There are some good pics on this site from the day of the trip, i was operating but am not in any of these, i have seen a video someone has put together from this day that i am actually in, pulling my Levers : http://www.themeparkreview.com/uk2006/southport/southport2.htm I will remember it all my life!, its a shame i dont have much proof of it though The picture right below is taken from the front end of the station, im in the Brakeman's box on the far end, cant really see me though, but it is me! This pic was actually taken 3 days before the park closed, at this point, nobody was to know! Very Riverviewesque!! Me in the box! well this is the cyclone station at least here it looks like its been in a cyclone! Fireworks in town, at this point, Pleasureland and the Cyclone had been closed for 2 weeks. For anyone whos interested... i used to operate the Cyclone at Southport Pleasureland in England, from 2004 right up to closing day! While the ride was hit and miss with regards to excitement, i loved using the manual brakes, and have since come to love all coasters that still have them even if some of them disagree with my spine It was very exciting, and yes, in training, several trains went right through the station, sometimes fully Loaded. Of course i could do that on purpose if i wanted If anyone here was on the UK trip a few years ago, i was running the ride for the ERT Refering to the original post, as with the Big Dipper at Camden, Cyclone also used manual levers but connected to Squeeze brakes. But instead of century flyers i had to deal with heavily modified PTC cars. Im glad this topic was brought up, i toothought that i was alone on this one! -
Just to clarify. The piece of track left on the carpark is actually a peice of old Big One track that was removed when the ride was modified in 1997. The section was used as the backing for the main Traumatizer sign at southport, but as yet has not been used for the same purpose at blackpool. The fact that its been painted "infusion blue" may mean they plan to use it in the near future, but who knows. Here is a picture of the Traumatizer sign. Its easy to see the big one section which the sign is mounted to. http://www.ukrides.info/col/pleasureland/tizerd.JPG

lol, im sorry, but this is really anoying me! Infusion is the exact same ride as it was in southport, all the track including the brake runs and station is exactally the same. The track sections have not been modified at all due to the space. They were very lucky that it fit mind you! The only difference is two of the supports just before the brake run are in different places to where they where at Southport, this is due to the route of the Pleasure Beach express. The supports in question are connected to the same point on the track that they where origionally by means of a steel beam that connects both supports to one another, and then to the origional pad on the track section.

Your right lou, the fun house was indeed very popular, when the park was open the funhouse often had to close early to the public due to private parties, much to their disapointment! The reason its stayed open so long after the park is that there where so many bookings to respect. Makes you wonder why they couldnt of just left it. The whole story of Pleasurelands closure is so sad, especially for the staff, some of who attended Club Pleasure Beach's "farewell funhouse" event.

I believe the trains have simply been repainted. The wheels are all old, vekoma's new wheels dont have spokes, why do i know that Maybe the covers will be new, im not sure, but the wheel bogies, seats, restraint mechanism's and main body of the trains, i should emagine will all be the origionals. They still seems to be 8 cars long also, the ride has always had space in the station for ten, but costs resulted in them only buying 8 cars per train.

http://www.rcdb.com/ig1062.htm?picture=6 I actually think this is its sister ride, most notably because its exactally the same appart from the beginning! hehe Now i havent been on BMRX but i have been on jetline and it is an amazing coaster! so i for one, am excited about this ride, and Camelot is quite close to Liverpool where i live so thats even better!

Hmmm. I used to operate the Cyclone and im pretty sure i was operating on the day of the TPR visit to! Seeing it like that is very sad. My old baby, flattened! oh well. Remember the good times is what i say. Besides there is a clone of the ride in India bit out of the way granted, but a clone just the same! Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but the fun house is expected to remain open only until march of this year. When the park closed there were bookings right through until then, so it has been kept open to respect those bookings and obviously for new bookings aswell. It is very strange that KSM is still standing, they have been pretty quick to either sell or demolish the other rides. As much as it was alot of fun, it wasnt very reliable! there where always brake problems and mid ride stops! I have to disagree though that the park wasnt looking its best this year, Id argue that in asthetics the park was looking better than it has done for a long long time. Improvments like the new entrance building, the adition of new paving and gardens throughout the park and general tidying up i feel made the park look very nice, and many people have comented on this. Ironic that the last year of the park has seen it looking better than ever. http://privat.solars.de/cgi-bin/p.pl?p=80074 here is the park in the mid 90's. and simply put its a terrible mess. There are more rides, yes. but i much prefered the park that closed in september to that one! Asthetics aside, i will be the first to admit that your TPR visit was sadly far from perfect! Traumatizer was awaiting a new part from vekoma for the lift hill motor, so that was off. Wildcat was running fine the day before, but just didnt want to play the next day! You almost didnt get the Cyclone because of a major electrical fault (which incidently left half the park without power the day before your visit!) which took hours to fix, and trust me the effort wouldnt of been made if you guys where not coming the next day! infact id say it would of been down for a good day or two! aswell as all this, the day of your visit was also the day of "the Anual outing for under priveliged children on merseyside" (a hard bunch to cope with!) so there you have it! haha

It has always been planned to modify some of the Big One Supports near to where the station for the SLC will be, these being only small modifications. The ride does fit and everything has been planned. i have worked within the BPB Ltd company at both parks, i can tell you all that there are so many rumours that fly around throughout the staff its hard to keep track! ive heard some stupid things over the past three years, so i really wouldnt believe anything any member of staff tells you, no matter how high up they are.

Hello all. I can confirm the big dipper turn is not being re-routed, it is simply being taken apart in several places to allow accsess for the various machinery needed for the foundations and also for the general construction of the ride. The Brake run of Traumatizer will be above the big dipper turn, and there is a four leg support that will sit in the middle of the turn. This support is found on all Standard SLC's so it has not been modified to fit into the space, i think it was just sheer luck that this section would fit directaly within the turn. For those in the know, this support section generally (on all SLC's ive been on anyway) has attatched to it, a set of ladders for acsess to the brake run itself. The turn will be re constructed to its origional route, with maybe a little support modification, once work has been completed on Traumatizer. The Pleasure Beach express however, which originally went streight along the lake will be modified to weave through the SLC's support structure. Hope this helps.

Glad you all seemed to have a good time at Pleasureland! I was working the Cyclone for you all - how did i do? Some nice photos of the ride in action. I was in Blackpool with the group on thursday and it was a great day! Thanks for letting a couple of 235 club members in on the action! It was a great group of people in a great park. If every day of your trip has been like Blackpool then i envy the lot of you big time! Look forward to more updates soon.
