  1. I got to ride Star Tours twice today at Disneyland and I truly have to say that it was money well spent. Substantial story improvements, great visuals, and amazing simulators. These things move like I never thought a simulator could. It's one of my new favorite rides at Disneyland or Hollwood Studios. With 54 different ride combos, it won't get old soon!

The queue hasn't seen the changes that the ride istelf has. It still a fun and intereting line to stand in, but it seems like they could have changed it more, overall great though.

I can't wait to ride it again!!!

^I rode Star Tours today and I agree with everything you said. I just wanted add that the ride is very short though! about 3 minutes compared to the originals 4 minutes. It seems extremely rushed, But overall B+

  2. ADMIN EDIT!!! B.S. REMOVED!

Did you not see Elissa's post? Here, I'll quote it for you again...

Let's not turn this into some crazy animal rights topic...it's all about Erik and Smisty's Oddventures which I love!

Seriously, no one really gives a f**k about the size of the tank. Now shut it with the annoying animal rights garbage and get back to discussing the awesome report.

--Robb "There was a SEA LION SEX SHOW!!! Why do you care about the size of the whale tank when there was a SEA LION SEX SHOW?!?!" Alvey

  3. I like how DLR is small. Disney World (which I think Everyone should Experience) Is like a City its huge you never have to leave. Disneyland I love how everything is walking distance. 3 hotels, Downtown Disney, 2 themeparks all within like a 1/3 mile walk. Disneyland is better then Magic Kingdom and the parks them self are up kept much better at Disneyland...

but in the end Disney World is a world and there is more to do, and it gives you the TRUE Disney magic as your transported to a strictly Disney "World".

  4. I Think the amount of people and and revenue lost in those 6 months if they were closed would be FAR greater then now. Thats like 3 million people not attending the park. Not staying a extra day to eat and shop.

Im sure Disney Laid out all the options and decided they would gain the most from this. So far it is work Attendance will be at 7m or so up form the 6m last year. DCA and the resort in general had a great year!

You mean Disney would have laid out and planned all the options and picked the one that would provide them with the least amount of lost revenue? No way! Either way, I'm sure the suggestions being brought up on here about the park are MUCH better options!

    /sarcasm

Im not saying its the right thing to do... I just think they would lose wayyy more money. Imagine coming on vacation and seeing a themepark closed Disney no less. Plus its not like in 6 months they could Finnish building all the new rides just the entrance.

  6. I feel the banking is what is adding to this downgrade of reliability. The turn just before the Mid course brake is a good example. The coaster has to be going at least 40 miles into that turn and I'm sure the wear is showing a lot there. (that is the only area I have to ride cautiously.) In all honesty, I love how rough it is, only because I love that out of control feeling it has.

    More like 10 to 15mph.

  7. I too just came back from TRON, and I was actually quite pleased with it, especially after reading some of the harsher reviews on Roten Tomatoes. Sometimes you just have to form an opinion for yourself though, and now that I've seen it, I feel that it was a decent film, or at least a bit better than what some of those critics said.

I had initially planned on buying an IMAX-3D ticket since our local theater recently put in an IMAX screen, but $17 seemed a bit too much and I instead went with the Real-D theater. Has anyone seen TRON (or any other film, for that matter) in IMAX, and if you have, do you feel that the larger screen justifies the extra price?

Depends on your Imax. If you live near a Giant Imax then yes yes yes! If not then no not at all.

  8. ^^Well, by listening it seems like the launch will be a little more than 4 seconds, maybe 4.2 seconds. So 149 mph in 4.2 seconds would yield around a 1.6g launch. This is probably for reliability, but it seems like it will be slightly less "intense" than TTD. However, the sheer length of the launch should be pretty blood curdling! Also, by the look of it, it will probably have a system similar to KK rather than TTD, so I'm guessing a pulsed launch.

^Loosing an eye will probably be difficult considering passengers will be required to wear safety goggles. And this ride isn't going to be any more forceful than either of the other stratacoasters, just somewhat faster. The front seat should be quite an experience!

I wish I could come across a picture inside the hydraulic building of this beast!

The Launch is actually more intense then TTD.

TTD = 30mph per sec on average

Ferrari = 35.47mph per sec on average (about equal to Xcelerator and a hint under KK) at 4.2 seconds

or if 0 - 149 in 4.0 like on RCDB, 37.25mph ( more then Xcelerator and KK)

  9. I don't understand why this is a big deal. How is this different from, in the 50s and 60s when they did rides based on the movies of that time - Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Dumbo, Swiss Family Robinson, etc, etc...

Or in the 80s and 90s when they did rides based on movies franchises of that time - Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Honey I shrunk the kids...

So now they are doing rides and attractions based on today's movie licenses - Toy Story, Nemo, Monsters Inc, Cars, etc.

    I don't get where you're coming from.

If you're asking why doesn't Disney do more "non-movie tie in rides" like Pirates or Haunted Mansion anymore, well, who says they don't, or aren't going to?

Last time I checked, very popular and pretty recent rides like Journey to the Center of the Earth, Test Track, Mission: Space, Expedition Everest or Soarin' weren't direct movie tie-ins.

These days it's very hard to spend $100 - $200 million on an unknown franchise or property.

To answer your question - I think the Toy Story land fits in just fine and I think you'll find most people will that the "WTF are you talking about???" reaction to your question.

    --Robb

    Thank you!

Disney fans are nuts,go on micechat and it is constant complaining about how Pixar rides are bad for Disney... last time i checked Pixar is Disney! Its no different just like you said.

I love Bugsland at DCA and Toy Story Playland looks really good.

  10. WOW, That is a horrible video. Im shocked.

    --Jay

It's just a teaser, dude. Relax.

As for me, I'll definitely be there on September 18. It's good to hear that Water Country will be getting some new stuff, as well.

I ment quality wise, I mean they shot it on like $100 handy cam it looks like. Plus the txt is just like plain standard. Im just saying it looks like they put 0 Effort into it. I could have made a better video in a day.
