I e-mailed CGA and here is there response to the name change to Afterburn and back to Flight Deck.Thank you for your interest in California's Great America. The name change from Flight Deck to Afterburn on our web site was a mishaps by our web designer. The ride name Afterburn is the new name for Carowinds ' Top Gun. At all the other Top Gun parks the name will be changing to Flight Deck. We hope this information helps you and we hope to entertain you in near future.

Well at least Carowinds' Top Gun is getting a half way decent name.
I still have no idea why on Earth CF named a ride Flight Deck. IMO, that is almost as stupid as naming a BTR clone Goliath.

I'm watching this news segment and they're talking about the "4-story waterfall", "laser gun", and "Nascar simulator", (among other semi-cool stuff) and I'm thinking, is a large demographic of people going to head to Memphis to play laser tag and watch a waterfall? We already have a Bass Pro, we don't need an upgrade. Especially not in one of our iconic buildings.
I agree. Why would I go to Memphis to look at a waterfall and play laser tag when I can go up to St. Louis and do the same thing? But I would drive four hours to go to a theme park in Memphis. I just hope the city council gives this some consideration.

All of the snow melted from yesterday . Good thing I'm supposed to be getting 6+ inches Thursday night/Friday morning.

DiGiammarco said the coaster, which opened at Six Flags in 2001, did have a lot of downtime initially.
“That was addressed when we first decided to purchase it,” DiGiammarco said.
She said the kinks have been worked out and the ride was down just 2 percent of the time last year.
“All of the flaws in the original design when it first premiered have been addressed, corrected, fixed,” DiGiammarco said.
Then why did they remove it???
Well if they fixed all the flaws, my guess would be to make room for a new attraction(s).

Lets see.....Three hours ago it was partly sunny and 60, two hours ago it was windy, cloudy and 45, one hour ago it looked like there was a blizzard outside and 30, and as of two minutes ago, it is 28 degrees, extremely windy (enough to pick up my trashcan and fling it 15 as I was trying to grab it) and clear with some snow on the ground. And to top it all off, I'm under a tornado watch.

The latest rumor about the MegaZeph train(s) showing up at the park claims that they may be planning on putting them to use on the Screamin’ Eagle. With Gerstlauers already in use on The Boss and Evel Knievel using CGI Millennium Flyers, the thought is that the maintenance crew may be trying to make the park PTC free.I don't know why they would want to replace the PTC trains. They seem to be running fine.
I honestly just hope that this is a rumor and nothing more.
