due to the height graph its not an immlemann but a dive loop. Immlemann would be going forward low, pulling up into a half loop and twisting to level at the top. This is if I read layout right a tall hill that at the top has a barrel roll that continues upside down again and then pulls down (up to riders) into a dive loop. Very easy to do high up in the air. Low speeds and low forces if you do it right. Watch full throttle dive into the tunnel. Very similar element

I have big expectations for this rides capacity. I love 2wide trains but hope they are very very long. Long trains create more forces and more varity of forces based on seats. I hope it has near record length trains for capacity and ride quality. I love the hanging feeling in the front of a long train, forces in the back, and sight of a long train esp. In an inversion. Since this will clearly be the most popular ride in the park... and most likely only two train operation I expect some insane cue lines if it uses short trains.

I agree woodies dont need new tech or gimmicks to be awesome. Eagle, viper, and hellcat are all in my top ten coasters. Eagle is a classic that marked the final reign of a woodie for height and speed. It was a perfect envelope pusher. Viper is a famous clone executed to perfection. And hellcat is jamming an epic ride in a tiny footprint. The thing is you have to accept some things are here to stay and some fall by the wayside too soon. Standup coasters were a fad. Btr was the first suspended coaster and is the most copied and cloned ride anywhere. People always want to copy the new fad in coasters. If people want a gimick or two then fine... as long as they dont interrupt ride pacing or forces. People want to bring back cutting edge tech to woodies and I say awesome...as long as form follows function. An epic coaster has great forces, pace, and well placed elements within its land footprint. I am super excited for this ride, and think it might give good argument for removal of a few rides in the future. I also really do hope we eventually get a gforce machine in the form of a mega launch coaster or a mega looper of some sort. The park really had an awesome chill factor when shockeave was up front and no ride in the park is as fear inducing. No other ride had quite so much going on. So many elements so much speed and such an awesome appearance in one ride was a huge loss we are still trying to replace. We really do need rides that are awesome because they push the limits but if they dont have an awesome park buzz creating presence, awesome pace and great forces... they really are not what our park needs. I can make a strong argument that btr is the most intense ride in the park. While we have added many great rides since 2002 I think our park is really less intense than it was in 2001-2002.

I keep looking at the space availavble and Ive realized a few tough choices they had to make.. Either a crazy tight twisting multi inversion beast or a launched wooden coaster are the most likely possibilities. It makes me happy we wont have an el toro type clone because bull is similar style and theme and space restrictions. Airtime twisters arent my thing. This could be the most twisted extreme wooden coaster ever! If not then it almost certainly is a launched - and the first of its kind.

Everyone seems to rule out the fastest wooden coaster record. Eagle on 127 ft hill 147ft drop on ancient tech does 66. If you have a monstrously long train and a lift chain moving fast you can have a train moving 10+mph over the hill. With a near vertical 175 foot drop and 10mph head start 74mph is easily doable. Plus there are also launch or boost possibilities. You never know. What theyll incorporate these days. Who knows... Ive always wanted a high speed dual speed lift hill to "throw" a train over the first hill. And technically you could include a lim launch or boost system in a wooden coaster, it just has never been done.

I'm going to throw this out there.... What about the return of a Vekoma Giant Inverted Boomerang or other Vekoma coaster? It was taken out to disapproval -- I was there six times when it was standing and never got to ride it once. Its mechanical problems were great, and nobody really knew why they removed it and replaced it with BB. Think about the theme of the latest teaser video. --There are two "impacts" such as the two towers/drops, In every scene there are blue/green colors that match Deja Vu, "David" looks at the blue/green corkboard wall after the punch clock scene... Deja Vu had awards (the display case) and one of the Deja-Vu rides was named Goliath after it was moved and re-themed. The throwback maps (there are at least 5 in the teaser video) all had Deja Vu on them... and the only "new" map had the spot that is survey flagged marked area is in the park covered up, and yes, this spot would fit several Vekoma coaster styles. Also This would require a height variance and be around 160 Ft tall, and would have almost ZERO fear of being turned down since a similar ride was there in the past.

