  1. Does anyone know what time ERT for gold pass is tomorrow? We got an email saying 9 and that that was 1 hour early, but park website says it opens at 1030 to gp, so that would make ERT at 930? Have tried contacting park but got very confused people and no answer.
  2. Does anyone have any suggestions for early entry? We are going to be staying at breakers this weekend so we will get early entry on Sat and Sunday. We will likely be getting a FL+ on Saturday, but I am wondering what people think the best use of each day is? Marathon MF or Maverick? Maybe spend the first 45 min on rides then hit TTD? Let me know what you think! We have Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday.
  3. My wife and I are off to Cedar Point next week. We are flying into Detroit on Friday and are going to try our best to get there for 6 (though our flight lands at 330, so I am being realistic and expecting to get there by 7 by the time we deal with getting the car and any traffic). I think we have a good plan, with some help from this forum, where we are going to ride our brains out Friday and then we are staying at the Breakers Fri and Sat night, so Sat is early entry, then FL+. The park is open till Midnight, so I think we will get our monies worth. What I am wondering about is the Fright Lane with Skeleton key. Has anyone used this? Is it worth it? It says you get access to secret rooms. Looking at the price its $60pp on the Saturday and $35pp on Sunday. So I was thinking if picking one up Sunday, then we can catch a few rides, but also check out the houses. Just not sure if its worth it. Obvioulsy I will see the lines when we get there, not buying ahead of time, but curious is the extra room is worth it alone? We did not plan this trip thinking about Halloweekends, its just a bonus for us. So if anyone had used this and has any thoughts would love to hear it! Oh and last question, current weather says high of 24, low of 14, which sounds pretty nice to me, but given the park is on the lake I assume that it will be cool at night? just trying to plan clothes to bring. Because we are a breakers we can always change later in the day.
  4. ^Thanks, good tips. Also can anyone confirm if we can do early access with our gold passes from MM? On the benefits page it doesn't say early entry to other parks.
  5. Wondering what the best strategy for the park is. We are going this Saturday and have Gold Passes from SFMM, so we can do the early entry. How does early entry work here? I know at MM they have a little gate on the far side that gold people line up at, is it the same here. We are going to probably grab a gold flash pass (use the 2 for 1 coupon we have with the season pass), but what should we head to with early entry? At MM we usually run over to Yolo for a few rides, then try and squeeze an X2 in and then go get our passes. I think everything here is on the FP, but figure we can still get a few good rides in before the masses. Any suggestions would be great. I want to get as much in as possible as we will have to leave around 6.
  6. ^^Thanks for the tip, if we can make the trip in 2.5 hours we will be good, so I will use your suggested route. And don't worry I never expect smooth roads when I visit the states Luckily I am almost always driving a rental car.
  7. I am really surprised that it is that busy in September, when I booked flights I didn't even think of Halloween, just figure September would be a slow time. but between Friday night, doing a FP+ on Saturday and then a hopefully slower Sunday, I think we should get our monies worth!
  8. ^ Thanks, good info and thanks for that TR good stuff. I figured Friday would be a good day to get some serious rides in and I think we will just plan on the FP+, but wait and see how things go (fingers crossed on weather given we are flying our specifically for the park).
  9. Hoping for a bit of advice. My wife and I have decided to make this the year of Rides! We spent April in Orlando, are popping down to SF/LA for labour day and then decided to head to CP on Sept 26-29. Got some great flight deals into Detroit (about $200pp cheaper than Cleveland). So few questions: What is the drive like from Detroit to the Point? Toll road etc? We land at 3:00 on Friday and are going to grab a car and head to the point, hopefully be there for 6pm opening. Does that sound doable? I looked on Google Earth and it says 1:50 drive from the airport and I see the airport is SW of the city so I am hoping for no/light traffic? I don't know this part of the world at all, so any tips would be great. We are going to do 3 days at the park, Fri Evening, Saturday and Sunday. I have gone back and forth a lot, but I finally settled on staying at breakers. Price with ticket deals, parking etc was only marginally more expensive than a motel off site so we are going to do breakers for the closeness and getting in early! What I cant seem to figure (and I read hundreds of pages on here!) is how busy things are in late September. People say the Halloweekends are crazy, but does this include September? Fast Lane + is what I am thinking for Saturday? My wife and I have been here once before, right when Gatekeeper opened (which I hated due to the restraints, looking forward to re riding now that those are fixed). So the only new ride of interest is Pipe Scream, havnt seen many comments on this one, what do people think? My wife hates spinning things (loves coasters) so she is not really looking forward to this, but to me didn't look like a barfy spinning thing. And last question, does anyone have a link to something showing what Halloweekends are all about? Don't see much on CP page, but I am betting I am just not looking in the right place. Thanks!
