like they are being saved for Fireball. Flashback: Do you remember this picture? No? Well here it is again. It's the exit of RSF that is being saved. Ending part one. Former ride location part two. Former RSF location part one. Trucks, trailers, ride parts. Trailers and more ride parts. This is where you would sit, but that'd be silly because highway safety codes would not & should not allow you to sit there while the truck is on the highway.
  10. Sorry, friend! I checked the calendar (as I didn't even remember how long it had been), and I will be posting the pictures of the ride loaded up and the empty ride pad this coming Tuesday, December 15th. Now just a disclaimer, the pictures are not amazing. We didn't get too close to the trailers at all, but I would be surprised if the ride wasn't already sitting somewhere at LaRonde. When you visit the park for the first time next year, I'd love to see some pictures of it in its new location posted here. I also was wondering something that you may be able to answer for me: Gravitor was the name originally announced for a very vaguely described ride in the original announcement video before RSF was edited into an updated video, keeping the Gravitor name and using the slogan "mass transit with a twist". While I figured the name was just kept because the video already used it and the logo had been designed, do you think there could have been a language barrier (I have absolutely no clue how many visitors to LaRonde speak English or French) that would make the name Gravitor work better than Rush Street Flyer? I actually hired some professional writers from HBO to help plan some of the drama & intrigue. But in all seriousness, this thread does seem to be very active with all kinds of new information/discussion. I love it. How did you know?....Well, I guess now that the cat's out of the bag, I can say that Six Flags will be getting "Gay Pride: The Ride". (I can't think of a funny way to finish that joke, but there ya go.)
  11. Hello. This is an automatic response by the GO BIG GO SIX FLAGS Euphemism Bot. This automated post has been generated because you have probably used a word that is not preferred by GO BIG GO SIX FLAGS. Instead of saying "garbage dump...", try using "rustic woodland setting". Thank you for your time & consideration, and don't forget to GO BIG GO SIX FLAGS. (Note: As this post was generated by a bot, any replied will not be answered. Thank you.)
  12. After not checking for a couple of days, I was like, "what? What does that have to do with anything?" And then I realized my bad joke from the other day. Goooood times. Also, there is a really good interview with Dave Roemer that Sally Corp shared on their Twitter feed. You can check it out here. Finally, I missed when they posted this somehow back on November 24th, but here's a picture of RSF mid-demolition:
  13. It's all good now. He told me what I needed to hear, so I'm back. I really hope you all remember me. I went on a posting strike a long, long, time ago, due to another user's antics. Well, I'm back. I hope some of my old forum friends like prozach are still with us. It's been so long that I can't even remember what Six Flags decided to open for 2016, but I hope you all enjoyed it. HarleyGuy, did you go to the media day? I remember way back in 2015 when you did some great coverage for the JLBM media day. Good times.
  14. EDIT: One final thing, now that you guys are talking about and S&S, I have the song "Head over Feet" by Alanis Morissette stuck in my head, "You already won me over in spite of me, so don't be alarmed if I fall head over feet."
  15. ^When you became all happy and excited in the last couple days, this thread wa starting to look like the Holiday World one. While I may be "HWFan", I like the edginess of ours. But from here on out, I'm going on a posting strike until you reveal your identity to me. If I go back in January, I'm going to be paranoid now that you say I know you pretty well. Although an intervention might work. We already staged a successful one for cyborg after he became a bit of a slob. Now that he's cleaned up, I think I even saw him get a welcome matt. But anyway, for now, peace homies.
  16. Hmmm, maybe, depends on what you want to know... remember, a lot of things get put on the back burner or are trade secrets so that others never pick up on an idea. Plus, if they talked about it, you'll have a ton of people getting negative like "I can't believe they did that. I hate this park. I hate Missouri. I hate this planet. I hate everything that isn't exactly what I want it to be. Also, if anyone has an idea of who parkjunkie is, I will pay $10 for each clue or $50 for his identity. Dead or aliv...wait, scratch that part. Off topic, but I would highly suggest Klonopin over Xanax. It's a lot smoother and longer lasting. It's my doctor's answer to prescribing me twice the amount of stimulants than the FDA approves (I take ten different medications, which is 24 pills). I like the controlled substances because I get to feel like a badass...but anyway... I don't. I like to watch them suffer. It's a nice power trip for me.