This also means the seats are off to the side of the track... and that the train is tilted slightly (less than / type of angle) This leaves the top left and bottom right of the image open -- even with a full wingrider/4d train in the image. Since the logo is in the bottom right, that means any relevant text will be in the top left.

I don't see Dollywood getting a wing rider... I just don't see it. If the rumors of 220 foot tall very massive coaster are true, I don't see it being a wing rider... at least not the type that we're thinking of. Maybe some weird airtime machine or ground hugging machine that has seats off the end, but not a wingrider like we're talking about it.... I don't think B&M would nearly double the height after just one ride is completed.... On the other hand... Our limited space, and need of a new thrill ride really does fit perfectly for a wingrider concept. Something 125 foot range, and you have the perfect amount of energy to use in that space. Who says this says "one of the first? Maybe this says one of the most thrilling places in the world... or one of the most exciting places in the world proudly presents.... X-flight! Also realistically, what are the chances this could be an updated wingrider or a 4d? I mean seriously, it is called X-flight

Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread

Haven't seen that post before, lol.... And I didn't say out of room.... I should explain that on other sites I often post about how I LOVE when custom designed coasters are squeezed in places you didn't think a big ride would fit. Look at how all three coasters at Mt. Olympus are entangled... its REALLY cool. I would love for some ride to tangle with another coaster, but I don't see that happening due to fear of flying objects (idiots cameras). That plus SF opting for cheaper rides that are often pre-fab or cookie cutter rides means they won't have this option. That's why I said they would have to remove something (ie: classics). -
Maybe that's why I don't like bull... I don't hold on to the restraint, and I'm not hands in the air... I rest my arm on the darn thing.... Bull tends to shake you around a bit so my hand slides off/around on the restraint.... Since I'm starting to like airtime and high bank turns a lot more maybe I can get the guts to ride bull hands up.... That would be a game changer for me.

You miss the point... Since 2002 We've lost 12 inversions, and we're gaining three, maybe four... with no more room left in the park. You could put a zacspin where wolf is, but that is zero inversions (technically). So... I guess my point is that while I still see good things in store for SFGAM... they will now come at a very high price. The next big coaster they add will have to be at the price of losing Demon/whizzer. After that point there is NOTHING expendable that would fit a big coaster. The park will almost certainly never remove American Eagle, Raging bull, superman, batman, or viper. There is no other place in the park for a coaster. On the other hand... you guys are getting a coaster at the cost of skull mountain... but you have lots of room to expand! Even if SFGAM does get a wingrider (still unsure) I'm picturing that as being another (as one poster put it) "superman ultimate fluff" with few forces and short ride time. For a G-forces fan... that isn't very exciting. -
I figured someone would ask about the restraints thing. I'm a big time positive G-forces fan... still learning to like the airtime as much. I think it's because whizzer was my first coaster (this was in 00 or 01) and bull was my second.... The restraints on bull have never felt right to me... I don't ride with my hands up, and hanging on to that restraint with one hand just feels weird.... I guess its because you can't rest your arm on it the same way you can the bar on eagle or viper, it just feels weird.... Not sure how to describe it. On a wooden coaster, or on a OTSR I forget the restraint is there... on bull it seems to constantly remind me it's there... and I don't like it.

