  1. OK, I know that I am probably in the minority, but can I play devil's advocate for just a sec? If something, God Forbid, happened to a child who was under 42 inches, while on this ride, then the ones that are so disapproving of this height restriction would be singing a different tune...including you Robb. I Love TPR, and everything you guys do, and all the information that you provide to us, but the ride is not even built yet. ...and, Robb, I know you have the inside track to Jay and a host of others in the Coaster industry, but for god sakes, let them at least build the coaster first. Everyone thinks, "Oh nothing could happen" or "The Height Restriction is stupid and unnecessary", but the fact of the matter is that things DO happen. Accidents DO occur, regardless that there is the "same" coaster 60 miles away. Whether you like Six Flags or not, or think Six Flags sucks or not, I am sure that Six Flags is not imposing this restriction to intentionally piss everyone off. To not support the ride just seems unproductive to me, especially since there are kids that may be able to ride it and are GOING to ride it whether you support it or not. We weren't always tall enough to get on every ride when I was coming up, and we still had fun...we just waited until next year when we could ride. Stupid or not, there must be a reason why they put 42" as the Height to ride. ...and I say again (before I am drawn and quartered) I love TPR, the Site, the information and everything you (Robb & Elissa) do.
  2. No, It's all good, and I agree with you that many people get all complain-y whenever a new coaster is announced. I would never want to appear like I was coming off that way. As long as we are getting a new coaster, I am happy. I am just jealous, I guess. I love SFMM so much that I got a job there. ...and every coaster that you mentioned, I ride ALL THE TIME. I just wish I could ride Toro, Kingda, Nitro & MF all the time too. When you get to SFMM next Summer to ride "Terminator", Stop in for a Funnel Cake.
  3. I really wasn't complaining. I really wasn't. It's just that as much Love as I have for SFMM, and you are right in many respects, Coming from Los Angeles and growing up in this park, I want it to be the best. All of us have different opinions as to what roads the park needs to take, and I could not be happier with the fact that we are getting a new coaster. That is really enough for me. We are all pretty passionate about our beliefs, and in hoping and wanting SFMM to be the best park EVER, and I was just voicing my, obviously un-popular, opinion. ...and with "El Toro"being my favorite Wooden Roller Coaster, I just wish it could be closer to home, and not all the way in New Jersey. But hey, that is what frequent Flier Miles are for...Yes?
  4. Of Course SFMM is competing! You DID hear that were trying to close the park a few years back, Yes? But that is not really the point. My point was that Cedar Point has Stand-out Rides. Great Adventure has Stand-Out Rides. With the exception of "X2", There is really nothing that STANDS out at Magic Mountain. ...and I LOVE Magic Mountain. Every Six Flags has a "Bat Man". You can find "Goliath" (in some from or other) in at least 3 other parks. ..and though I Love "Goliath" a lot, does it "compete" with "Nitro" or "Ride of Steel". "Scream" and "Medusa" are identical (save for the Parking Lot Spaces vs. The Greenery), 5 or 6 "Deja Vu's" in many parks and ditto on "Viper". Besides X2, we have little to "Compete" with Millennium Force, or Top Thrill, or Kingda Ka, or Maverick, or The Superman's (Not Escape) that are pretty much ALL on the West Coast. Even the Flying "Superman" is at Great Adventure and "Tatsu" is just a Bigger Version of that. So wishing for a "West Coast El Toro" is not outside of the realm of positive thinking.
  5. When I heard "Wood" 3 months ago, but saw that it wasn't Intamin AG that was Designing this Coaster, I have to be honest, I was a bit crushed, because Magic Mountain NEEDS a West Coast "El Toro". We have lost A LOT of ground to Cedar Point & Great Adventure. But A New Coaster is a New Coaster, and I am just happy that we don't have to wait until 2010.
  6. Sorry...One More thing. I don't think Magic Mountain has to convince the General Public of ANYTHING other than there is a new Roller Coaster at Magic Mountain. The only credibility (if any) that the park may or may not have lost on X2 is with Snobby Coaster Enthusiasts that had nothing more to complain about. X2 is the most popular coaster at Magic Mountain. Trust me, I sell Funnel cakes to People for an HOUR after the park is closed, and the GREAT majority of those people are coming from X2. People are STILL going to ride X2, no matter if they think it is X or not. ...and if the people that are complaining about it DON'T like X2, then they never liked X, and they can go ride another ride. People are STILL going to ride "Terminator" no matter if they think is is Psyclone or not. The people that go to Magic Mountain on a regular basis KNOW that there is NO Roller Coaster next to Deja Vu, where there once was one. ...and the people that don't go that often or the out-of-towners are not going to know the difference. No-one is going to say "Oh My God, There is a Wooden Roller Coaster back here called "Terminator" and I simply will NOT ride it, because it should be Steel" or "I know that the sign on this Roller Coaster says "Terminator", but I am still a bit confused as to whether it is REALLY that OTHER Roller Coaster called "Psyclone". Magic Mountain is NOT going to lose ANY money on adding this coster, naming this coaster "Terminator", or the confusion that ensues over WHICH coaster this really is, or what it is made of.
  7. I agree with Saxman. If Two more Million gets an "El Toro" in California, then I say Bring it ON! Sadly to say though, it is too late, and honestly, I don't think there is room for an "El Toro" sized Coaster at Magic Mountain. I think "Deja Vu" should have been moved to where "Flashback used to be, and then our new "Terminator Coaster" could really stretch out. But what is done is done. I don't care that it is a wooden coster that has the Terminator name. IT is a new Coaster at the park where I grew up and that I still love. A new Coaster is a new Coaster and no matter how much you all complain about Theming, or Wood vs. Steel or Names or if the park keeps it up or whatever else, You will still be in line like the rest of us waiting to ride it. and if you don't like it, there are plenty of other rides you can ride and have just as much fun. ...and if need be, you can fly to other Six Flag Parks (WITH THEME PARK REVIEW, no doubt) and ride all the rides you love. It is THAT easy!
  8. Whats with the blue polos? Did wardrobe run out of the yellow ones or something :lol Running Low is the story. Hey Robb, Thanks for Posting the Pic of Me & Nancy. (Even though my right eye looks all freaky) Stop By the Funnel Cake Shop next time you are at the Park, and I promise we will break your $100 Bill. and what ARE you people talking about??? All that wood is for the new flooring at Moose Burger! New Coaster??? It's Craziness!!! But I will say that the rumor I HAVE heard is that Superman the Escape will be rounded off at the top making it positively Kingda-Ka-ish. Rumored Name: S2. SHHHHHH!
  9. Hello There I am Eric from Los Angeles. I work for the Cruise Industry as a D.J. with Princess Cruises, so I have been on about 150 Coasters all over the world. I haven't been on as many Coasters as alot of you guys, but I am trying to catch up. I have been coming to your site, Rob, for about a year, and I think it is an AMAZING place to get Coaster Info. Keep up the GREAT work.
