  1. That was quick. Yes, it's Valleyfair. Someone else's turn to post a pic.
  2. The canopy was very welcome when I was there in October, as it was pretty warm. The hot season was still 2 months away, which must be brutal for the costumed characters. Here's the next pic.
  3. Looks like Movie World in Australia to me.
  4. Besides being land-locked, CGA is directly north of the San Jose airport and may have federally imposed height limits, although they do have a sizable drop tower already. I'd think the airport proximity almost surely prevents any fireworks shows, though. Santa Clara is in the heart of Silicon Valley and the area directly surrounding CGA is host to electronics-related conventions year-round, including the Convention Center itself, which is practically next door. I've been to plenty. Santa Clara is like Vegas for nerds, and CGA doesn't really fit the neighborhood anymore. Considering the problems the city has with adding a wooden coaster, I'm guessing the city council would rather just replace CGA with more hotels and corporate buildings.
  5. My guess for "Wings" + "Blazin'": When Robb gets to DLP, he is playing the part of Tinkerbell in the nightly fireworks show, setting himself on fire as he glides down the zip line. There is a precedent.
  6. I think it's been pretty well established that they've going to Thorpe for the Saw opening on Friday the 13th (or an earlier media day) - double decker candy bar with UK pricing - all the Eurofighter references - the caption on the Tempo picture mentions "speed", which happens to be the name of another Eurofighter in the UK (Oakwood) - the stopover at NU to ride Spongebob first as a comparison - the Saw poster However, they still have time to go DLP earlier in the week, as I suggested in an earlier post: - 23 refers to the new D23 club which will be announced on March 10 (there may be a media event at DLP) - the Lion candy bar may be a clue for the town of Lyon in France (although it is 4 hours south of Paris) - the picture of the French lady - the "ironic" picture of Hollywood at LAX, since DLP's Studios park is themed after Hollywood. - the Studios park has a Pixar Cars section, complete with a Route 66 sign
  7. Disney is announcing their new "D23" club on March 10 at the shareholders meeting in Oakland. I think Robb and Elissa's wedding was at Magic Kingdom, so presumably they are big Disney fans. They wouldn't need the currency exchange or to stop in Minneapolis first, so I don't think their final destination is Oakland, but it is probably Disney-related. I didn't see anything special set for March 10 at DLP, but maybe there is a special event there to coincide with the announcement at the shareholder's meeting? The Disney Studios destination guess also ties in with the ironic picture of Hollywood in the first batch of photos (sort of), since they would be leaving the real Hollywood to go to a replica.
  8. Whizzer! If you didn't want to be so obvious, you could go with Willard (since the ride used to be "Willard's Whizzer")
  9. The rep from SFGAm hinted that Mr. 6 might actually be a replacement for the "More flags, more fun" Asian guy, in that he would be rating rides (on intensity?) in the commercials. Apparently he will be talking in the commercials, unlike the previous round of commercials several years ago. She also said Mr. 6 would be a face character in the parks, posing for pictures with guests. He will move slowly and act like an old man for a while, and then dance like crazy when the song starts playing.
  10. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/yearend/chart_display.jsp?f=Hot+Latin+Songs&g=Year-end+Singles Here is the top 50 Latin Music singles for 2008. I don't see any titles that look promising. I sampled about 1/3 of them, but none sounded similar. In fact, the entire chart is filled almost exclusively with male singers (even names like Chayanne and Camila turned out to be male performers). If someone is more familiar with these artists, they might be able to narrow down the search to the most likely candidates. If the song is playing in multiple parks in China, I'd have to believe it is a widely distributed song, probably on some sort of compilation CD. Too bad "Caliente" isn't still on Univision.
  11. Robb, I knew that wasn't the song - the South Park reference was just a joke. Frankly, your clip only has about 10 seconds of the song without you singing over the top. If you have a longer clip you can post, that might help the search.
  12. I think this might be the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xq14ziPucU4
  13. Here are some decent pics I took during a Hades tunnel walkthrough tour.
  14. DBru, I guess I don't like nonsense words. To me, Sooperdooperlooper sounds like a name a 4-year-old would come up with, and be embarrassed about it. I have no idea what "Thunderation" is supposed to mean.
  15. My faves: - Lethal Weapon (100% accurate description - I can't believe no one has died yet from head trauma) - Expedition Everest (the ride delivers on the promise the name suggests - much more than a simple coaster) - Rampage - Rolling Thunder - Banshee - Phoenix - Boulder Dash - Shivering Timbers - Mind Eraser Names I dislike: - Ant Farm Express - Sky Princess - Hurler - Sooperdooperlooper - Boomerang: Coast-to-Coaster - Cornball Express - Tig'rr (is the apostrophe really necessary?) - Mantis - Thundernation - Jaguar! (and any other name with an ! at the end)
