I vote for Gatekeeper as it really seems to take the wing coaster to the next level and looks much better than any other wing coaster out there yet. The height, speed, and placement of the coaster make it top notch.
YOLO just seems to me like a mediocre, short launcher that doesn't take advantage of its awesome terrain. I have no doubt it will be fun but honestly, having two-sided track isn't that cool.

Thanks a ton for all of your help.
My friend and I talked and we actually decided to switch and go to DisneySea.
So...should be a great time!
Thanks again.

I apologize. I understand the park is super difficult and I want to buy the passes. But I asked if the fast pass center opened with the park or later?
-
So, from what I've seen: Get there at opening, stand in line and get fast passes, then go on and try to enjoy?
Thank you for the location of the passes, but does the pass office open with the park? I'm just wondering because a March weekday may have a chance of being a not-so-horrible crowd day, and another option I was thinking was to go to a major coaster at opening and THEN buy passes if needed. But then they might be sold out.
Any opinions on which is a better plan?
-
I am also planning to go to Fuji-Q in a week. Sorry if I missed something but where and when can fast passes be bought?
And also, based on anyone's experience, how horribly busy would it be on a weekday in late March?

Yes, Google Chrome is a life-saver! I found the operating hours and bus/train routes and everything. Now I just must organize my tentative group so we can maybe nail a bus reservation (if not, train it is).
Unfortunately the weather doesn't look too good on the day my whole group can go. It looks cloudy, and judging by the 2008 report, that's not good. So, might go individually.
I have not yet found any info on the skip line passes, however. I would certainly consider buying them, expensive or not. A trip report I read talked about them being sold somewhere after the park opened, with limited supplies of them available. Does anyone know anything more about that?

This is a bit random but I've always thought a great coaster for Valleyfair would be a clone of CGA's Flight Deck. It's a small, but intense B&M invert, can't be that expensive in relation to bigger B&M's, and it's better than an SLC. I don't know if it can be cloned, but I have just always thought it would be a cool fit.

No.
The Boss is NOT that rough. It has, in my opinion, enough bite to make it a boss! Texas Giant and Rattler were rough. Plus Rattler was boring. Boss is not boring and not rough; it has a great layout! I could MAYBE see Topper track--like others have said, but the Iron Horse would be completely unnecessary in my view.
I think RMC's Iron Horse treatment works best on twister style coasters like Texas Giant, so I could see Mean Streak, Twister 2, Cyclone (SFNE), Le Monstre, and Coaster Express being good candidates. CCI's are good enough as is.

Thanks for the help! Yes, I might take the bus. And the best ride in the park...you're probably right.
One thing though, I can't seem to find hours at all on the website. I found an old version of the site from 2000 (with Double Loop and Zola) that had hours, but I haven't found hours on the new interactive site. The old one only had hours beginning April 1st, so I hope that's changed.
Also, random other question, I am going to Kyushu in May and may have time for a park. Would you recommend Space World or Mitsui Greenland?
Thanks again

Hello all, I am currently studying abroad in Japan and have plans to go to the Tokyo area for spring break in late March. I plan during this time on heading out to Fuji-Q. I am aware of the park's pretty bad reputation on this site, but the "Big 4" coasters there are enough incentive to go. I am wondering from anyone who's been there before:
1. What would the crowds be like for late March, most likely a weekday?
2. Is there any fast lane type upgrade? Judging by all the pics of humongous lines I assume there's not.
3. I see that you pay per ride unless you purchase the "free pass." For a day of straight coaster riding, this would probably be best, correct?
4. Any magic seats? I'd like to try Dodonpa in front, Takabisha in front, Eejanaika in front or back, and Fujiyama in both front and back.
5. I see that none of the major coasters operate in the rain.
6. Any rides other than the Big 4 coasters that you would recommend? I am also interested in the Giant Frisbee, the wild mouse, and the Super Scary Haunted Labyrinth thing.
7. Anything worthwhile that I should know. Transportation I think I am okay on from Shinjuku Station in Tokyo.
Any info would help. Thanks a lot!

They need to take the train's old tunnel under Demon off of the map...

Looks fun. Some of the beginning hills look a little slow, but the airtime on the end hills makes up for it. That's also a pretty steep drop for any Morgan coaster. Glad to see the company getting new ideas.

Wildcat - CP - 2003
Whizzer - SFGAm. - 2008
Greezed Lightnin' - SFKK - 2009

^ Yes, I think CGA can't afford to lose any more coasters at this point. But if one were to go, I would have to say Grizzly as well.
Plus, if Vortex is demolished, it would be the first defunct B&M. I personally think that if Cedar Fair did decide to remove it they'd relocate it to Michigan's Adventure!

Wow, that's great thanks! Looks more or less what I thought it would, but I also assumed Viper took Rolling Thunder's queue. Didn't know they coexisted for a year.
Very cool. So Viper has had a long queue with both entrances... Also an interesting POV without Southwest Territory or Raging Bull.
-
Something I've been wondering about for a while is Viper in its inaugural year. I read that it opened in 1995 with its entrance in Hometown Square as Southwest Territory wasn't created yet.
Does anyone know where the old entrance was located and are there any pictures?

The Boss is fine and the park has really put some work in it. The last two years I have ridden The Boss they have been some of the best rides I have had on it ever.
Agreed. My rides on Boss have all been enjoyable. I didn't find it to be rough at all, if anything it was rough enough to make it seem like a wood coaster and not a super-smooth steel one.
-
Personally, I think another Alpengeist-sized B&M invert would be great, but I'd want it to have more forces than Alpengeist. Judging by B&M's recent creations, a forceful invert may be out of the picture. But a big invert would still be fun, think of a full circuit hyper invert!

I am really surprised that Renegade at VF isn't regarded as a better coaster. It is a fun ride, great speed (it typically only runs one train so the trims are never on). It doesn't have great airtime which if it did have more airtime would rank this coaster much higher than it normally is ranked.
Does Renegade have trims now? I don't remember any back in 2008.
-
Also, the ride is still around. I rode it at Silverwood.
-
Wow, I'm actually excited to ride this now...I'm spending a semester in Osaka. Is it said anywhere if the ride will be open (still forwards) until March? Or is it closed for testing until then?
-
As painful as this could be, I am really looking forward to trying this out...
-
^ Although Magnum still gets the best ridership in the whole park.
-
^ Batman does need new paint badly. I believe it's the only 6 Flags Batman that has not been repainted EVER (although I'm not sure about SFOT's, although that's a newer version), or at least it's still the only one that's black.
^^I also thought Tidal Wave would be leaving, but I'm really glad it's not. Those rides are fun and the soakage is excellent. I do see it leaving probably within a few years, though.
I think the space beyond Tidal Wave is screaming for a new coaster. The path just dead-ends after Tidal Wave and there's enough room back there for a good-sized ride. Hopefully one day they'll concentrate on that area with or without Tidal Wave's removal.
A trip to Fuji-Q

Yeah, I think I made the right decision...
