  1. Personally I would do Carowinds.

With volcano being closed and the mess that is twisted timbers with its new no loose artical policy and increased wait times. I would give it a bit before visiting. Granted there are still a ton of great reasons to visit the park but if volcano is a big reason for you visiting, I would wait.

I also might be a bit bias since I love Carowinds a lot more than KD. Lol

  2. Some of you have heard about the new amusement park coming to Foley Alabama opening this summer. It's supposed to have three thrill rides including one major roller coaster which if I remember correctly will be the longest in the southeast.

Wait, so I'm confused. Is there a coaster that hasn't been announced for this park yet or are we talking about the thunderbolt clone? I'm hearing lots of people say longest coaster in the south east as well that news report saying second longest in the country.

  3. There were a few rides I loved working on at SFNE.

Tazs Dare Devil Dive (Skycoaster) - skycoasters are amazing to work and they can do no wrong. Enough said.

Flying Aces- This was my all time favorite kids ride to work on. The area where it was located was never very busy and when people did come, you had the time to really interact with them and make the kids be the happiest they could be.

Fireball- this is a fun ride to operate just because the entire cycle is controlled by the operator with a joystick.

Scream- this is probably my favorite ride to work on that's not a coaster. It's always fun to freak guest out by giving fake count downs or having them launch when they think they will climb slowly. I also love it because I like trying to get quick dispatch times. It's pretty rewarding when you can say you got a really high number that hour and you're the reason/half the reason/a third of the reason. Lol

    For coasters...

Mind Eraser- 1 attendant is a blast because you really have to hustle to get trains out quickly. When it has two attendants, it's just that much better. Try really seems to fly by while working on this ride.

Batman- fun to work on just because I like the challenge of rolling trains. Doing this is very difficult on this ride because by the time train in the station has parked, the train on the lift is already going down the first drop, so you have only a small window of time to dispatch the next train.

Superman: The Ride- Love it. Love attending it (with 2,4,or 6 attendants), Love operating it. Just love it.

Thunderbolt- I like operating it because you have to park the train yourself.

Wicked Cyclone- fun to attend with 4 attendants because we only have to check 6 seats and we have very quick dispatch times. Operating it is also a lot of fun. It's pretty similar to operating the orginal cyclone, just with a few more buttons and cooler looking panel.

Goliath- I loved working both (old and new train) versions of this ride. It's always nice to be able to have a minute to yourself and that's what you get as you are watching the ride cycle.

  5. I am glad they're doing a good job with it (though I'll be curious to see if that level of quality keeps on year after year), and if I lived 30 minutes away I'd probably consider going. I guess that's probably what they're hoping for anyway, I doubt anyone thinks this is going to draw people from 2+ hours away. I'll be curious to hear how this works out for them

The thing is is that the event is in fact bringing people in from 2+ hours way. I myself live 4 hours away, took the trip down from Massachusetts for opening night and had a great time. I also have many non coaster enthusiast friends that want to go down for the event because it looks, and in my opinion, is that good. I also saw many license plates from other states like New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts. So what ever the park is do, it's clearly working.

  6. Hey everyone, sorry to change the subject for a moment. I was wondering if any one here could help me with a few questions about Halloweekends. I trying to plan my first trip to this event and i've done some searching on the web with no luck to any answers.

I was wondering if anyone knew if Fast Lane and Fright Lane are sold together or as one, or are they both normally separate prices? I noticed that during the normal summer season, Fast Lane is $80 and Fast Lane Plus is $100, but during September, it's $100 for Regular and $125 for plus. I'm assuming that they are both sold together, but I would just like to clarify.

Also I was wondering if they close the park down like some other parks do and then reopen the park for the event? If this is something they do do, would a Cedar Fair Platinum Pass (I have one for Carowinds) cover the event or is it an additional fee? The parks website also mentions black out dates, does anyone know when those dates are?

    Thanks in advance!

    -Kevin

  7. Right now we have about 22 inches of snow on the ground with another two or three inches expected. Also the travel ban for my area doesn't expire until midnight.
