  1. On the Universal website it says that express passes are 'subject to availability', is this simply a marketing ploy or do they actually run out? If they don't run out, I'll just try to see how busy the area is the day before we go to IOA and then decide whether we'll need it. Thanks for your super-fast replies!
  2. Hi All, I'm visiting Florida for the first time and am devoting one day to IOA and another to Busch (is it possible to drive from IOA to Busch and back in one day?), my girlfriend and I are staying at the Hyatt near Universal during the last week of this November - probably going to hit IOA on Tuesday the 27th. I've been looking at buying a one park, one day express pass for $22 each. Will this be worth the extra money during the last week of November? Keeping in mind that for The Hulk and Dragons, I'll be riding alone and in the single rider line. Is there an express pass or similar ticket for Busch? Thanks! I am very excited...
  3. One of the criteria for the buyout is that the current management team stay. So obviously, the board has total faith and is happy with them. It is not a submissions that they are doing a bad job.
  4. As 'Ginzo' said, public companies going private is very popular at the moment. This move does not mean Cedar Fair are in trouble, in fact, probably the opposite. They simply want to go private to avoid the expense and inconvenience of being a public company. Which includes having to report everything to everyone and being forced to focus on short term goals and profits; to get the best shareholder returns straight away. Private companies can have long term strategies and don't have shareholder returns as their number 1 priority, instead they have the long term growth of the business as their priority. Usually private companies are more profitable than public ones.
  5. Do you think Germany is a third-world country? There are ATM's all over the place, in fact, it is probably more technically advanced and convenient than America. As for your ATM card...ask your bank, you may be liable for hefty fees each time you withdraw money. In such case, you should get a different, international card.
  6. TTD has six trains?! Are there any pictures of when all six are running?
  7. Can someone tell me why some parks only run one train on their popular coasters? I've heard that SFMM are serial offenders. This doesn't make any sense to me - once the coaster is built and the trains paid for, why not use the asset to its full capacity? I can only think of positive effects that running two (or more) trains would have; lines would be shorter and move faster and guests could get through more rides during their time at the park = happy guests that return to the park and spread good word of mouth. Running extra trains wouldn't be more costly, would it? It's not like they use fuel or anything that costs. The only reason I can think of is that the park might need more ride operators, which would obviously cost more. Any explanations would be welcome... On average, how many trains do the big parks run on their popular rides? ADMIN EDIT: Moved to Donkeys forum, it didn't seem like it belinged in 'Ask Alvey'
  8. How do I get to this shortcut?! I'm only going to be at SFMM for one day (I'm from Australia) and I'm thinking of heading to Tatsu first... Do you know which rides are not included on the Flash Pass list? If Tatsu and X are on the list - how long are the waits with a Flash Pass? Thanks
  9. Are the schools out wed, thurs and friday? Do you think Friday (I've heard its a big shopping day) or Sunday will be better? Is there Football on the Sunday?
  10. Hi Everyone, I'm going to be in California from the 22nd of Nov until the 5th of December, I'm from Australia and this will be my first trip to SFMM. Can you give me some advice on whether or not it is a good idea to visit the park on the day after thanksgiving, or on thanksgiving? Because in Australia we do not celebrate thanksgiving, I'm not sure of how it all works and I figure this could be great and the park will be empty, or it could back-fire and it will be packed! Other than those two days, when would be the best day to visit? The park is open from the 22nd until Sunday the 26th, and then again on Sat and Sun the 2/3rd. Also, on a tangent, can someone explain the reason Deja Vu is so popular? It seems to me to be the same as many other coasters (such as 'Boomerang - Coast to Coast), except inverted. It can't be a very long ride, and it doesn't seem like a very thrilling layout. I think there must be something about it that I am missing. Thanks for your help! James james@sandersventures.com.au
