I watch both religiously. I enjoy the antics of the "music videos" (as well as the sometimes strange selection of music) and that can also help me decide what to tackle on an overseas trip (since Australia's a bloody long way from everything). I do like in these videos the sense of scale from aerial or whatever shots of the coasters and also appreciate some footage of the dark/cinematic rides.
I enormously appreciate the raw coaster footage of the coasters as well though, particularly of the coasters I have personally been on, since it helps to give friends and family some semblance of the ride.
I and my son planned our first States trip last year (mid-point Cedar Point passing through Hawaii, Las Vegas, Orlando (Disney/Universal/Busch Gardens), New York and Japan (Nagoya/Tokyo) based a lot on the contents of some of these discs.