  10. I am wondering if anyone knows a bit about early entry for guests of the hotel? We will be going to Knotts on Sept1 (the Monday Holiday) and we are staying at the hotel the sunday and Monday night. I didn't book directly, surprising enough I booked through Hotwire looking for a place close to Knotts and ended up with the knots hotel. So just wondering if we can still get the early access. Anyone have a similar experience? Thanks!
  11. Actually, usually X2 has the best most efficient ride ops which is one of the reasons why the line dies down in the evening. Lately I've been hearing how terrible X2 ops are and how quick YOLOCoaster ops have been. I think they've recently switched their best ride ops from X2 to YOLOCoaster, perhaps due to the 1 train rehab. Riddler also used to be terrible for the longest time, then got good for a while and recently I've been hearing horror stories again. Historically X2 and Goliath usually have the best ops most of the time, it's unusual for X2 to be running that badly, but I've been hearing the same thing from everyone lately so whoever is currently assigned to it is doing a terrible job. Thats interesting to hear, I really hope they change this before we go back in September as I would like to get a few rides in. We were at Cedar Point last year and boy do they blow six flags out of the water for efficiency! Six Flags needs to go poach a few people from Cedar Fair to help them figure out how to get their people operating quicker. Oh and one other tip I dont think I have seen on here is when you get in Flash Pass line, if there are people waiting at the gate/merge point, ask them right away if they are waiting. We had mutiple times where we got to the merge and people where standing blocking the way. At first I assumed they were waiting for the attendant, but soon realized they had regular flash passes and were just sitting there waiting for their time. Npothing wrong with that, but these people never seem to tell the other people that come up. On goliath we wait about 5 min, and where actually chatting with the people blocking when I finally said what is the hold up and they were like oh, we are just waiting, did you want to go? Ahhh some people.
  12. So I thought I would post a quick review with some info that I was not able to find before we went, that may help out others. So my wife and I went on Saturday the 17th, it was pretty warm, but my understanding is that it had cooled down a lot over the previous days (we landed in LA late on the 16th, so I am not sure how hot it got, but I think the news said average temps were 75ish and it cracked 100). We are going another trip that will see us visit 2 moresix flags so we bought the gold season pass. I had been trying to find out before we went if we could use the early entry before we had officially registered. From what I foud it seemed like best idea was to get there early and go to the processing centre and be good to go. However we left a bit a late and by the time we got through the metal detectors it was 10:10 and the line at the processing centre was really long. I had read something about if you had signed up online you oculd go in through the exit, so i asked a staffmember who was moving the bars that made the line. He said hold on and went in to check. When he came back he said if you have paid online and put all your info in they would process you at the gate. This didnt seem right to me as I had not read that anywhere and all the vouchers I printed said to go to the processing centre. In any event we decided to just try it so we got in the gold line, which opened right at 10:20 and we got to front by about 10:24. Sure enought they processed us at the gate, gave us cards which we wrote our names on got our finger prints. Took about 1 min per person and we were in! Super easy to do, I just wish they told people you could do it. We saw tons of people in line at the processing centre that had obviously bought tickets online and they all probably missed the early entry. So we went right to YOLO and rode it 3 times. Only 1 car working, but it was really fun, we didnt see it go, we just walked up and got on, so the first exceleration surprised me, was faster than I thought, though still no where close to Top Thrill Dragster (my standard for fast exceleration). We then went over to X2 to see if we could get a ride but it was down. So we went and grabbed our Platinum Pass and started around the park. Highlights/Lowlights for me: Seems like they are holding people back a lot more than I remember from our last trip 3 years ago. This is awesome for flash pass. I remember for superman getting into the FP entrance and still having a massive line. This time we would go through and there was only a one train wait. We did 4 rides in about 25 min, was great. Green Lantern was a lot more fun than I remember. We went when it has first opened last time, so I think we only rode twice. We got 4 rides in this time and once had a ride with two huge guys on the other side and flipped a lot. We were really dissapointed by the ride twice thing on the platinum pass. The ride operators do nothing and we had to explain to the other guests that we were riding twice, whoch let to a few arguments until someone finally cam over and let the other guests know about the ride twice. I am planning to send them feedback that I will never pay for platinum again until they sort this out. We always told the operators before our first ride we would be riding twice and I would appriciate it if they actually explained it to other guest. Just made for some uncomfortable moments. X2 was finally back up later in the day and we went and got in line at about 4:45, I think the line was about 25 min, but what a gong show that place is! So poorly run. The operator guarding the door to the lockrs was not letting enough people in, and people where taking forever putting there stuff away, so the train that left as we went in had 4 empty seats and the one we got on had 6! And there was a big long line outside. Absolutely terrible. I get they make extra money off the lockrs, but I now think they are doing whatever they can to make the line stay so they can sell rides to Flash pass people. Was really annoying to see so many empty seats go out. But I forgot just how much I love x2! Only got the one ride as we had to go around 5:30 to catch the Billy Joel concert at the hollywood bowl. All in all we had a good day, loved that we were able to get our gold pass at the gate, but they really need to do something about the ride twice and X2 loading.
