Yeah, if they do that i'll just smash the place up. Loggers is such a good ride, I would be upset if they did. -

It's now owned 100% by Tussauds. They bought the rest of it from Universal last year. -

It would be a smaller scale 4D. You can believe me or not on this, your choice.# -

For Thorpe 2009, I hope it's a Flyer, but noone knows. My source who knows a few people high up, says it could be a 4D. -

DIC, a multi million pound company, Merlin, maybe a few billion. I'm annoyed, as I would have liked to keep DIC in it, but at the 20% it has now, I I'm still not happy.[/code] -

I hope not. One thing I would not like to see is a Vekoma coaster for 2009. I think it would ruin the skyline, but who knows what we might get for 2009. [Thorpe, i'm talking about] Alton may be something totally different. -
The Official "Southport is Closing" Thread
sebo replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm new here, I only know TPDave though! Flicking through this fortnights Private Eye, saw this: Unfair Ground So farewell then the Southport Pleasureland which closed this autumn, after the introduction of an entrance charge in 2005 which saw annual visitors drop from 2.5 million to 500,000. Fairground fans have cried conspiracy, with many believing that the decline and sudden closure of the 84 year old Pleasureland has been deliberate - and certainly little effort has been made to preserve it. Sefton Council which owns the site and leased it to the fair, isn't looking for a buyer to take on the fair as a growing concern, but wants future use to "complement" its other seafront developments. The council has grand plans to market Southport as a classy upmarket resort. Meanwhile, the fair's owner, Blackpool Pleasure Beach (BPB), also runs the rival attraction up the coast. While newer attractions are being moved to Blackpool, the greatest local upset has been over the wooden rollorcoaster Cyclone, which has been part of Southport skyline since 1937. Just days after the fairground closed in September, men with chainsaws were seen on the Cyclone, cutting the tracks, although most of the rollorcoaster has not yet been demolished. However the chainsawing served to wreck an attempt by campaigners to get the ride listed building status. English Heritage was refused entry by BPB, but compiled a report anyway, concluding that although the Cyclone is one if the nine historic Rollorcoasters surviving in Britain, " ongoing demolition since closure in early September 2006 has seen much of the south east side demolished and this continuing demolition, along with the rebuilding of the station and part of the structure, means that a listing recommendation cannot be justified for this rollorcoaster." No plan for the 30 acre council owned site has been announced yet, but Sefton has already been developing the rest of the sea front with plans for a £30m hotel complex and "Dunes Splash World", an indoor water park. These will join the cinema, bowling alley, pet food superstore and Matalan already developed on the sea front. Conspiracy? All typed by me. 20 minutes!!! -
