  2. Outstanding!!! Have to ask for that day off of work. That would be great if we could get a ride...most likely not.
  3. I'm looking forward to hear the B & M roar from the square base for the track!!! Sounds like uptime will be 99%!!! from Sandusy Register "and very high ride reliability (less than 1 percent operational downtime)".
  4. I love Cedar Point and I didn't think anyone would think I was putting a "negative slant" on the reason for the delay by my posting. I just posted what Dick Kinzel the CEO of Cedar Fair said in an interview to the Sandusky Register. I found the article interesting and I thought others would too. I thought it would be better than hearing a rumor from "the lemon chill stand guy".
  5. Found out the exact reason why Shoot The Rapids opening day was delayed till May 29th: "Shoot the Rapids also has been delayed because of an engineering problem. "Basically, we had trouble with the boats," Kinzel said Monday. "It's more of an engineering problem than a safety problem." "The manufacturer made the flume, and he contracted out the boats," Kinzel said. "When the boats came together, the boats didn't fit the flumes." Kinzel said workers have been busy all week trying to modify the boats, which were too long and didn't go over the top of the hill properly. That can destroy the flume, he said" Link attached. Can't wait to ride STR! On opening day I checked out the viewing area and it has 8 water canons, 4 for at the beginning of the first lift hill and the other 4 at the second lift hill. For a quarter you can fire one shot and get the some of the riders wet before they start the lift hill. The water canons were operating on Saturday and you will get wet on this ride! http://www.sanduskyregister.com/articles/2010/05/11/front/doc4be82bf01b51e937174743.txt
  6. Shoot the Rapids will not open this Saturday for Cedar Points opening day. New opening date is May 29th. This is per the Cedar Point offical web site. I'm bummed, I wanted to be in the race for one of the first riders!!! http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/2010/5/10/Shoot_the_Rapids_Update.cfm
  7. Per Greg Scheid, Kings Island Vice President & General Manager is reviewing quotes for design changes to fix the the ride. I love to take first timers on SOB and watch their facial expressions while in the "Rose Bowl"!! "Scheid said he has asked three engineering firms to submit proposals for a long-term fix. One firm’s proposal was unsatisfactory, he said, and he is waiting for the others." http://www.oxfordpress.com/news/oxford-news/son-of-beast-wont-open-this-season-607408.html ADMIN EDIT: I have quoted the story you have linked so that readers don't have to hyperlink to see the news. Thanks for sharing this with us!
  8. Hello everyone! I'm new to TPR and I just attended the 2010 West Coast Bash!! I think I need to put a bullet in my head right now because I don't think I can top this last weekend! ha-ha. I'm just used to The Beast (Kings Island) being my first and last ride of the Mid-West coaster season (April 15 - October 31). But, starting out this season with my very first ride of the 2010 season being numerous ERT rides on X2 was awesome!!! X2, once it started, it never let up!! My new top five coasters: 1). Top Thrill Dragster (Cedar Point) 2). X2 3). Goliath (so sorry, Millennium Force or Millie as we call her (Cedar Point)) I just love the way Goliath goes over the top ever so slowly and the mid way slow 60 degree turn! 4). Maverick (Cedar Point) 5). Terminator Salvation (Take the Tunnel! - now I understand what that term means) I also love to go to Halloween weekend events at Cedar Point and Kinds Island to go through the haunted attractions. I belong to ACE and Great Ohio Coaster Club so I can attend Coaster Mania at Cedar Point plus the Fall Freak out at Kings Island and get tours of the haunted attractions with the lights on, plus front of the line passes to the haunted attractions when they are open! Thanks Robb and everyone that helped set up the 2010 West Coast Bash!!! BTW, do I really have to chop down all my pictures I want to attach to 800 x 800 from 2480 x 2480?
