  1. This park has so much potential. I'm satisfied that the 2015 addition is a flat (an inverting flat at that), which we need but there are so many more unique thrilling options that would definitely bring crowds. This is the same park with the worlds tallest coaster and the number 1 wooden coaster in the world and they are adding park mounted carnival rides?! That seriously makes no sense and knowing Six Flags this won't be ready until August 2015 because construction won't start until very late when this should be open by opening day. It's a carnival ride! Another thing that's really upsetting with Great Adventure is last years addition. Why even add a ride not knowing if it can run with the coaster. This wasn't in question at all during the planning stage? I'm literally disgusted with SF decisions lately. Thanks for listening to our crys of flats but this is Great Adventure, a park with a great reputation for world class rides not off the shelf carnival rides. If Gadv was sold to Cedar Fair this park would flourish beyond compare, the CP of the east coast. *end rant*
  2. Had an awesome time at Hurricane Harbor today. The park wasn't too crowded but most of the popular slides were 20-30 minute waits. Management is doing a great job with additions to the park. Tornado, King Cobra, and Big Wave Racer are all very popular with the general public. Personally I'd like to see a new body slide tower in the park, something similar to Bonzai Pipelines would be great.
  3. I worked Dragster at CP and Dark Knight at Gadv. Dark Knight basically ran itself so there wasn't really anything you could do to improve dispatch times because the cars moved continuously in the station. Dragster was a lot more hands on and I loved it. Our Team Lead made sure all team members knew that after safety, speed was the top priority. There was a pretty big crew over there too. 4 on load, 2 on unload, 1 for unload spieling, 1 for control panel, and 1 for launch control panel. That's 9 people on platform alone not including entrance, Fastpass, merge, and crowd. I don't think Gadv has enough employees to staff the coasters like Cedar Point does. Also it's a lot harder to get cross trained at Gadv than Cedar Point. At Cedar Point I was trained on Matterhorn, Dragster, Scrambler, and Dodgem within my first month. At Gadv I was at Dark Knight the entire year.
  4. That's amazing news! I've been waiting for Gadv to improve operations to this degree. I've had the pleasure of working at both Cedar Point and Gadv and the difference in operations is noticeable to say the least. It's exciting to hear Gadv now times their dispatches like Cedar Point does.
  5. I'm tempted to take a bucket of hot water, a scrub brush, and some elbow grease into the park just to clean the rust off of Nitro's station. I mean seriously how hard could it be to clean that?!
  6. ^So with a membership you aren't required to process in?
  7. ^Nor Easter is a great ride! I love everything about it. As for Bizarro being better than Batman, I agree. Batman being short and intense is great and the layout is perfect but Bizarro, especially in the front seat is just a better ride. After El Toro, Kingda Ka, and Nitro the rest of the coasters in the park all seem "meh".
  8. Late approval, Waiting on construction pieces, Indecisive management *cough* Six Flags *cough* There's a number of reasons something doesn't show up on the map but happens to be in the park. Furthermore, it is a path not a ride or shop. If they wanted to open it half way through the season just for the hell of it they could because they run the park, we don't.
  9. Last minute changes wouldn't be on the map. I guess we'll find out opening day and not from enthusiasts
  10. I think the path in between Golden Kingdom and Plaza Del Carnaval will open this season for many reasons. Anyone remember when the Tigers were inside Temple of the Tiger (Safari Discovers) and guests would gather along the defunct path in front of the glass? I think this is where the baboon viewing area will be similar to the chimpanzee exhibit at BGA. The park has a lot of baboons and I doubt they would add two or three to the park as an attraction. I'm not sure how much space these animals need but it would be a lot more entertaining if the entire inside part of Safari Discoveries was transformed into a play area for the baboons. This would make Seafari Theater it's own attraction using the Temple of the Tiger stadium. Also, there are rumors that Balins Jungleland will return this season which is along the path and across from the old tiger viewing area. Although the rides aren't there anymore besides the kiddie swings , the play structure, which is better than nothing is.
  11. The placement for PipeScream is just perfect!
  12. ^You seem to bash this park at every possible opportunity. There actually is the same support structure on the opposite side if you look closely and the track itself is orange to differentiate between Ka and Zumanjaro. It'll attract more riders this way and compliments the teal and green very well in my opinion.
  13. Wow, I thought I was the only one that felt that way about Kumba. I never understood all the praise it gets. I'd personally put Cheetah Hunt, Montu, and Sheikra before it. Then again El Toro's basically in my backyard which makes everything seem less intense.
