Ccron10 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Last weekend I decided to go out, brave the cold, and head down the road to Hershey for Community Weekend. Usually for one weekend each year, attractions such as Zoo America, Chocolate World, and The Hershey Story Museum open up to the public and offer FREE admission. My roommate dropped me off at Chocolate World and I decided to walk to Zoo America from there to get some off-season photos of the park. I later walked back to Chocolate World, did the 3D Show for the first time, rode the Tour Ride for a free sample and left after I got some hot chocolate. On to the Photos! Well, this is my first stop of 2011 of many more to come. Most of the Christmas stuff has been taken down. Except for Coal Cracker being rehabbed again and work starting down in Creekside Catering, not much is going on inside the park. Great Bear's pre-drop helix is very photogentic back here. Moving on to the ZooAmerica photos, take a look at this big a$$ snake. This is a look that says that if you're bitten by it's one-inch fangs, your arm would fall off (and probably much more than that). Ooo, turtles. Gotta love that it would probably take them a complete day to get from one side of their enclosure to the other. This fella is hard to photograph while running approximately 30mph. If you give an owl enough sugar, he looks like this. Plz dnt watrmark me. ok thnx. I took one or two photos of this guy back in November. He must really love the attention because came over to pose for me again. Kind of cute. I felt sorry for this little guy since nobody was standing around and watching him. No prairie dogs. Everytime a zookeeper would walk by, they would always follow him around. Artsy. The Eclipse of the Kissing Tower. I think my favorite of the many owls here are the Snowy Owls. Pretty much the most popular animal in ZooAmerica thanks to a certain vampire movie and TV Show. I guess it's no different than clownfish and Nemo. One of Monorail's trains was parked outside its service center. I guess they don't have room to fit both of them inside. Lynx have beautiful faces. Getting back over to Chocolate World, here are some photos of Great Bear and Comet. First drop. Two Zero-G Rolls in one shot. If the branches wern't there, then this would look even better. Comet's backside. I did the 3D Show at the last moment because: A: I walked into the place 5 minute before showtime. B: I never seen it before. C: My season pass gave me a discount on it. I look like a Russian Johnny Depp Willy Wonka in this photo. I LOVE this room on the tour ride! It smells so awesome! Until my next trip. Don't forget to comment and provide feedback! Unlike a certain individual, I welcome it!
YoshiFan Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I didn't know they offered free admission on a certain weekend. I went to the museum last year and liked but would go back again for free. It's always hard to go to Hershey in the winter and be so close to those coasters and not able to get some rides in.

I still haven't visited the Museum yet since they moved, but I might do that next weekend. I've found that even though the park isn't open, Chocolate World and ZooAmerica managed to take an afternoon to get through and I think that it would've been a full day visit if I included the museum.
