  1. I haven't been since 2006. Has there been any major additions since February of 2006? Also, I'm going during the week of Mardi Gras. Is this a slow period for WDW?
  2. Blue Bayou Water Park in Baton Rouge, LA announced in 2011 that it would be adding a Quadruple AquaLoop Water Slide for the 2012 season. If you aren't sure what that is, I've attached a photo of the one at Wet N' Wild in Australia. I'll be posting updates of construction as Blue Bayou posts them to their Facebook page. They will also be redoing their lazy river and making other various updates to the water park. If there are any other updates about Blue Bayou I'll post them here. Quadruple AquaLoop at Wet N' Wild Area at Blue Bayou being prepped to begin construction of Quadruple Aqualoop.
  3. Not only will they be adding the Quadruple Aqua Loop, but will also be updating their lazy river, their kids play area, their menus, and bathhouses. Found on their website: http://bluebayou.com/whats_new.php
  4. The City Of New Orleans opened up bidding in April of this year for redevelopment of SFNO. They had a meeting yesterday to review the 8 bidder proposals. Here's the eight proposals: Louisiana Heritage Resort BP: 200-plus-acre resort with nine "theme lands" and 20 acres of sound stages. RCS Entertainment Inc.: Crescent City Amusement Park, a green amusement park. Dag Development and Provident: outlet mall with a boardwalk entertainment district. Packaert LLC: electric power generation plant. The Paida Company: water park and back lot for the film industry. JWM Ventures: resort with theme park, water park and sports complex. Powell Commodity Inc.: commercial retail and family entertainment venue with theme park. A business coalition led by Al Philips: eco park focusing on green usages of water and green construction. There will be another meeting next week to narrow it down to five. The criteria for selection is in the article. http://www.nola.com/business/index.ssf/2011/11/new_orleans_looks_at_8_proposa.html
  5. This year for senior trip we're going to Universal's Grad Bash and I was wondering if this was worth it or if it was just like any other trip to Universal?
  6. Yeah, I thought IOA was a great park. And blade1, we wanted to ride it, but by the time the wait was down it was time to go.
  7. When I was at IOA yesterday I was able to get some pictures using a crappy iPhone camera. Entrance We went straight to the Hulk coaster when we walked in Cool lookin thing that was in the queue while we waited an hour. It was only 10 Various shots of the Incredible Hulk coaster The next place we went was Toon Lagoon. The first ride we did was Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges Kinda blurry, but some aggravating bird Dudley Do-Right Ripsaw Falls. We didn't get to ride this We didnt do anything in Suess Land, but I got a few pictures when walking towards The Lost Continent We ate lunch at the Fireeater's Grill in The Lost Continent ; the food wasnt that great. By the time we got to Harry Potter it had cleared up. There was only a 15 minute wait for Dragon Challenge so thats the first thing we did View of Hogwarts from Dragon Challenge queue Dragon Challenge queue Hungarian Horntail (Ice) We chose the Chinese Fireball first, later rode the Hungarian Horntail, and then rode the Chinese Fireball again. Imo, the Fireball was better Next up, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Except, this is the only picture I got. Its taken from the area of the queue located in the greenhouse. It was a pretty cool ride. View of park from the bridge across the lake thing. I didnt get any pictures of Jurrasic Park, nor did I do the Jurrasic Park Ride Exit of the park. I would of gotten more pictures, but I was trying to ride everything I could
  8. Man, okay. Hopefully the park wont be crowded today. We're leaving at 9 and we're really close to the park, anyone know how crowded it is in the beginning of June?
  9. Question about the single rider lines, can the person or people you're riding with also go in the single rider line and get on at the same time as you?
  10. Less than a week away now. I'll try to hit up everything yall mentioned and possibly create a trip report. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  11. I didn't take these pictures. To answer your question on how someone would get in, it is fairly easy. The city isn't really doing much to keep people out. There's actually wild animals due to the overgrowth and the fact that its just undeveloped land next to it. I have friends who went at night and were chased by something, possibly a wild boar.
