How can I use those "wooden plaques"?

Hey everyone, I need to know how to use those plates,I don't really know how to explain it good in english...

in this pic you can see that there is just few nodes, but I don't know how to make them work....

Make a long section of plain track.

 

Go the Auto-Support menu. Uncheck the 'clear previous structure' box.

 

In the same options window, de-select everything that doesn't say 'catwalks' by it, so ONLY Catwalks Left and Right are checked.

 

Check the 'Generate Final' box and then click ok.

 

Move the beams out of the way, and repeat as many times as you want!

 

The rest, you can figure out
