  1. Long Beach Pike - Cyclone Racer Magic Mountain - Colossus before the Camel Hump was removed and the ride ops actually RACED the coaster, Revolution before the OTSR's were added. Kings Island, opening day of the Beast. And who wouldn't want to go back to opening day @ Disneyland? Yeah, I know, in retrospect it was a bit of a fiasco, but historically it was the most significant day in theme park history.
  2. Theoretical- maximum # of Collossus trains, 10 (2 tracks, station, lift, p-lot brake block, end brake block, brakes waiting to enter station). Funny thing is the reason given for replacing the camel hump with a brake run was to increase capacity yet I've never seen a full compliment of trains on the tracks since they butchered the thing. I wish you all could have ridden her in her glory days w/ a full compliment of trains, the camel hump, and trains actually racing - what a beautiful coaster she used to be! Collossus - I'll let someone else guess - seems like I saw it run with 8 before the camel hump was removed but that was a LONG time ago - could be wrong. Z-force - correct! General admission let you ride all the rides w/o ticket books - correct! Monorail - no, but it's a trick question. The key word here is "loading". You could only get off @ the summit. In the movie, what song did Spinal Tap play @ the amphatheater?
  3. Hmmm... Don't know the station names, but both went from the top of Samurai summit in the pagoda building nearest Superman. One went down to where Freefall is (building is next to the que) and the other went down to basically the base of the Superman tower. What did Ninja replace?
  4. Olympic training ride: Roaring Rapids Processing Center: Once the que area for Mountain Express. Tower: Was originally built to advertise the Valencia housing development. A couple of easy ones; What ride did Batman replace? How many loading platforms did the monorail have? On opening day, what could you do with a general admission ticket that you couldn't do at DL or KBF? Edit: -Theoretical- maximum # of Collossus trains, 10 (2 tracks, station, lift, p-lot brake block, end brake block, brakes waiting to enter station). 5. I wonder if maybe everyone has missed the point of what Discovery is trying to do. The letter said it was a project about the "race to build" the coaster - not about the coaster once it's finished. To me, that says that they'll focus on the decision making process, the design, the construction, the behind the scenes politics, etc. You may not see ANY on-ride footage, although they'll likely use that as the fianle` to the program. Frankly I think that's great! We rarely get to see all the elements that go into the design or a coaster - it's usually confined to maybe a computer rendering and some hand waving by the lead designer and then it's off to the coaster to see some yahoo go on and on about how it's the greatest thing since sliced bread mixed in with a lot of unitelligable, largely staged grunting while they cut back and forth between the on-ride and rider footage. As far as my interpretation of the letter goes - it's got to be Everest in DAK. Even if the coaster itself turns out to be a dud as a "thrill ride", the design and planning o this coaster will just absolutely blow away any other project out there.
  6. Robb; I haven't been to SFMM to see the construction markings first hand, but I can provide a little construction insight. Your picture that shows C 6.4 is a cut - that point will come down 6.4 feet during grading. Conversely, the flag strapped to the handrail next to the tower says F 1.7 (something like that) - that's a fill. Not sure if they're filling the water feature there or if it's from the top of concrete - either way, it's getting filled 1.7 feet. Does that help clarify the picture any?