  13. Thanks for the tips, looks like it will cool down a bit for tomorrow but still a hot one, so I will getting that drink for sure! And I see we can bring it back on labour day for 99 cent refils. So I bought the Gold Passes yesterday as I realized we would also have a chance to use them at the 6f north of San Fran this year too. The only other question I have is does anyone know the hours for the processing centre? We are from Vancouver Canada so no 6f around us. We land tonight at 8:30 at LAX, so I assume we wont be able to get it done then. My current plan based on what I have researched is to get to the park aroun 9:30-9:45. We have a voucher for parking and from what I found the processing center opens at 10 (anyone know for sure?). So if there are not to many people for that we will go and get the passes, but if its to many people then we will just try and do early entry with the paper vouchers I have for the gold pass and then get the real passes when we leave. Anyone have any different suggestions?
  14. Thanks Jeromy, quick question do you need to get the actual plastic gold pass before you enter the park or can you enter the park with the voucher you get and then sign up inside? If you can do it outside what time do they open? Thanks!
  15. $25. Yep. Website has parking for $20, maybe if you pay ahead its cheaper?
  16. I am hoping some MM regulars can help me out with a few questions. My wife and I usually got to once MM every couple of years, however this year we will be going to LA twice and have decided to hit MM twice. I was looking online and saw that they are selling Gold Passes for $130 per person. So 2 people would be $260 and from what I can see that includes parking. If we went twice this year we would pay $47.99 x2 (we are going this weekend, so cant get the cheaper advanced) plus $42.99 x 2 plus parking $20 x2, so about $222. Cost wise it would be an extra $38 total, but what caught my eye was the early entrance. I have not found a ton of information on the early entrance other than it looks like it is 10 min early (which would help us get to X2 first). However someone mentioned on this thread that the early entrance was not working well. Can anyone comment? Is it worth the 38 for the early entrance twice? Can you use it right away if you buy online? The other issue I have read about it actually getting the pass can take a long time, any suggestions? We will be buying FP, but still want to maximize our time. Thanks in Advance. Of and if days matter we are going this saturday and then the Labour Day long weekend.
  17. Harper, one quick question did you use the FP on Superman? I keep reading different reports on this and the website doesnt have it listed as a FP ride.
  18. Harper, Thanks for the comments. Our plan is try and get one free X2 ride in, and if its as awesome as everyone says then we will book the extra trip (or 2!) for the $15pp. I also see you can book GL for the same price, so we may do that depedning on the line. Some report seem to say that the GL isnt too bad, as opposed to the 2.5 hour X2!
  19. Hi Everyone, First Apologies if some of this is a repeat, I ahve been reading through these forums, trying to answer most of my questions (many of which I have!) but there are a few things I was hoping toconfirm as I have read conflicting posts. First my Wife and I will be visiting SFMM on Saturday Aug 6th. I know visiting on a Saturday is not the best idea, but we are on a tigh vacation schedule and this was really the only day that would work. So I have pre bought online tickets parking, and a Platinum Flashpass for 2. This was a no brainer for us, we know that SFMM is going to be super busy on a saturday and this will be a one of deal, so want to make the most of the visit. Anyways here is my plan and a few questions. Park opens at 10am, so we are planning to arrive at parking around 9:15. Do people line up at the entrance? Any tips for this? Once we are in we are going to head straight to X2. My wife is not likely going to want run full out, I am guessing a speed walk will be the best I get. So given that what sort of line are we looking at for X2? After X2 we are going to head over to the FP place and pick it up. I am a bit worried about the line for these things (I love the irony of a long line for a line hopping device). I have read up to an hour wait for one? Is this true? My last question is regarding the FP lines. How do these generally work? Do they merge into the regular line before the ride, or does it put you right on the ride? Ok I lied one last questions, the website does not say you can use FP on Superman, but I have read on here you can? Anyone know for sure? Thanks for any help/answer anyone can provide.
