Had a similiar situation - a large container port is being built right down the street from Kemah - I lived in a house that would eventually have railroad tracks across the front yard. I bitched and moaned and tried to fight the Bayport expansion before they built anything - then, when it was apparent they would build it anyway, I moved. Complaining to the media does what at this point? It's there. It will stay.

I am not a coaster expert like so many on here, but here's my opinion... The Cyclone bored me. It was long straight stretches of hills and a bit of getting tossed around. This is nothing like it besides the 'made of wood' part. From the first drop on something is happening. On the second ride I still couldn't figure out where I was on the track at any given time... It's quite a rough ride in the back (the only place I rode)... I think I spent more time pressed up against the lap bar than on my seat. It is now my favorite roller coaster (this might ave something to do with distance from my house, but... That's ok) The first drop is great, and there are quite a few others where I felt I was gonna get launched... I just wish the rain had held off and I could have tried the front a few times....

Oops... rained out... I got 2 rides in - Hopefully many more tomorrow morning. I think I like it.

It's finally open this evening, and it's a blast! Heading back down there after a brief trip home...

Went by during lunch (yeah- it's only 40 minutes away from work - I can take that drive during my lunch hour) They were running them one after another while I was there... No people yet, but it looks like it will be a blast tonight. The real question will be - how many times do you think you can cycle through the line in an evening?

I've kinda thought that too. Most of the signs around town make no mention of what they are talking about, so most will be clueless. (Maybe better for the lines this weekend though?) But the big Boardwalk Bullet / Coaster Now open sign at the base of the Kemah Bridge kinda gets it's point across.

Passing Kemah today seeing the COASTER NOW OPEN billboard almost made me get in a wreck. I almost decided to skip work.... But... gotta make some money so i can afford to ride it this evening. See ya'll out there I'm sure.

I'm sitting here excited as can be - wondering if I'll even sleep tonight, and my wife is next to me rolling her eyes..... So.... Looks like I'll be riding with you guys... Can't wait! Good news good news!

I just drove by a few minutes ago and they are steadily working on the concrete out front- Looks like finishing work to me.... Hopefully we get to ride before Dean makes an unwelcome appearance....

Just had to sign up and tell everybody thanks for all the posts, pictures, videos and everything! Ya'll rock! I pass this thing everyday and the excitement has me bursting at the seams.... And trying to find news about any of it is next to impossible. I went by this morning and snapped some quick pics while I was there - I didn't realize that they had made great strides yesterday- I wondered why all the workers seemed to be in such a great mood this morning...
