I really like the looks of this. I'm guessing that RC ride is most likely a Vekoma Big Air. The entire area looks very creative and should be a huge hit with families.
Is there going to be a Toy Story 3D shooter aswell ?From the renderings and model it doesn't look like there is one, but it wouldn't surprise me if maybe they are planning one for a future upgrade to the new area.

I personally love being a ride operator and I do believe that it is as fun as it sounds. You picked the perfect ride to start out on too. Woodens are fairly easily operated, and it's not one of the more major rides so you won't have as much of crowds. My one word of advice, follow all rules given to you, don't get lax. Things can happen at any time on a ride, just pay close attention to everything and don't loose focus. Other than that, just have fun with it. Greet each geust with a smile and a wave, and you will have a terrific day!

I don't know yet if I have to work all day or not on Carowinds' opening day. If I only have to work closing then I can meet up for a few hours before having to head in for my shift. Otherwise, I'll be sure to just keep an eye out for you when you come to ride Intimidator and just say hi or something.

Seriously? The child was in a stroller, it's not that hard to just push it around with you to go hunt down your baby's mama. I hate people like this, they give the rest of the human population a bad name. I officially nominate this man for a Darwin award.

Wow, well the drop itself was kind of expected, but the extra simulator style movement is a nice touch. This should create a pretty neat ride experience.

This sounds really interesting. Has it been announced what park he will be working at during the episode?

Hmmmm.
My top three:
Arrow Dynamics
Premier Rides
Maurer Sohne
Amen sir, amen. Though I would have to slip in B&M and PTC into the mix as well. You know, my number 1 coaster is Maverick, but I STILL don't get all the love that Intamin gets.

My call is that the picture is real. I highly doubt someone would go through all the trouble of rendering the picture with this level of details. If you look close enough, you can tell that the headlights on the car are actually flat sticker decals. Also you can see the shadow from the front left wheel assembly on the ground behind that car. Final thing, you can see the reflection of the ground and a bit of the track on the front of the car. If I am correct and this is a real car on this coaster, then we know it will probably have on-ride audio, see the speaker between the front 2 seats.
This is looking so good, I definitely have to get to this park someday.

First Park: SFOG
First Coaster: Goliath
First in park food: foot-long chili cheese dog w/ fries
First new Coaster: Intimidator
First new Park: possibly Wild Adventures

^Errr, wrong, Carowinds is 170ft not 150, and SFOG's doesn't even take you all the way to the top.
^^That is true on Mindbender and Ninja, but the rest of them were perfectly fine.
I blame the single train operations on the fact that it was just opening day and all of the ride ops were taking their dear sweet time dispatching trains anyways. Here's to hoping things will speed up and run better later in the year.

^^ You obviously didn't see my post in the preview thread did you, or was that sarcasm?
Thanks for all the nice comments!
I'm just going to edit this post to make a quick update.
Featured tonight, the European themed area of the park. I use the term "European" kinda loosely. I'm not really good at doing European architecture with RCT2, especially with the surprisingly limited selection of scenery objects I put into this map. Anyways, shoving that out of the way, onto some pictures.
Those of you who saw my post in the preview thread have already seen this exact same screenshot. Sorry, I was too lazy to take another shot. The buildings have been dressed up a bit more from this though, as was suggested to me. I will cover this ride in particular next update.
Tonight's star: Loch. A water coaster themed to the Loch Ness Monster.
...
Thanks for looking! Psst, if I get enough comments I will release a very early sneak peek at the Mexican section of the park.

^I've been thinking about adding a couple more supports in a few places as well. I'll try out your idea for a color scheme and I'll post a picture of it and then I'll let all the viewers decide on which color option stays.

