Guest Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 For my 40th birthday my daughter is flying us out to Philly for two days of coasters. We'll be at Six Flags Great Adventure (w/ Gold Flash Passes) for my actual birthday on Saturday and decided on Dorney Park for Friday. We're on a tight budget, but this will probably be our only trips to these parks so want to make sure we don't waste our time standing in lines. Which leads to the question: how long will the waits be at DP on the last Friday of August? For example, are local schools in session yet? Since Cedar Fair doesn't (seem to) have any sort of Flash Pass system would it be worth our while to book the VIP Tour? It's just at the top edge of our price range so is doable, but would be frustrating if it turned out to be an unnecessary expense. Also any tips to hitting all the big rides with short waits would be much appreciated (and we aren't planning on hitting the water park at all). -Aahz[/i]
Homeboy23 Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 I would recommend switching the days around and going to Six Flags on Friday and Dorney on Saturday. You will definitely be able to knock out everything at Dorney either day. Especially if you are planning on being there near opening. But if you do stick with your plan, don't worry, Dorney will more than likely be no problem at all on Friday.
Guest Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 I would recommend switching the days around and going to Six Flags on Friday and Dorney on Saturday. Thanx for the input, Homeboy. Woulda, coulda, shoulda Unfortunately, this is the problem with having a 13 year old plan the trip - the Saturday FlashPass was purchased before I knew the actual plan. But, it's her first time planning a trip, so.... Definitely planning on arriving before rope drop, just not sure how late we'll be staying. And aside from getting it all "done" we just get far more worn out when having to wait more than 30 minutes for a ride.
Homeboy23 Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 If you are there at opening you will be able to walk on to almost every ride at Dorney. On Saturday you will probably have short lines for the first hour.