  17. ^I don't know what you do and do not know. Not even sure what department you work in or who you are (although you have probably seen me a few times this off season at least. I'm sad about Dave leaving for many reasons, but one of them is that he is my primary source of information. And depending what you know, I was really sad about something that fell through in the past year, but the good news is that when things fall through, they are replaced by other (sometimes better) plans. It all evens out in the end. I have a love/hate relationship with the fact that I'm not anonymous on here. However, I won't be launching any teaser campaigns or hints. One night Dave, Elizabeth Gotway, and I stood in the shadows of the palace garden watching 'Final Freakout' and talking. While Dave definitely puts all of his trust in me, I don't think Elizabeth (PR Manager) was very comfortable with it. In her words, "If this leaks online, I'll know exactly who to go to." (Btw, anyone familiar with the school house rock song that goes, "3,6,9. 12,15,18. 21,24,27. 30!" Anyway, in terms of my hints and style, all the credit goes to Holiday World's Paula Werne (RavenMaven). I've known her since I was 11 years old when I sent an email that ended up becoming a Holiblog post. She's an amazing friend of mine, and she has taught me a lot and helped me mature in the industry. I'll have to text her your post about my hints. She'll get a "kick" out of it. Lastly, to be fair, you only asked me if I had heard anything about a huge list of things, but you never asked what I had heard...not that I would've told you anyway.
  18. I highly suggest sprinkling some salt on those words. It makes them much tastier. I think my problem is that when I hint at things, it's either too obvious or too sneaky and is never caught. I will say this, you guys haven't examined those screenshots (from the government website on pg. 672) closely enough. This has been the case in the past as well, just like the property out front... things fall through a lot. It was guaranteed to happen years ago on numerous occasions, but as you can see nothing as of yet, so I'll believe it when I see ground breaking. I don't know much about what happened in the past, but the area on that frontage road was never actually going to sell. Whether it was a real estate agent or the park talking to potential buyers, they were ethical about it. If you find some fantastic property to buy but are then told "oh, by the way, you will need to hire a full time security guard for your parking lot or it will be full of people trying to park for free," you wouldn't want it anymore.
  19. Only thing I agree with in your post. Let´s be honest... the only thing SFSTL has on WoF is the TPR thread. Okay, so "let's be honest." I think it's important that people remember how subjective parks are, just like bands or artists. While there are obviously some times where you can more definitively say which of two parks is better, most of the time, you can't. There are people who prefer Six Flags over Disney/Universal, even with their $200million rides. It all has to do with what people are looking for. I've never been to World's of Fun, but it seems like a really nice park that I can hopefully visit next summer (especially because I get in free anyway). However, if we're supposed to take you seriously, then that means you must prefer a fairly small, Eli Bridge Ferris Wheel to Colossus (the tallest ferris wheel in a theme park in the US that originally came from the world's fair in Louisiana). Or that you would prefer no dark ride at all (I couldn't find one listed online at least) over JLBM? Both parks have their strengths.
  20. I highly suggest sprinkling some salt on those words. It makes them much tastier. I think my problem is that when I hint at things, it's either too obvious or too sneaky and is never caught. 21. No need for new Millennium Flyers. We already have two extra trains (from Roar at SFDK) sitting underneath Batman. I actually suggested to Dave and mentioned a few weeks ago on here that they should replace Ninja with a Eurofighter-type coaster (maybe an S&S El Loco), theme it to something along the lines of "The Jokers Circus" and put Fireball at the bottom of the first drop with the coaster actually going through the "ring of fire". With the 70ft version of the superloop, I would think there'd be enough clearance. Besides, it'd be one of the coolest looking ride combos out there. Something that they could put in commercials and people would be like "Whoa".
  22. TNT, thank you for your answer. So if I am understanding this correctly when you say "the entire structure would need to be redesigned" you are talking about much more than just the track (meaning every bit of the structure)? This would mean that if a topper track would still require using the Gerstlauer trains? So, this means that when HW switched from Gerstlauers to PTCs they had to redo more than just the track? Is this one of those the cost of doing this would be almost the price of a new coaster? This is a bit confusing to me. I believe HW spent $3 million on Legend. Then, they got rid of the single G-train and replaced it, along with adding a transfer track and lengthening the station. All of the modification, including two new PTC trains, cost them around $250,000 from what I heard. Now, I do know that the Legend has received a good amount of extra bracing and new bracing over the years. With the Boss, it could also be different due to how high the turns and certain elements are compared to the Legend. I wonder if when RMC came out to do some structural work on the Boss a few years back, this could have been something they were looking into with that. However, that's just pure speculation.