  14. This has RMC written all over it. They're constantly outdoing theirselves and Im loving it!
  15. Definetely Kingda Ka, El Toro, and Nitro.
  16. How could we all be so blind?! It's obviously a tunnel so deep it goes directly into HELL hence the fire in the name! Or has that joke been made already
  17. Stand Up Dive Machine.. Called It!
  18. I wouldn't say Great Adventure is better looking than Cedar Point but it is a very beautiful park. The only area I think needs a great amount of improving is Movie Town. Great Adventure has the best coaster collection I've ever seen and the operations are always pretty good for the crowds they get. If the park were to add shows and more flat rides it would be light years above any other Six Flags park.
  19. Found this earlier in the thread. Seems pretty accurate seeing as though 2 of the 6 attractions mentioned are at/coming to the park. Must be the 5 year plan. Here's my predictions using this information. Bumper Kart Racing: One of the flats that will finally open Old Country back up. The Autobahn ride that used to be at the park has a permanent structure in Old Country and it would make a lot of sense to put the ride here. I doubt the park would change their current bumper cars ride program. I see this happening in 2015. Biggest Interactive Fun House: Not to sure with this one. My guess is this is the rumored Balins Jungleland renovation. I know they removed the play structure that used to be there so it's now a pretty big open plot of land. This would be a great addition for kids similar to Seaports Foam house. I see this happening in 2016. 3D Interactive Space Coaster: This one has me completely stumped. The way it's worded makes it seem like it'll be indoors but the park already has two indoor coasters so I doubt that. Another possibility is SF loose definition of "coaster" and it's actually an interactive dark ride which would be awesome for the park. I see this going in Chillers old footprint anchoring next years opening of Old Country. Anyone have any idea what kind of "coaster" this could possibly be?! Hyper Fast Steel Coaster: The coaster we've all been waiting for. Sounds a little like Maverick at CP or even Full Throttle at SFMM which is the only coaster type I see the park getting. Based on the location this will be Rolling Thunders replacement. What really excites me is the length and speed. I think this will start to expand the park toward the Safari/Baboon area. My guess on manufacturer is either Intamin, Mack, or Premier. I dont see this until 2017. This is just my guess on what these attractions could be and where they'd go. Nothing is written in stone and if this is actually the 5 year plan a lot could have changed from 2011 to now.
  20. I'd like to see more thrill flats. There's only 3 including Zumanjaro and thats only if you consider Skyscreamer thrilling. Also more shows. There's plenty of open venues.
  21. The rumor is that whenever a new coaster addition is added it will be on the east side of the park and NOT in RT's spot despite popular belief. I believe that spot is being saved for an expansion years away including the former baboon land in the Safari. As for next year, Im thinking RMC as that seems to be Six Flags' favorite coaster manufacturer currently or a B&M Coaster. Since the coaster is rumored to be on the east side near Batman/Nitro, I think a tall inverting RMC would work similar to Goliath at SF Great America. The B&M would either be a wing rider or a 4D. I've heard the 4D rumors but they don't add up seeing as though the first one was slated for a park in China or Spain. If they go with a wing rider, I just hop it's taller and faster than X-Flight
  22. Jersey Devil theme fits perfectly however the entire section around the coaster would have to be themed to Pine Barrens or "Demented Forest" which would make for some really cool flat rides if done right.
  23. This offseason is killing me so I came up with a wing rider design for the Chiller footprint. The layout is very poorly drawn so Ill explain it as best as I can. The ride would start in Chillers old station since it's just sitting there not being used with a turn to the right and a steep lift (Wild Eagle steep) so a lot of track can fit in a little bit of space. The height would top off around 120-150ft. as it looks like thats all that can fit behind TDK. The coaster will then maneuver into a wing over drop which saves a lot of room. After the wing over comes a very slight turn to the left and then a dive loop narrowly missing the station and exiting toward the Observatory. Up next is a zero g roll followed by giant flat spin as seen on Gatekeeper with the second half going through the observatory. Then a wide fan turn similar to Sheikra's final turn before the splash down will soar above guests walking underneath on the path. Finishing strong with an inline twist through the observatory once again and into the brake run, back into the station. Although this is a fairly short ride, the space provided is used well and because of the spacing the diameter of the inversions will need to be smaller than that of Gatekeepers or Wild Eagles making for a much more intense ride. Just an idea.
  24. I'm guessing the coaster will be taller than 330ft if the drop tower is actually planned for the face of the ride. It'd be pointless to have the newest tower shorter than the tower already at the park.