  12. So basically hit up everything I can while I'm there and go to Harry Potter first. What type of ride is Spiderman? And to The Yeti, I wish I could go to Universal also, but since this is a school trip we're only going to IOA.
  13. As much as I'd love for something to happen to SFNO, I do enjoy looking at abandoned theme parks. Here's some fairly recent pictures from March 2011. http://www.flickr.com/photos/chrisdame/sets/72157626275625323/with/5577070263/
  14. In the beginning of June my school is going on a trip to Orlando and one of the days we're going to Islands Of Adventure. I've never been, so I have a few questions. 1) Any coasters/attractions that I should definitely go on? 2) How crowded is it during the summer? 3) Are the waits long?
  15. I'm sorry for bumping up such an old thread, but I wanted to update all of you on the status of the coaster. It is now named "Loco Loco" and it is up and operating in the park. Here are some pictures of the coaster installed in the park with it's new paint: http://www.rcdb.com/8977.htm?p=0
  16. This is my first TR and I'm also not the best picture taker, so please forgive me. Anyway, Carousel Gardens is an amusement park located in New Orleans City Park. It's aimed towards younger children with some family rides thrown in. There is also a section of the park called Storyland where there are playsets and scenery that is themed after classic stories. Well, I hope you enjoy seeing pictures (though not the best) of this small park. There were many more rides, but I only took pictures of the more enjoyable ones. The rest were small kiddie rides. One of the entrances. The other goes directly into Carousel Gardens where as this one goes into Storyland. I spy the Cheshire Cat from Alice In Wonderland. Snow White. Why does this mermaid not have a top on? This is supposed to be for children. The Coney Tower, a small drop tower. The Scrambler. The Coney Tower again. A 40-foot Fun Slide. This is the building that holds the Carousel, the centerpiece of the park. It is one of only 100 antique carousels in the United States. Unfortunately I did not have time to go in and take pictures. Carousel Cafe and the brand new Ferris Wheel that was installed in 2009. It goes surprisingly fast. The station of the Live Oak Ladybug Coaster. I believe it's a Tivoli. It's actually pretty fun and I have a POV I may upload. A more modern version of the Tilt-A-Whirl. The seats were different than any other Tilt-A-Whirl I've ever seen. Back to Storyland.
  17. I think yall(SFMM) are getting SFNO's Road Runner Express. And to anyone who rode Harvest Express, is it boring or is it a little exciting for older people?
  18. I don't but I'm sure some pictures will pop up, and yea, it does look pretty fun. I already have my 2010 season pass so I'll be there to ride it
  19. This is part of the expansion as far as I know. It's in the parking lot so it should be ready for the 2010 season.
  20. It was confirmed by BamaTina, manager of DL/BB, on the SFNO forums. Can't post a link because I'm not using the comp. but if you want proof go to sfno.com, go to forums, and then go to the topic titled ''I spy...''. You can also go to the RCDB and look up Harvest Express Coaster and Dixie Landin' is shown as the new owner.
  21. At priestofsyrinx, I gotcha, Im just gonna be as optimistic as possible since we dont have a major themepark in LA, lol.
  22. They were approved for the first part, they are still waiting for the state or whatever. Yall arent very optimistic here at TPR.
  23. Finally, Ill have a theme park close to me again. I dont care what the park is , as long as its open. Also, they were approved for the Go Zone Bonds! Here's that news story: http://www.nola.com/business/index.ssf/2009/08/southern_star_amusement_grante.html
  24. Nickelodeon, Southern Star may revive Six Flags theme park http://www.wwltv.com/topstories/stories/wwl070809cbsixflags.1fb25dcb.html There ya go. I was just watching the news and there it was.
  25. New Update! Today N.O. won an injuction in the civil district court against SF. Also, they city was able to get a temporary restraining order preventing the removal of any more rides, and other stuff. Read about it here: http://www.nola.com/business/index.ssf/2009/05/city_granted_temporary_restrai.html There was also an interview with the city attorney talking about the winning of the injuction thing. I can post the link to that if anyone wants to hear it, if you reply to the update, just tell me so I can edit this post.