Decided to drop in here to try to maybe cheer some of you guys up. First... let me vent so you guys know where I sit as a SFGAM coaster fan. I don't know why you guys seem to imply SFGAM is spoiled... YES we have had a lot of things installed in the last ten years, but enthusiasts really don't (for the most part) enjoy the majority of what they've done in the last ten years. Let me put it this way... if you guys has HH, riptide bay, buccaneer battle, TWO wild mouse coasters, and a few flats added... would you really be happy? Yes we have superman ultimate flight... but really that was the only REAL coaster we got (I'm a coaster fan, I don't ride flats, and there are much cheaper, better, closer water parks). So would you be happy if you lost your most extreme coaster, replaced it with an equal or lesser coaster, and then added TWO wild mouse coasters, a splash battle... and waterpark? Would you then consider your park "spoiled"? They also removed another coaster to place that silly splash battle $8 million dollars... thats half a B&M! Plus the fortune they spent building the water park, removing the motion simulator, moving the go-carts, etc. And now this... why I hope you guys really realize that we're right there with you... frustrated, tired, and really doubting the management.... But you guys gain something we lose (to again be replaced by NOTHING). Iron wolf is a great coaster... yes it needs new trains, but they'll give it new trains when you guys get it and you'll LOVE it. I'm actually really sad they're taking out wolf. Yes I know its not popular because the restraints suck, but its a B&M that I have been saying needed TLC since 2004, and because it got a bad rap because of the restraints, we're losing a classic ride that was one of our few loopers. Great america will now have a grand total of 11 inversions total on all its coasters (3 loopers). In 2002 great america had 21 inversions. Yes, I know you're assuming we're getting something grand and awesome.... but with no height clearance from the village of Gurnee, it will be under 125 feet tall, and will likely not have many inversions.... PLUS this is our last PRIME coaster spot. Wolf's footprint is so small that a big coaster will never fit in that spot. So why should this cheer you guys up? Because I know how you guys feel, and at least you KNOW you are getting a good B&M stand up coaster. You know it will get the TLC it needs, and it will be a very enjoyable ride. Heck, maybe this will be the ride that really gets the ball rolling for your park... if you guys show that you're happy to get a coaster (even if it isn't exactly what you want) the management will realize that this is what SFA needs... and maybe they'll be more willing to add coasters and thrill rides in the future. I think you all need to have an open mind, and just go and enjoy a new ride experience for you. You guys are gaining a VERY intense coaster that doesn't eat a ton of real estate, adds two inversions, and really is enjoyable. I'm a coaster guy only, and I love forces (gforces rock) you guys already have more inversions than us... PLUS you're gaining two more, and we're losing two. Please look on the bright side, enjoy an AWESOME ride that really does deserve some positive fan appreciation. -
I'm not sure if there is any truth to this at all... maybe just BS or boredom from the people I've talked to... but I've heard some people say that certain parks have experimented with different compound wheels in different temperatures (think of it like summer tires, winter tires). I've heard that soft compound wheels ride smoother and wear less on the track, but wear out too fast in summer, increasing wear, maintenance, and cost... I've heard that summer compounds are harder and run longer/wear better in the summer, but tend to give a rougher ride as the weather changes to cooler weather. Plus these would wear on the track much more in colder weather. I've only been on bull a few times (hate the restraints), but its always been a bit rough to me (compared to batman or superman, for sure)

Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread

Even if the state did acquire the land that way sf would have time to dismantle rides it owns and the parts of rides they own, plus planning and starting a public works project then cancelling it for another project would open them up to countless legal and civil problems that could end those people in prison. Trust me the legal problems and fees alone would outweigh purchasing everything from sfi. Trust me, after what has already been shown by the state fair board, no business will run the park unless their lease says they own rides they buy, or at least unless they get to remove improvements to the park from their lease payments. One last thing, as we know six flags paid ~70m for their land and rides. If the lease really was 1.5m a year as a few people have implied, no way does that include one cent towards ride leasing. The fact sf was allowed to buy the rides from the previous owner, and that sf paid taxes on them means the state fair board probably already gave in to implied laws (like how intellectual property owners have to challenge every dispute, or forever forfeit ownership). You can't just let six flags pay 50m or so for the rides, then ten years late claim ownership even though the situation is similar. The state fair board screwed up here, big time. By allowing six flags to purchase the rides from the previous owners, if they now win ownership in court (unlikely) they will owe millions in back taxes, six flags will be reimbursed, and the other ride disputes continue. If the fair board loses they could face defamation, fraud, and other charges related to a lawsuit that was not filed when the rides previous owner took posession and sold the rides to six flags. If things are as they appear with sf paying for the rides and taxes on the rides, the fair board paying no taxes on the rides and only charging lease for the land, they are in deep trouble. If you rent a house from me, and I give you permission to add on or improve that property, I am require to have it appraised for taxable value and I must pay the higher property taxes. I'm no legal expert, and there are agreements that can be made to share tax fees etc, but this would not already be going to court if the state had it all in writing. This will be interesting in many ways.
