TR: Splashtown, Houston 7/4/10

Thanks to Hurricane Alex, we skipped the first two days of the ACE Southcentral Triple Crown event at Kemah and Schlitterbahn Galveston. We did make it to the Splashtown day. First up was a decent breakfast, and ERT on their RipCurl toilet bowl and the brand new Stingray Racers, which is a six-lane mat slide with the beginning tube section. We got 2 ripcurl rides and 4 stingrays. All I could handle, really. That's the bad thing about waterpark ERT, it's too damn tiring.

 

BUT, I had a new toy today, a waterproof camera!!! So, I got pics and vids of lots of stuff.

 

As the park opened to a pretty light crown, we headed over to the Tornado funnel slide. These are fun, but not when you have to lug the humongous tube up yourself. I then hit the space slide, since I'd never ridden it before,so I think I've finally ridden everything at the park. The lines never did get very long, until about 2 or so, but even then, it didn't seem as bad as the Six Flags days. The park was a bit cleaner, and they have rebuilt some stairs and such. I wasn't happy that they have SERIOUSLY slowed down their once great lazy river. Now it is REAL lazy.

 

Surprisingly, my son was ready to brave his first straight drop waterslide, so we went and did that once. We spent some time in the wavepool and other pool area watching people fail to make it across the rings. All in all, a decent day at a decent park.
