  1. Any non-season-pass-holders looking for some single-day HP tickets?  I bought 4 of their spring sale tickets in March, and wouldn't ya know it, I haven't been able to and won't be able to make it at all this summer.  Anyone interested in getting them? They're for the regular season so gotta use them before the 11th.  $48 even each, plus the satisfaction of helping a fellow enthusiast and really-active-in-like-2012 TPR user out.

  2. I've got a bit of an odd souvenir-related question. I went to Dollywood recently and bought one of the name mugs for a friend, but it broke on the way back, and I'm nowhere near Pigeon Forge normally. Is there anyone here who is

    1) Going to Dollywood soon anyway

    2) Willing to pick up a name mug and ship it if I reimburse you for your troubles?

  3. Could someone tell me what the boat thing is, and explain why it's so annoying?

    Fixed that for you.

But back in early December 2015, while the world record breaker, Valravn, was being constructed, many people were complaining shocker about people posting photos of the littlest things happen, I.e. track piece coming onto site, a bolt being tighten, the usually. So someone posted a photo from the webcam and said a long the lines of "as you can see, a boat is leaving the marina" and then that started the whole boat thing.

It went on all off-season. ["gif of Robin Williams saying 'good times']

Let me stop you right there.

    It was horrible.

  4. I'm not dogging them for trying something new, because that's how we end up with really groundbreaking cutting edge rides. However, it makes you wonder how much more roller coaster Dollywood could gotten for the money spent on a traditional chain lift wooden coaster.

From what I've gathered the coaster part is amazing. The issue, as we've revisited time and again, is that an untested company is using experimental tech for a very high-scrutiny ride.

I've found myself idly wondering what the smallest hypothetical change would lead to the ride being open. Like, if an engineer didn't have a wild night on a Thursday night back last September, he wouldn't have come in to work hungover on Friday, and would have noticed and fixed a problem that ended up snowballing into whatever the issue is now.

  5. OMG IK Pokémon Go is getting sort of out of hand. A lot of parks have ENCOURAGED the USE of Pokémon Go. For example: Six Flags New England Posted on their Instagram, "We have tons of Pokémon here! Come play! We have poke stops and gyms!"

You ain't kidding. Great Adventure has an entire page on their site with all sorts of tips for the game while in the park. Ive said it elsewhere and I'll say it again - its only a matter of time before someone gets Raptor'd trying to catch a Pokemon.

That poor tired intern that was commanded to make this page

  6. Much to everyone's chagrin, I am one of the few people who appreciate - and check for - the constant Lightning Rod updates, as I have a Dollywood trip planned in a week and a half, and "just wait until next year!" isn't really an option.

So if any Illuminati members or secret lizard people have Zionist insider information on LR operations, I'm one of the folks who appreciate it

  7. Dollywood's site now says...

Jun 29 Lightning Rod has reopened in technical ride rehearsal after the Rocky Mountain Construction recall on June 17. The ride may be subject to temporary closure or delays from time to time.

Let's hope this is the beginning of brighter days for Lightning Rod!

So I'm still not 100% sure what technical ride rehearsal means for me if I go tomorrow... I'm feeling dumb

"Lightning Rod is open but will probably have a bunch of downtime until we're confident enough to say that it's Open No Guys For Real This Time We Mean It"

  8. To take a break from the nonsense and rumors...

For barbecue connoisseurs in Knoxville, if you had to choose between Chandler's, Archer's on Gay St., and Sweet P's Downtown Dive, which would you say is the best place to stop to eat for BBQ? Because of our schedule we'll only be able to eat at one of those three. I've seen praise and scorn heaped on all three in roughly equal amounts, and I'd hate to choose "wrong" if that makes sense.