This is a new park that I have recently started out of boredom. For those of you who have seen my last post in the preview thread, you already know what this park is based on. For those of you that haven't, this park is based on Cryptozoology, or the study of unidentified creatures. Currently the plans are to have 4 themed sections in the park, United States, Mexico, Canada, and Europe. I am working on a fairly small map so these plans might change.
Please note, this park is still a work in progress and things are liable to change at any given moment.
This update: United States. Current completion in section, about 80%. Only 1 attraction and a few landscaping touch-ups left until the area's completion. Enjoy the pictures!
The entry plaza with a McDonald's and The Observatory, an Intamin observation tower. The empty area is for a later attraction.
A small view of the rest of the area.
This is the Crypto Museum. A small museum of cryptozoology. It also features a large theater showing a Documentary on the subject.
Big Foot, the park's GCI wooden.
A look at the rest of the layout.

Whoa, nice article. I had no idea that was what the original boats looked like on Carowind's rapids. Thanks for the great read!
^^^ I personally have the feeling that riding something only for the sake of getting wet is very pointless. Now if the ride has other fun redeeming qualities, I'm perfectly fine even if I get soaked. I will normally give rapids at least 1 ride to determine if they are any good. If they are good (Carowinds) I will continue riding, but if they are bad (Kali River) I will never ride them again.

^^To answer your question on Arrow seat belts, if your restraint were to pop up, the seat belt can only extend about 6-7 inches meaning it would stop the harness from popping all the way up and thus keeping you under the harness. In other words, it works the exact same as one of B&M's seat belts, just it's stored inside the seat instead of on the outside.
-
I had no idea that place had a Moser spring tower, and indoors too! I don't understand why those things aren't more popular when it comes to FECs. They give great rides and really don't take up much space at all. Oh well, thanks for the great pictures. I'll have to keep this place in my mind for whenever I finally get around to do a midwest trip.
-
Yay! Now Gwazi will surely be good for everyone. This is very exciting news. It gives me a really good reason to try to get back to the park soon.
-
I'm BAAAaaaaack! This time though, I actually have a park with a name. The theme is to Cryptozoology, the study of unknown or strange animals. The park will be split into a few themed sections. So far I'm developing United States, Europe, and Mexico. That's all I'm going to reveal until I start a thread on it. Now a couple shots to get you hyped.

^ Most of us ride ops know better than to leave a restraint at only 3 clicks on someone. I so far have never ridden a B&M hyper where the restraint isn't stapled to me. I normally sit slouched a little to give myself at least 1 click of breathing room during the ride. I don't think any of us are dumb enough to let a skinny person ride at only 3 clicks. If we do though, it's the employee's fault for not checking the restraint properly.
Going back to the seat belt issue, the hyper seat belts only cut back an additional two clicks at the most, so a really skinny person can still wiggle out even with the seat belt. The hyper seat belts are probably the most pointless things I've ever heard of. They are really thin so they break easily too.

Well, I just found one of what I was thinking of. I don't know if it's the same thing you were thinking of or not, but here's the video:
It's located in Mieders, Austria. I wish I could find the other one again though because the entire place it is at is pretty cool.
-
I know exactly what you are talking about. I have seen the video of it several times on youtube, sadly I have forgotten the name of the place. I do know it's at a ski resort in Europe and they have a couple other rides there like a giant zipline and giant swing. I will keep looking for it and hopefully I will find it as it is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
The ride itself is a single rail you ride down much like on Steeplechase at Alton Towers. This thing has about 4 tunnels all with decently sized drops and if you don't use the brakes too much, you can reach about 45-50 mph on it.

This is quite interesting. If it works, we all need to lobby together to get CP to do this to Mean Streak. I'm very curious as to how all this will work out. It is a shame that it will no longer be a true wooden coaster, but at least it should give a much better ride now than it has in the past. Also, is it just me, or did the guy in the video a few pages back say that the first drop is going to be 79 degrees? If so, then awesome!
-
I have my money down for a zero-g roll and maybe a splash down. Or how about this, they are going to redesign the entire thing using toothpicks and bubble gum!

The new pen is so amazing! I...Must...Have...One... Is it the 15th yet?

That's just 1 part of the queue line... Wow, forget Dueling Dragon's old queue! If the rest of the queue is as beautiful as this, then we have a new winner for best queue line! Please, please tell me this is going to be open when I'm there in May. Tomorrow's announcement can't come soon enough.
