Reon Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 I know that the RCT2 expansion packs were stupid, but I think they got the right idea this time. I mean when I got Soaked yesterday (Gamestop was SLOW, so sue me) I immeadately noticed the Chaos, which caught my attention. Upon installation I discovered the Delerium ride, Hershey Rocket, and Rollersoaker, along with other great rides. I think that with the ability to ride your own rides combined with this, the series is headed in the right direction once again...I only have a few minor regrets that I noticed...What about the rest of you? Jared "Saddly screwed up his comp so he cant upload or download RCT3 files" Becker I don't necessarily think the expansions were BAD as such for RCT2, they just didn't add very much in the way of rides. Both Wacky Worlds and Time Twister adding a fair amount of scenery and scenarios but that was all. I think Frontier have learnt their lessons since the RCT2 days as the expansions seem to actually be EXPANDING the core gameplay in RCT3. Soaked! gave us waterparks as well as a fair amount of scenery, fixes and features that people have been requesting since RCT3 launched like Tunnels and quite a few UI improvements, especially staffing related. With Wild! it looks like Frontier are really trying to expand the core gameplay again, with the whole Animal angle finally enabling people to produce all-in-one parks. They seem to be making it another all-rounder expansion, with new flatrides, new coasters (2 prototypes seen so far), more scenery and the whole Safari/Zoo aspect. Wild! could be a huge disaster though although I seriously doubt it based on Soaked! All in all I'm looking forward to Wild!
kenshinmac Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 RCT2's expansions were worth it just for the extra scenarios alone. The only real problem was that they never added any real new types of rides. We were kinda spoiled in RCT1 as it started with a fairly small selection of rides then each expansion added a decent number more. RCT3 seems to have a great expansion plan. They add a significant new gameplay angle with each expansion. That is a heck of a thing IMHO. If they can keep it working well with Wild I will be immensely happy with RCT3. I honestly can't tell you how happy Soaked has made me. I mean when RCT3 first came out I was almost ready to dismiss it. I still haven't really figured out how to get people to keep going on rides but heck. It is still soo much better than I ever thought it would be. Oh and waterslides rock.
