  1. I actually remember riding Vekoma's Canyon Trip at Morey's Piers. It was a strange ride ... never inverted, but still had OTSRs. I think it only lasted a season or two, if I'm not mistaken.
  2. Thank you so much for this, Shane! Hersheypark is one of my favorite parks, so this update made my day. In my opinion, Hershey's one of those parks that still has some character to it. Thanks again!
  3. Great trip report! I'll actually be heading back out to Hersheypark at some point in September, so I'm pretty excited. Hershey is one of the nicer parks out there, in terms of atmosphere and cleanliness. Not to mention, they have a good selection of flat rides ... unlike some other parks in my area ::cough cough Great Adventure cough cough:: Personally, I loved Fahrenheit. It's just a fun coaster. The line was insane the last time I was there (as is expected, since it's a new coaster). Other than the complete lack of shade, the sprinklers annoyed me. They were just poorly placed, especially the sprinklers located in the back area of the queue, under the actual coaster itself. The sprinklers would spray water up into the nets located under the coaster track, the nets would catch most of the water and rain it back down onto the queue. Hersheypark's coasters aren't necessarily the most intense in the world, but they are a lot of fun. One of my favorite sounds would have to be hearing SDL go through the loop - it kinda has that Schwartzkopf roar to it. I remember when SDL used to be a lot better, before they trimmed it to death after the loop. The only drawback to the Schwartzkopf coasters is that I barely fit in them. I didn't get to ride the Comet the last time I was there (it was stuck on the lift), but I'm glad to hear that it feels like it's not trimmed. The Jonas Brothers concert was unfortunate. I can only imagine what the lines must have been like, surrounded by teenyboppers.
  4. Awesome TR! My family went to Wildwood every summer up until I was 10 years old, and this TR totally brought me back. I haven't been there in a few years, and it's funny to see how there are some things that have changed so much, but some things are just how I remembered. I'll have to get down there before the end of the summer. One of my favorite rides (which is no longer there) was the Jumbo Jet that stood in the spot where the Great Noreaster and those intertwined waterslides stand today. The Jumbo Jet had a huge elephant and Morey's Piers logo on top that you were always able to see from our hotel, and I would get SO excited when I'd see it from our balcony. The Jumbo Jet, Flyer, and Golden Nugget Mine (both located on what was, at the time, Hunt's Pier) were my first roller coasters. The boardwalk still looks like a lot of fun, but I still miss the boardwalk from the 80s. Dracula's Castle, Golden Nugget, Pirate Ship, Log Flume (with the huge lumberjack, on Hunt's Pier), Keystone Cops, etc., etc. Great TR though! I really enjoyed reading it!
  5. I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved Fahrenheit. Not only was it smooth, but you hit the elements one right after the other. While the ride doesn't look extremely intimidating, the compact design and the fact that the elements come one right after the other makes the ride more intense than I had originally expected. My favorite parts of the ride would have to be the exit of the Norwegian loop (and hill heading into the cobra roll) and the airtime hill towards the end of the ride. I went this past Saturday, so the line was pretty long; however, they were firing trains out consistently, so the line continuously moved. Unfortunately, by the 2nd time I rode it, they had moved to 2 train operation (I'm not sure why, as there was easily over an hour wait), so while the line was shorter, we still waited over an hour. Great, great ride.
  6. Agreed! Great TR! It actually motivated me to get myself over there today. Speaking of GASM, I don't know if it was just today or what, but the trims after the first loop were off, and we FLEW through the first half of the ride. I didn't think I'd notice that big of a difference with the trim off, but you can really tell when you hit loop 2, loop 3, and the uphill turn into the MCBR. Has anyone else that's been on GASM so far this season (last weekend and this one) noticed this? Overall, good day, the longest we waiting for anything was 10 minutes. Between the weather and the fact that I don't think a lot of people know the park is open already, the crowd level was pretty low.
  7. Hersheypark is about 2 - 2.5 hours from Philly, depending on how fast you drive
