  1. On many coasters, the brakes cycle to keep the speed of the train under control. I think that on ThunderBird, it is the brake fins dropping and raising in preparation for the launch. In the video I saw today, the sound is heard as the train moves onto the launch segment.
  2. Logo on trailers seems to say POWER GENERATION something. Could be that they are having problems with the flywheels? Other than that, I'm clueless.
  3. Looks like next week should be good weatherwise...temps going up into 50's and 60's.
  4. Seems I read that at the last Holiwood Nights the boats were still inside the building. Could be that the tower is somewhere offsite in storage until the problems are figured out??
  5. Being an IT person, I can tell you that moving a web camera does not take place in an instant. I don't know the way HW has set up this camera, but there is cable, power, and a mounting to deal with and that takes time to move and setup. I'm sure that Paula will make every effor to keep us as satisfied as she can, given the physical aspects of the webcam. Just give it a little time, it is a construction site after all.
  6. This may have no relation to SFMM, but over the weekend I went to my local SF park (SFStL) and noticed survey markings at the end of Mr. Freezes tunnel. ASked a friend who works in Operations about it and found out that both of the freeze coasters are being considered for retrofit from LIM to Launched systems as the cost of electricity is getting prohibitive these days. Could mean that Superman will go from LIM launched to cable launched next year. NO proof other than that, but a possibility?
  7. Finally got the link, but it took going to my work and applying there as Comcast, my provider at home, was blocking TPR all day due to excessive traffic going to TPR. Their system flagged TPR as a spammer and spyware target and blocked it. Got this information today when TPR was back and working thru Comcast. I love the DVD and would like to do something nasty to my local Comcast tech department, but don't know just how bad I want it to be...
  8. I've seen this label on track before. Sometime around 2003-2004 or so I saw it on track parts headed for a park in the Central US. The difference that could make this wrong is, back then the labels were not on steel track.
  9. I'm not sure if it was 1984 or 1985, but King Cobra DID derail due to a problem with one of the wheel assemblies. I remember this because it happened not too long after the fatal accident at SFoMA (now SFStL) and the news media were condemming the new "stand-up" craze. BTW, SFStL's standup was an Arrow attempt and NOT a Togo.
