  1. Turns out I am unable to get to WCB this year. (Screw up at work.) I have single tickets for both days. I'll sell them for $75 for the pair or $40 each. Email me via the links to the left if you are interested. Harold
  2. Rob ... I was wondering if parking would be free at Knotts and SFMM as it was last year. Didn't see that mentioned anywhere. It's quite a savings.
  3. Some off-ride video from West Coast Bash. Sure was fun on the backstage tour to be able to take video standing right under some of the rides.
  4. This is my first WCB and I'm hoping there are some people here who might offer some tips on surviving it. First, a question? I notice that the info says "free parking" until 8:30am. I'm assuming that this means if you arrive before that time you get free parking for the day ... a good saving. Secondly, my last theme park visit was about ten years ago so to SF near Dallas/Fort Worth. This was for four or five hours. Not the marathon that WCB appears to be. Is it worth taking a knap sack with sunscreen, sun glasses, water, change of clothes (or at least some things to layer as the temperature changes)? Is it a nuisance putting things in a locker plus paying for the priviledge? Right now the long range forecast is calling for sunny but (at least to you Californians) chilly weather on the 19th and 20th. I'd also like to take lots of pictures. I have a smallish waterproof/shockproof digital camera. I know not to use in while 'on' the rides. But is it practical (or allowed) to stick it in a zippered pocket while riding. I suppose it would not be very comfortable if it got stuck under a restraint or lap belt. I'm travelling down to L.A. (first visit) on Tuesday for a week of exploring the town. I'm sure WCB will be the highlight. Thanks for any tips you might have for this newbee. Harold Victoria, B.C. Canada
  5. Thanks, Mechanic. I've just now made reservations to spend a week in L.A. (which I've never visited before) and attend the WCB. I'll be sure to watch for you and your friends.
  6. Thanks for the encouragement, Robb. I'm going to go and check on airfares right now. Harold
  7. Last fall I had a significant birthday (60) and thought that a great way of celebrating would be to ride some rollercoasters. There are no big parks near where I live in Canada but I have visited Six Flags over Texas in Dallas and Canada's Wonderland back in the early days. And I have fond memories of the old 'Flyer' wooden coaster that was at the Canadian National Exhibition grounds in Toronto. Sadly, it's since been torn down. I have been unable to talk any of my friends into going to L.A. to visit MM. But the WCB seems a good way to take in both of these parks in one weekend. I'm wondering if you get people coming solo and whether you maybe have a way of matching people up. Frankly I'm a bit of a moderate where coasters are concerned. Some are just way to scary to consider and I'm kinda afraid of heights. So I would likely be up for riding some of the coasters but certainly no all of them. I can check out the TPR YouTube channel to figure out what I might be up for. Any thoughts appreciated. Would this be a waste of my time? Would people make fun of me for not wanting to ride anything that goes up TOO high? Harold
